It is a very popular bakery with lots of footfall from both local businesses, motorists on their way pastand it is also very popular with the local residents. It is family run and the other staff have been there for years so there is a familiar intimate feel about the place. Although it is only fairly small, it does a great range of both warm and cold items. You could have soup and a roll, or a heated pasty - both meat eaters and vegetarians are catered for. They do a wide choice of filled rolls, fresh fruit, sausage rolls, cakes and biscuits and a small range of crisps and chocolatey items. There is also a chilled cabinet where you could pick up a pint of milk if you had run out. If the bun you want isn't there you can ask them to make you one and they also do a great salad box if you want to be a bit healthier. If its a cake for a special occasion you are after that is also not a problem, you can pre-order a decorated cake in many themes to suit your requirements. Highly recommended.

I can honestly say that the fresh bread here is some of the best I've ever tasted. I didn't think we needed more cake, but my friend was SURE that we needed to try at least one of their tasty treats!! The main problem is, everything looks so good- how can you choose!? We asked the staff who told us their seven (!) favourites. The best options included a peanut butter and jelly éclair, passionfruit cheese cake, chocolate ganache heaven...I could go on... They have good cake options!! Why you should visit: - It is a cute little shop - Their cakes are gorgeous - The ladies behind the counter are *so* sweet! In the end, they even gave us recommendations for decent bars...so we ended up with cake AND wine. It was a good Saturday.

Upon chowing down on the said sarnie, however, you will wonder where the devil this genial little bakery is, for anywhere that fills your hungry chops so delectably must be worth a visit, and is well worth the extravagance of price. The better thing to do, however, is take your best tweeds to St Pauls (theyre only telling you Montpelier to make you feel safer), turn off Ashley Road on to York Road, and you will see a mischievously graffitied building upon which is daubed the nomenclature of this fantastic establishment. Inside you will see, for a third of the price, the finest collection of baked goodies in all of Bristol. Pick some up. Pay for them. Take them home. Eat them. Feel proud that you have been to "the dangerous part of town". Save yourself from the ridiculous expense of exported Herberts bread, forever!
