I recently called Pathway Insurance requesting a quote for my trucking company due to the fact that…read moremy current insurance company would be dropping me effective May 26, 2018 due to an accident caused by my previous driver that resulted in a large claim. My current agent Chris however, was still looking around trying to find me coverage. Mr. Jack Thomas informed me that he will be able to assist me but also advised me to not call any other insurance companies because it does not look good to the underwriters and I could possibly be blackballed by all insurance companies. He also advised that they work with an Insurance company called PRIME INSURANCE who they could get a quote for a person like myself who is considered high risk. I had informed Jack that I had called approximately 8 different insurance companies prior to calling him. However, days passed and it was getting closer to the deadline. My current agent Chris contacted me before Jack with a quote which was fairly reasonable from PRIME INSURANCE. A few days later I was contacted by Tara Obanion who also works for Pathway Insurance with a quote that was significantly more. It was obvious for me to go with the better deal. I paid my deposit to my current agent Chris and received my coverage for my business. From my understanding it's an Insurance agent's job to find you quotes for insurance and if you decide to go with the quote they offer that's a plus for them. However, if you decide to go with a quote from another agent it's your choice, you do not owe the other insurance agents who offered you quotes a dime. A few days later I started receiving the following messages via text from Jack Thomas and Tara Obanion simply because I decided to pay my money to my current agent for insurance coverage. I copied these messages from my phone and sent them to my email. In addition I called Jack after receiving these messages trying to gain an understanding of the matter. Jack simply stated to me "You are an un-ethical business owner. Do not call us ever again." and hung up the phone. ***** Hello, This is Tara from Pathway Insurance, I received a notice that another agent is taking over the hard work that I did to provide you an insurance quote. Can you please call me? Thank you! Tara 513-662-7000 *****Lashunda, My assistant Tara advised me that your former agent did an agent of record on a company we found and worked hard to get for you including an underwriting call we did with you plus the many questions we answered for you last week. (Prime Insurance) If your existing agent had this company in the 1st place why did they not present it to you initially? My guess is that they did not have the company until you told them who you were going with. We invested around 6 hours of employee time at $50 per hour. I would like you to reimburse us our time since we did all of the work without any of the benefit of compensation. Please send a check payable to Pathway Insurance in the amount of $300 to reimburse us for our time that was invested in helping your company stay afloat. It's obvious your agent did not have this company in the 1st place, yet we are responsible for your company remaining in business because we found this company for you, not your current agent. I will send you our mailing address in the next text. If you do not reimburse us for our time please do not contact us again in the future for quotes as we consider this a highly unethical business practice- We did all of the work and received no compensation for our efforts.
