A deposit of 1/3 of the total project cost was made to Mr Jerry Hartness. The project was supposed to start immediately and finish before Thanksgiving, but It never took off. Mr Hartness took the check and just disappeared. We tried to contact him several times by email and phone and every time he gave us false promises and sometimes lies. In December he finally came by our house and after a discussion on how to move with the project, he asked for more money to be able to continue. We were shocked that he could ask for more money as at that point the only thing he had done was to tear down the old deck and partially regrade the yard! This should not have cost not even 1/3 of the money he received from us. Obviously, we refused to give him more money and he ran way, and we never heard from him again. We contacted him several times to give us our money back, but he ignored our messages. I guess the only option left to us is the court!
