She was emailed directly by a woman affiliated with the company who requested payment via Venmo. After the payment was sent--using the exact information provided in that email--the same person denied ever sharing a Venmo account and claimed they never received anything. We contacted the police immediately, and after reviewing the evidence, they confirmed this situation is highly suspicious and likely fraudulent. A formal investigation is underway. This business is not trustworthy. Save yourself the stress, money, and legal hassle--go anywhere else.

They came out and gave me an estimate for cleaning the gutters and replacing one joint. The estimate was more than expected, but everything is these days, so I said sure let's go ahead. They said it would be two weeks, but it was closer to four. When they were done, they had neglected to put the cages over the downspouts. When I called them and told them this, they said they had forgotten to put that in the estimate and it would be $100 more for them to come out and install the cages. I was not happy about that because I had asked for it to be included and was told it would be included. The guy said he understood and would see if he could give me a better price. Now I got the new estimate and it's $150, for something that was supposed to have been included in the original estimate. Not good.

Before going with Ajecks I received 3 quotes, 1 from RJ Miller for 4,500 which included a 10 yr warranty, $50 per sheet of plywood and drip edge. The 2nd was from a guy to lay a new roof on top of the old one and just replace any rot or weak spots for 3,300 and the last was from ajecks for 4,200 and $65 per sheet of plywood. I ended up going with ajecks because at the time the reviews on here were good, although there were only 2 but that was 2 more than most of the other places and Ajecks was willing to start within 48 hrs. The good: We negotiated on a Saturday and Charles L., yes the very same Charles L. that posted the 5 star review for Ajecks on here, I assume to run a little damage control as the more recent reviews are not as favorable, was on site the following Monday morning with his crew hard at work removing the old roof. I was extremely happy to see this as it was still winter and we were expected to get hit with snow later in the week. I called around 3 to ask how things were going and I was pleased to hear everything was done, not that my 1400 SF roof was anything crazy but having it wrapped up all while I was at work was a nice bonus. I returned home to an extremely clean site, all that remained was the temporary dumpster bag but being that they had no time to order a dumpster I understood this and the bag was picked up that Wednesday. The bad: Ajecks never pulled a permit to have the work done. I know this because I called haddon township building code official and she was never contacted. I asked if it could have been due to not wanting to hold up the work and she said most of the roofers she deals with come in after the work is started and get issued permits on the spot. So they just didn't do it. And it's important because most people when buying a home with a new roof want to see that it was installed correctly and inspected so not having that hurts the value of the work, not as far as Ajecks is concerned but as the home owner it matters and it matters for any warranty claim so no permit / inspection = no warranty. I went with ajecks because I was told all the rot would be taken care of, that's why I wanted a complete removal and not a patch and overlay. No shingle company will back up the 50 year warranty if the shingles are installed over old shingles or rotted wood so I was willing to pay the extra cost of plywood to make sure it was all removed. Needless to say I was surprised and not happy to see that there was a fair amount of rotted wood still under my brand new roof. Oh and I could see this because no drip edge was installed, something that was included in RJ Millers quote but apparently not in Ajecks.... How do you not instal a drip edge? It's not a shed roof it's my home. No drip edge if nothing else looks unfinished and pretty much like crap since the end of the wood is exposed. I called and complained and told them I would not pay until the rot was fixed. Charles L. accused me of being a liar basically so I had go up on the roof and take pictures. I don't like to complain, in fact this is the 1st negative review I have left online but 4,400 is a lot of money to spend to not have a job done correctly. Andrew handled it professionally and sent Charles back out to lift up the new shingles and replace the rotted wood, which he did the next day. Unfortunately he only replaced half of the rotted wood. So I called Andrew again and he assured me he would come out and handle it and that this type of thing never happens. I trusted Andrew and did not want to hold up payment over what seemed like a minor issue and like I said he gave me his word that the issue would be fixed. That was the last time I heard Andrew. My neighbor went with RJ Miller, his roof looks great and they installed a drip edge and even put in new gutters at no extra cost. I went with Ajecks and still have rotted wood, I have no drip edge and the best part is my gutters were detected from the house at both edges, held up by 2 screws in the middle of the roof as a result of the 24 inches of snow we were hit with a few weeks prior and Ajecks didn't even bother to just screw them back in, forget replacing them and when I asked I was told that would an additional 500-800, new sky brackets and this and that. I had plenty of brackets and climbed up and reattached them myself. Conclusion: I should have gone with RJ Miller. Ajecks didn't do the worst job I mean the shingles stayed on after some bad wind storms and there are no leaks but it wasn't the best job either. And for pretty much the same price, actually cheaper when you consider everything, I could have done better with my money. Pictures show the rot, the wood that was removed that Charles L said wasn't there when I complained the 1st time and the gutters the way they left them, even after 2 visits and a less than satisfied customer's experience

We had just sold our home to an FHA buyer and were beginning to go through the contingency period…read more I was expecting that our roof would get flagged by either the home inspector or the FHA appraiser, as it was 9 years old and we had never done anything to maintain it. There were no leaks, or anything visibly wrong that we could see, but I started to reach out to roofers anyway to see if they could just come out to look at my roof and let me know what, if anything, needed to be done. I got an email from Derrick the same day I submitted a request for an estimate through the website. He said he'd be glad to come out and have a look and let me know what needed to be done. He ended up not being able to come out for over a week, because it rained pretty much every single day. But in the meantime, during that week, I got estimates back from two other roofers, and the home inspection was completed. The two other roofers both gave me quotes for full roof replacement, full skylight replacement, and all kinds of stuff I wasn't expecting to need, totaling over $2500. But when Derrick got back to me with his estimate, it was almost $2000 cheaper - and I had to do a double take! I thought for sure he'd left off a 1 at the beginning or something. I had been bracing myself to shell out thousands of dollars for a new roof. But then I read his estimate, and compared it to the home inspector's report that I'd just gotten back, and guess what? The items that the home inspector said we needed to address were the EXACT SAME ITEMS that Derrick said we needed to address (aka NOT a new roof - just some maintenance to extend the life). I can't even begin to tell you the amount of relief I felt! I even exchanged emails with Derrick to make sure - to really make sure - that this was correct. I sent him the inspector's report, and he confirmed that his estimate would address everything the inspector was asking us to address. I even sent him another one of the roofer's estimates, which had pointed out something about delaminated plywood sheathing, and asked if he'd noticed anything else like that up there. He said he didn't but he'd be happy to have another look. He came back the next day and completed the job! Completed - the job - the next day! Another thing I should mention is that he included pictures of my roof in his email to me with the estimate attached, and no other roofer I contacted did this. He sent me 'after' pictures when the work was completed and I was able to clearly see what work was performed and that it was indeed complete. I can't say enough good things about this company - it was such a pleasure to work with someone like Derrick at a time when, as sellers, we are most vulnerable to being taken advantage of to simply get through the contingency period. It was refreshing to know that we were dealing with an honest tradesman, which seems to be a rarity these days. I was so impressed with his honesty and work that I shared his name and number with my realtor. She said whenever she sells a house in Philly, she has a hard time recommending a roofer because she's had so many bad experiences. I hope this ends up bringing Derrick more business. Nice work - keep it up - you get more flies with honey!!
