The absolute best library. Gigantic--so many places to sit to get work done/study as well as couches for leisurely reading. Three floors! Could spend days there rotating through different study spots Even has an art gallery upstairs with rotating exhibits! Also upstairs is an audio area to listen to vinyl (and extensive collection of vinyls). Lots of outlets in each workspace area. Very clean, plenty of windows for natural light. The bottom floor has a cafe with a lot of food options. You can only eat in the cafe area, but the options are so diverse (sandwiches, pizza, nuggets, small frittatas) and coffee is very cheap as well. Even the cafe area has a section of outlets. Multiple self check-out desks, both on bottom floor near the cafe and on the main floor. Also several help desk stations (bottom floor, two on main floor, and on top floor). My happy place. Makes studying more bearable. read more

Now, I do think this is one of the best libraries around. It's a lovely spot serving the community. Such a beautiful hub for people of all ages. We are so blessed around Connecticut to have wonderful libraries all over. read more

It's a great place to study! It's quiet and clean, and it doesn't get crowded on Saturday.

Went here to get a book for my NCLEX, they were so kind to help me search for it. The place was so clean and had bathrooms everywhere. They had a great cafe down stairs too. They had sooo many study tables and rooms available. It would be hard NOT to find the correct book here. I only wish that they had a vending machine. Besides that, this is the best library I've ever been at. read more

I come to the library a lot to work and am always thoroughly impressed by their customer service especially Mary and Tristan (hope those names are right). They are always so kind and professional and go the extra mile. Sometimes I also go to the events, but I am unorganized and forget to register and the standby line is always so nice. The Thomas Friedman and Norm Lewis events in the last few weeks I thought were especially excellent, I thought I was at a high end Manhattan establishment. read more

Great library. Largest collection of cookbooks I've ever seen in one place (much less a library). Something for everyone: art gallery, innovation lab, plenty of seating. Card holders must be residents or work in Greenwich, but library is open to everyone. Cafe is for good causes. read more

As I was walking into this facility I was ambushed and followed by a security guard, enforcing that I go downstairs immediately, When I questioned what the problem was I was told it was because of my "gatorade" I reluctantly gave my beverage up and was able to enter. The Greenwich Public Library is one of the best I've seen in the country. I go there when I'm in town visiting family. I was recently their on New Year's Eve 2024 so my toddler granddaughter could attend their "Noon" Year's Eve countdown, a 30-minute event. I found out upon arrival that registration was closed. I asked Ms. Claire, who was leading the event, if we could be placed on a wait list and was told no. Ms. Claire stated the class was overbooked. I on my own decided to wait until after the event to see if there was a left over coloring page or whatever craft they were doing and/or a balloon (since we were able to watch the balloon drop through the door window) for my granddaughter to take to do at home. Again, Ms. Claire gave a hard no. I was really surprised by her response. Normally, I've seen staff go out of their way to assist. Would it have been so difficult to make a copy or say, "how about waiting until the room clears out and I'll see what I can do?" There were about six other toddlers looking to get into the class and got turned away. One parent in particular said she was scolded once because they were a few minutes late for an event. The other said he was chastised for not knowing the classes fill up and folks should register early. I guess my experience was not an anomaly. It appears the Grinch arrived at the Greenwich Library. read more

The library is lovely and modern with great space. It has one of the largest selections of books and DVDs in the Fairfield County area, right after Stamford. The working and seating areas are so nice! The staff is very nice. I did wish they had more foreign language selections. Oh and the parking lot most of the times is entirely packed, despite being one of the large parking lots in Greenwich. People have to drive around the lot to find even a single open parking spot. Overall, excellent library-- of course I wouldn't expect anything less from the Library of the #1 city with the most millionaires and billionaires per capita in the country. read more

Greenwich Library is decently sized. Nothing compares to NYC's main library. But to Greenwich standards, this library does a good job. I usually visit Greenwich Library, either during lunch break or for workshops. Greenwich Library's Main Floor, holds World Literature/ Religion, Cookbooks, Fiction and Non-Fiction books, as well as a great amount of computers at the center of the 1st Floor. You also have the check out counter or if you prefer, kiosks check-out. With computers on this floor. The 2nd Floor, has Foreign movies. There's also a small gallery showcasing work by local artists. Children's section is on the 3rd floor. Oh, I forgot, there's also a lower level with a café a dome books for sale. Like Greenwich Library's style. It's comfortable and like coming here just to relax with a book. read more

My favorite place in town! Well, the Greenwich Library is my favorite indoor place in town. They have an amazing selection of not just books, but CDs, DVD's and even art work! That's right, in addition to the gallery on the second floor that displays a rotating selection of original art work, all of which is for sale, the library also has framed prints that you can take out for a few months to decorate your house. It's great for renters, or people that can't stand to look at the same thing on their walls month after month. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. The kids area is adorable and the furniture almost too comfortable. The nicest thing about this library is that if they don't have a book you are looking for they will actually order it for you! The satellite libraries are also very nice and have terrific staffs. I love the way they run the library system in Greenwich. They truly do everything possible ton be of service to the community. read more

I wanted a change of scenery for studying and a friend suggested coming to this library. It has a large parking lot and is located directly on the corner. The library is two floors and is separated into many different sections. There is a circulation desk right as you walk in, as well as a staircase upstairs. There is a gallery upstairs with rotating paintings on display. Upstairs also has a teen center and a collection of CDs for checkout. There is also a puzzle table to mess around with. Downstairs from the main floor, there is a cafe, but it is closed on Sundays. Outside there is a cute courtyard area with benches. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall it is a great library and I would definitely come back. read more

The new security guard makes everyone so uncomfortable, is so rude, and even cursed in front of my children. He needs to leave. When I dropped my bag walking in he just watched, stayed looking at his phone, and did not even offer to help out. He stares at you and makes the most uneasy, awkward eye contact that makes me feel almost attacked. It has come to the point that I now go to the Cos Cob library to check out books and do work even though the location is far more inconvenient. Someone seriously needs to review his qualifications! read more

Great place for kids and adults!. Reading books make you smarter and intelectual. Greenwich Library Is the perfect place to read and study, here you can find a huge variety ok books, children books, newspapers, magazines etc. It's a great place to relax, distress, clear up your mind and why not; take a nap as well! I stopped in on Thursday just before the start of the 3:00 PM Computer Lab Drop-In. My friend Mary was hosting a celebration of Elvis' 80th birthday. I enjoyed a nice piece of birthday cake, oh, so rich, and a cup of coke. Then I joined Michele and Jasmine, our IT trainers. In just a few minutes, Jasmine and I taught me how to use DropBox for photos. I was trying to download nearly 200 photos from Jack Dog Studio. And we did a quickie on using Google Drive. Drop-in computer training is now 3 times a week: Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday. Any question, the answer is there or together you'll find it. Thank you, thank you! read more

One of the best public libraries I have been to. Start of the art tools and technologies including wide variety of publications, periodicals, DVD's, CD's, etc. They even have an art lending library! Great spaces to study and read as well plus an entire 3rd floor dedicated for children. Conveniently located on the main street of Putnam Ave as well. read more

This library is amazing. It is very organize, has plenty of areas to study by yourself. There is a floor for each section, and they have many free events here. This is a great place to go to wander and spend a day here. I love the library and love reading. Also they have a large selection of manga! What?! Highly recommend. The greatest public library I've ever been to. A huge variety of books, DVDs, music, and an interlibrary loan system that can get almost anything, no matter how obscure. There's a lot of space to study or work, and every time I've been, people have been respectful of the fact others are working. Lots of public PCs (for people like me who have Macs and have to use PCs to work remotely). The library also runs a series of interesting lectures and a book club which I recommend checking out. This library is wonderful on so many levels. First the hours, as a working person it is so nice being able to leave the office and know that Greenwich Library will be open until 9:00 pm. If they don't have a particular book they will get it for you. It is incredibly family friendly with programs for everyone from toddlers to seniors. There are Friday night classic movies, and free Sunday concerts. There is a nice little deli in the basement (or as we like to call it in Greenwich, the lower level:-) ) I recently discovered their 2 ebook apps. I am in love. No more fines as they delete themselves after 3 weeks. No need to pay Amazon or Barnes & Noble any more. In addition, Community Answers is located on the Mezzanine level. This organization knows everything you could ever want or need to know about Greenwich and the surrounding area. read more
