I hired the owner of this company on February 27, 2025 to do a few small jobs for me. Replace a…read moresmall retaining wall that had fallen, cut up a tree that had come down in a recent storm, and burn said tree in a existing wood pile. The signed agreement was 50% down and 50% at completion. We gave him the 50% up front to start the job. He started all the jobs the next day. Then the following day the excuses started it was his truck broke down so that delayed his return for two days. When he returned he installed the wall and threw a strip of landscaping fabric in the hole. But then said he couldn't get the rock to fill it in over the weekend, or put grass seed down with straw, and then his tractor broke down. So the third day he started on the tree cutting which turned into him cutting some other trees and leaving stump and ruts in the yard. It started to rain so he left and said I will see you tomorrow. Well we never saw him. I messaged him he said he had some medical issues but was coming to finish the job the following day on March 4, 2025. He arrived and worked on cutting the tree up and putting it in the wood pile. He then asked for the remaining balance of the money for completing the job. He said "it's the beginning of the year and he had a ton of money out right now, and he would really appreciate it". I told him I was a little hesitant to pay the remaining balance because the job wasn't complete and now I needed ruts fixed in the yard from his tractor. Ethan, the owner assured me when it was dry out he would return finish the wall, finish taking out the tree, burn the wood pile. He even offered to put mulch down (which I said I would pay for outside of the original contract but he never gave me a quote or requested any money). Then he said in addition I am going to mow for you and pick up this other pile of branches get that burned as well, NO additional jobs were completed even though he offered. I told him I didn't need all that, I just wanted the original work completed. So being a trusting individual I reluctantly paid him the remaining 50% due on the original contract. Never heard back from him. We did have some rain so I was understanding and waited to contact him. On March 10, 2025 I inquired about him returning, he said he would be there the next day. Excuses started again my Bobcat is down I'm at the shop fixing it. He never showed up and I got a text on March 17, 2025" I haven't forgotten about you". I wasn't very happy and basically told him to forget it because I really felt as if he was being dishonest he got his money and skipped on finishing the jobs. At some point he came and put part of the mulch down but we hadn't even discussed the price and he hadn't completed the other jobs I originally contracted him for?? Then I got a message on March 26, 2025 he was coming to finish all the jobs and the mulch. March 26, 2025 came and went he never showed. March 31, 2025 I sent a message when are you coming? I got "I am not positive because we are behind now and it's gonna rain". April 7, 2025 I messaged again what day are you coming he said "I'll be there Thursday", which was April 10, 2025. Guess what ???? He NO SHOWED AGAIN, this time he said "I am sorry I am working 20 hour days, I am doing everything I can." So long story short buyer beware !!! Don't get taken advantage of like we did. We gave him multiple opportunities to do what was right and fulfill his end of the contract but alas he didn't. Nor did he give us a partial refund. So we are out $3700, and we have four jobs started and not one of them completed. Too bad the owners quick and timely YELP response to my complaint couldn't have also been displayed in his work ethic.

My Experience with Upper Deck Roofing - A Cautionary Review…read more In April 2025, I hired Upper Deck Roofing after positive reviews and confirming they were a preferred Owens Corning contractor. I paid my deposit on 4/2. Shortly after they raised the price due to a measurement error, which I accepted. The first roof install occurred on 4/24--but I immediately noticed problems. They had improperly reinstalled my TruGuard gutter system by nailing it directly through the new shingles. Initially, Jake Calvert (owner) denied it. Only after I showed video proof did they acknowledge it. Owens Corning and TruGuard later confirmed in writing this method was improper and damaging. I was told it voided warranty coverage. Jake shifted blame, claiming a vague email was warning enough. A rep from their team admitted they should've told me to have the guards removed. After legal pressure, & refusing to sign a doc waiving consumer rights, a second full roof tear-off and new system install occurred on 5/28. The final roof looks good--but getting there involved months of denial, pressure, and emotional stress. This process cost me peace of mind, time off work, and trust. I told Wallace that I was still getting estimates. Then a few days later they went to my property and cut down the tree without my approval. They dropped the tree and put huge holes in my yard. A branch fell and severed a drain pipe and plugged it up and now my gutters leak causing my basement to leak as well. I asked that they come back and fix it. He finally called me back and gave me the riot act for taking so long to pay. I told him that I hesitated for all the above reasons , especially for not cleaning up and for smashing a drainage pipe.He has not returned my calls. So I never got a written estimate, never gave him an official OK to start and never got a receipt. Why I paid him - well - I am a good person. What a con. Do not use this service. I have a few friends who have had the same experience. Stay away. Have not heard one friend speak positive. Stay away.

This company broke two vehicle windshields of mine. The first time was last October. Josh initially apologized and said his wife would call to take care of it. That was a lie because she never called. When I finally managed to catch her on the phone, she refused to submit my claim because she didn't want her insurance rates to go up. Moreover, her local insurance agent never called me back either. When they broke my windshield again this April, Josh was verbally abusive and called me crazy. The home owner apologized for Josh's behavior. However, once again, the local insurance agent never called me back--he was always in a meeting and would call back. LIES! I had to report my loss to the National office of his insurance company and am still trying to fully resolve my claim. Choose a different lawn company that actually cares about their clients and is professional and responsible.
