Greenwich Point Park on the beach, facing Long Island.

Great beach and walking area. No fees to enjoy the area during the winter. Beach is clean and I can see how enjoyable it could be during the summer (you'll need a pass for those months). People are generally friendly. View is nice and on a clear day you can see all the way to Manhattan. Ample parking, amenities (closed for the winter), and clean restrooms. There is also a little take a book/leave a book library box by the concessions. Nice if you forgot a book to read while lounging on the beach. One thing I found funny are the signs to keep dogs on leashes with an indication of how much the fine is. It may speak to the entitlement attitude in the area, but few dogs were on leash.

Residents only beach that is clean and nice! Got a single pass through a friend that has a family that lives there. It was a perfect day to lounge around and enjoy the sun. The town is also beautiful and would love to explore a few of the restaurants and bars next time.

Great place to see the sunrise with someone special. A great place to see the sunrise by yourself. A place of calm for meditation and to realize the beauty that is New York.

Best place ever! No place like it anywhere - it's a nature's sanctuary, blissful surroundings to say the least! I do not want to complain, but I must admit during dog season, it's not the best place for people that are fearful of dogs. It's sad that some dog owners are so dismissive and let their dogs wander on long leashes and worse yet, OFF LEASHES! Shame on the lawbreakers! I will go to Tod's no matter what kind of dogs are there; but I am hopeful and thinking they will probably reinforce the rules in the not too distant future b/c of the non-law abiding dog owners - tsk, tsk, ruining it for your fellow dog lovers!

Gorgeous park and beach. Very clean, lovely area and great parking. Many things to do for adults and kids but keep in mind that this is a resident ONLY recreation place. Will definitely visit again! Will take our bikes next time and do the hills :)

Went to Greenwich Point Beach for the first time today. It was picture perfect, tranquil and very clean. Enjoyed my time there immensely.

Went to Greenwich Point Beach today and I loved it. It was very clean and tranquil and it was a picture perfect day!!!

I'm not one of the beautiful people who lives in Greenwich. Nor can I afford the exorbitant daily parking fees. So I am relegated to come off season. And I swear I found a piece of heaven. This park is absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous views. Beautiful walking paths and trails. Plenty of parking (gosh, it's November!)And even though it's November, they have attendants at the gate and the bathrooms are open. Actual bathrooms. Not disgusting port a pots. After having been visiting the trashy parks in Stamford, this place was truly heaven. I'll be back every week until they start charging me!

This is a tale of two parks. Your experience here will vary greatly, depending on whether you come during the summer months or the winter months. If you come between May 1st and October 31st, you need a permit or single day pass to enter. That includes any means of entrance, whether it be by car, foot, or bicycle. I ran into this the first time I tried to visit. You cannot buy a pass at the entrance, so you are turned away. This is more or less an "anti-locals" measure, if you aren't a resident of Greenwich, you have to pay a $35 parking fee plus $7 per person. This is for *one* visit. So yeah, for the summer months, as a non-resident who lives within a 10 minute drive or 20 minute bike ride, I would give this place 1 stars. However, during the off season, it really is a fantastic park. There is plenty of parking all along the point. There is a very pretty white sand beach on the eastern part of the park, a marina on the northwest, and the rest of it is mostly left in a more natural state. There are multiple walking paths around the park, and a ring road of sorts, so it is great for strolling, walking, and bicycling. It can be pretty busy when there is nice weather, even during the week. There are gorgeous views of the NYC skyline and Long Island sound. So if you are going in the off season, this is a great park to visit, and it's one of my favorites in the area. If you are thinking of going during the season .... unless you live in Greenwich or want to deal with the byzantine red tape.

One of the best parts of living in Greenwich, in minutes you're transported away into a beautifully maintained beach and walking park full of wildlife. We come here all year long and enjoy the views of nature.

GREAT BEACH, AWFUL GOVT…read more You can park a couple blocks away, then take a fun, 20-minute ferry ride from Greenwich Harbor. The island includes a slightly-rocky beach with shaded benches; a park area with a playground, BBQs, and picnic tables; and restrooms and a snack bar. Cost, not incl. parking, can be up to $19 per person aged 5-64 y.o.. But Greenwich govt. is a joke: odd policies, inconvenient requirements, key info either missing or buried on website. Make sure you get a Park Pass before doing anything else. To board the ferry, you need not only a ticket, but also a Park Pass - which isn't sold at the ferry ticket counter. They're sold only at various civic centers, located 3-5 miles away, and *not open on weekends*. Also, the Parks & Rec webpage on Park Passes doesn't mention cost; you have to look at their Ferry PDF. Then consider parking at Horseneck Parking lot. On weekends, it's free. A parking attendant advised this, and it was corroborated by a sign at Horseneck indicating that the lot was reserved for Greenwich residents with the "G" permit on M-F 9a-5p. As of this writing, the Parks & Rec webpage cites only the parking lot across from the ferry, which the aforementioned parking attendant advised can cost up to $35 per car. The most recent Parking dept. press release with news about these lots doesn't mention this cost. A ferry ticket is up to $12 per person aged 5-64 y.o.. Where Darien Beachgoing Gets Practical…read more Pear Tree Point is the more, shall we say, functional, of the two Darien public beaches. Weed Beach, located across a bay from Stamford, has something of a mystical quality to it. It is where high schoolers go in the summertime to smoke out (yes, the name is a coincidence), where the passionate but slightly off-tune sounds of local bands fill humid night air. Weed Beach has woodlands to wander through, a hidden playground through a clearing of trees, paddle tennis courts that I think only ghosts use, and lots and lots of weeds, making every step into the water squishy and unsure. But Pear Tree Point is the beach where you get things done. It's got boat docks attached, so it's the starting point for many a "booze cruise", a favorite pasttime of the Darienite. Families love Pear Tree Point, probably because it's shaped in such a way that it's easy for the kids to stay in view; there's nowhere to disappear to. So children go about producing their childlike things: sandcastles, trenches for the water to flow through, holes to bury themselves in. Pear Tree Point has a gazebo at its center, perched on top of rocks. It's perfect for eating a hamburger and fries from the concession stand during the day, and for making out at night. Pear Tree Point is situated along Long Neck Point, location of some of the fanciest houses in this very, very fancy part of the world. If you're the kind of person who likes to gawk at luxurious homes a la Newport, Rhode Island, then it's worth a slow drive down Long Neck Point road until you get to the end, which is a former girls' school now converted, I think, into residences. The atmosphere is rarefied, elegant, and oh-so-preppy. Pear Tree Point, like all the beaches in southern Fairfield County, has a kind of rough sand, and the water's generally cold. Tahiti it is not. The sun, like so many phenomena in the New York area, is either too dim or too scorching. It takes a certain toughness to enjoy beachgoing in the northeastern part of the United States. But after a day being there, you feel as if you have accompilshed something, and accomplishment, after all, is the highest personal value among most Darienites who bring the never-stop-achieving ethos of New York City back to their town.

The snack bar "uncles by the shore" is owned by uncles deli which is situated on the post road in Darien and closes around 3pm I believe which is pretty annoying. One star off for their gross bathrooms. This beach is smaller than weed beach and does not have a pavilion like weed beach but has a cute gazebo and plenty of space. If you're lucky enough to even get in.
