My wife and I have done business with this shop quite a few times since getting back into riding this year, and I have to say that of all the tack shops we've visited, this one has probably the best customer service and the friendliest, most helpful staff. I'm not sure if there's been an ownership change since some of the original reviews or what, but our experiences have been stellar. What's more, while this place is mostly an English riding shop, but they've been super accommodating and helpful as we acquired gear for Western riding. For example, when we came in looking for helmets, they dropped what they were doing and multiple staffers helped us figure out exactly the right size and test fit the helmets in the store to make sure we made the right purchase. They also gave us tips on which ones were the best value, rather than steering us towards the most expensive. On subsequent visit, we were shopping for paddock style riding boots and they sat us both down and had separate staffers fetch several brands in our respective sizes, letting us try and find which ones suited us best (and also half sizes up/down to get the perfect fit). When I started putting some of the shoes back in the boxes, one of the owners even told me, "You're doing the hard part, let us take care of that," and boxed the shoes back up so I could focus on trying on the other pairs and save time. Talk about fantastic customer service. They went out of their way to make sure we got the perfect fit and exactly what we needed. This shop is well stocked, has a fantastic layout, super friendly and helpful staff and there is never any pressure or up-selling. You can take your time, be left alone or get as much help as you need and always with a smile. We have never been ignored or treated poorly in any way and these days that is particularly rare. This place absolutely deserves your business and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't check them out. read more

Well, I have to write this review although it's been several years ago because I saw several negative ones and that did not represent the service we received. We have gone year after year to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show year after year and always visited this store (unfortunately not this yr tho). After being greeted, they (sales personnel) have allowed us to dawdle for a long time. They'd check on us regularly but they never hovered even when there were just a few other customers in the store. We'd perhaps buy some item we needed and not available at the exhibit hall. Sometimes their prices were lower than the onsite vendors. I appreciated not being smothered as to me it's a big turn off. When we asked questions or needed something we were treated well. read more

I came to this store being kind of worried because English tack stores can be aggressive and unaccommodating if your a beginner and not looking to spend a lot of money. I went in to possibly try on boots and figure out what I want to ask for Christmas. The guy working who I believe owned the store (his name has left me) did a full run down on all the boots and when I leaned towards the synthetic (way cheaper boot) he was all for it. He pulled my size in one go and they fit perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and supportive of my synthetic decision but also wasn't pressuring. When we left we looked online and he was selling them for exactly how much you can get them anywhere else along with the helmets we looked at as well. It's not overpriced in there he is very competitive with his prices, horse stuff is just expensive! Great spot, we will definitely be going back for all our horse needs!! read more

I realize that you are the only English riding game in town, but that isn't a reason to provide lousy customer service. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and were largely ignored while the manager chatted up some familiar faces at the counter. When we asked for assistance, we got the bare minimum and even then were treated as an inconvenience rather than as folks who were trying to get advice and were prepared to make a significant purchase. Although I love to support local businesses over online retailers, we ended up leaving and making our purchases online. We will be back when we need to but won't be thrilled about it. I find the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable. If you go there understanding that this is a small business, not a big box store, then their return policy is reasonable as I suspect their profit margin is much narrower than a big box or online store. By the way their annual sale is amazing. I always find a ton of stuff at a great price and pick up a few full price items that I need as well. The sales people are there to help when I need and at the same time I'm able to take my time browsing without anyone breathing down my neck. I walked in to another customer requesting an employee wear a mask. The employee stated this was private property and she did not have to wear a mask. (Okay so they were yelling at each other) I am fairly certain that is an inaccurate interpretation of the Maricopa Mask law. If you are stuck going b/c they are the only game in town wear an KN95, unless you are an anti-masker. Selection is poor as a result of COVID. It definitely was a different experience than the saddlery I went to as a kid in Michigan. read more

Although the store was not busy, I had to ask for assistance from the sales person who acted as though she was inconvenienced. I was treated with a rude, arrogant, and condescending attitude. This place has a great variety of English tack, attire, and horse stuff. They have rows and rows of breeches. I bought $700+ boots for less than $300 during one of their great sales. The staff is really helpful. Overall great store. Only desire-more consignment. It is conveniently located off the 101, but it is a good 30 minute drive without traffic. read more

Love this place! They are very helpful here. When I started riding again, they helped me pick out a good helmet, shoes, chaps, etc. They're very concerned about rider safety and comfort. Excellent customer service! The gracious owner opened after hours for an emergency tack need. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and patiently waited for me to make my selection. The store has a wide variety of clothing, boots and safety gear for the English rider. Wouldn't hesitate to shop there again! I saw low reviews posted concerning the return policy. I used to love this store. Until I discovered how poor their return or exchange policy is. I bought a rather expensive white show shirt. It is supposed to keep you cool and breath and dry faster... well, I showed in it twice and then took it to my house to wash. I followed the instructions on the label. When I too it out of the washer; it had a bunch of snags on it. Not what I expected from such an expensive shirt. So I took it back to Greenway. I was hoping for store credit or something because I didn't want this shirt or another like it... NOPE... the manager basically said too bad... she was happy to send it to the manufacturer but they would only say I washed it wrong... ummm no, I followed the instructions. She also said... you can still wear it with the snags because the snags are not where they can be seen with a jacket on... that is not the point. This was a $179 shirt! Unless you look like a rich equestrian the staff will treat you poorly. Just because I don't ooze money I was treated very poorly or ignored. As soon as someone with money walked in, the staff practically fell over themselves to help that individual. I'm an equestrian who deserves the same treatment as everyone else. Just because I can't spend a couple thousand dollars at your store doesn't mean I deserve shitty service. I've talked to other people who have experience the same treatment so I'm not alone in this rant. I definitely will not be back to your store. read more

Only English tack store in AZ! Drove up from Tucson with very little knowledge of what to buy, but Jane was extremely helpful and explained everything. She was very down to earth and knew a lot about all the great brands they carry! Prices are reasonable and selection is excellent. Some great close-out items too. What a wonderful store - I am new to riding (English Saddle, not Western). I had a child and what do ya know, my feet grew! So I went to buy a pair of reasonably priced boots so I can take up riding again. Well, to my delight, they had the best of the best and they happened to be on sale! I got a pair of leather riding boots that fit me perfectly - I have large "runners" calves. My last riding boots looked cool - but were fake leather! Yuck! The amazing boots were only 59.00 - this is unheard of for a pair of top of the line, well made leather riding boots! So I am one happy girl! I also picked up a helmet - that was also on sale! The sales woman was so nice, professional (knew her stuff) and guided me to exactly what I needed! Loved this store - was broken hearted when the sales woman told me most people come in and try there stuff on - only to leave their store to find it on the internet cheaper! Yuck! People, lets support our local business's - this isn't a Nordstrom - I am pretty sure this is a family owned business! Thank you Cindy and happy riding! I will say the only negative thing is there location - it is a bit hard too see from the street - I wish for them (they had a more visable location). I went in to exchange a show jacket I had previously bought and the manager, Cindy Chavez, helped me. She was extremely rude and unfriendly. She never once said anything nice, helpful or friendly to me. I wanted help fitting the jacket and when I asked her for advice on how tight other people wear their show jackets, she responded "other people buy what fits and they leave the store and never come back." Obviously she didn't want to help me and for some reason was put out that I wasn't sure what size to buy. But that wasn't the only thing, her attitude was nasty and unbelievably condescending. Honestly, I was shocked she was treating me like that. So I didn't shop for anything else because she was so rude. I felt like I just wanted to get out of there. I went to this store to buy a jacket expecting customer service. Is it too much to ask for help with fitting a show jacket? Apparently at Greenway Saddlery it is. I will never shop there again. Had a great experience here the first time I went. The two women working there were very knowledgable and friendly. Unfortunately my next visit was a awful. I waited for the store to open 30 minutes past the posted time while holding my twenty pound infant. When the doors finally opened the saleswoman helped another customer first. This customer went on for twenty five minutes after being helped and paying about her fall and helmet and blah blah blah as I sat there with a pair of breeches in my hand in their boot department...making eye contact several times with the saleswoman. I'm pretty sure it was obvious that I needed her help. They both rudely continued their conversation until I finally walked out. Not even then did she ask if she could help. I'm all about supporting small local shops but I refuse to be treated like I'm invisible and then hand you my money. Sorry. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know about this experience. read more

Nice store with nice inventory, and great prices, however the service was TERRIBLE. When we arrived at the store we were greeted by Jane, who seemed so helpful and knowledgeable. I was excited to have her help me pick out a pair of boots (I've had trouble finding a good fit). Within minutes, however, I was "ditched" for a customer who was spending more money (looking for a saddle). Jane poured her attention onto this customer, who even commented at one point, "you can help other people, too, if you need to", seeing that I was sitting there with a confused look on my face and boxes of boots around me. Jane declined, stating she had" nothing else going on"! I was shocked. Eventually, the other employee reluctantly asked if I needed help. She proceeded to "help" in a disinterested, condescending manner. I wanted so badly to walk away from the sale, but I agree with a previous post in that I want to support local smaller shops, rather than the internet. I ended up buying hundreds of dollars worth of boots and chaps, but it killed me to give my money to support a store that I felt treated me like a second class citizen. The icing on the cake was that the employee spoke on the phone the entire time she was ringing me up. Only when she noticed my dissatisfied face, did she end the call so she could take my credit card. I wish I had gone to the shop on a different day. I feel that if you get Jane's full attention, you are probably in good hands. If you have to deal with the other employee or if the shop is busy...prepare to be disappointed. read more
