Initially, I…read morewas surprised as I had gone to two other nationally recognized ophthalmologists who specialized in LASIK and both told me I was a perfect candidate. Both of the other doctors missed that I had a history of severe dry eyes whereas Dr. Patel knew from just a 10 minute eye exam. I ended up getting PRK and on the day of my surgery, I was guided through all my questions, concerns, and given detailed instructions on what to do post surgery and what to expect during recovery. The surgery was surprisingly quick and painless. I was given a goodie bag with drops and lubricant. I followed the directions (use the lubricant liberally!) and although the first couple days were painful and I mostly slept, I could see decently in about a week and almost perfectly within 2-3 weeks. It's been nearly a year from my surgery and I can't begin to tell you much my life has improved without glasses. I'm so glad I listened to Dr. Patel's advice for PRK because even though the recovery time was longer, I have zero issues with dry eyes. I've never felt more appreciated and cared for at any other doctor's office than at WVI.

SURGERY & NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE at KANSAS SURGERY & RECOVERY CENTER. They were upset bc I took 3 hrs…read moreto wake up from the anesthesia. They also gave me fentanyl for pain when I was in the recovery rm w no food from prior to midnight but then were upset at how sick & incapacitated I was. A lady came in & talked loud enough for the entire recovery unit to hear. She said pain is part of having surgery & I should be discharged already. My elderly dad said I needed to at least be able to walk bc if I fell he wouldn't be able to catch me. She said you don't try to catch her. You just let her fall & then call 911! Nurse helped me get dressed but I was so nauseous, weak & woozy, foggy brained, & couldn't hold my head up but for a couple seconds at a time bc I was going to vomit. I kept having to put my head down. After I was dressed, nurse wanted to go over discharge paperwork but I urgently needed the bathroom. I had not been since before my surgery. She had Kennedy take me in a wheelchair. I wasn't able to put my head down anywhere & ended up not being able to make it. I projectile vomited at least twice into the vomit bag I was holding. The force of that caused me to lose control of my bladder. I was so miserably sick, disoriented, weak, & now extremely embarrassed bc I urinated myself while still in the wheelchair. Kennedy was compassionate & said this happens more than you know & helped me get up. I had to have my head & body leaning against the wall to maneuver myself into the bathroom bc I was so weak & horribly sick. Kennedy helped me get seated onto the toilet that was thankfully in a corner so I could lean against the wall my. I'm still utterly sick & vomiting & helpless on a toilet now w no pants on either. Some other lady (I think Carly) barges in on me even though I said don't come in & demands to know what's going on. I'm waiting for Kennedy to bring me clean clothes from my bag in my recovery room. She crouches down right in front of me on the toilet & stares in my face. I told her & begged that I just need to lay down for a little bit. That made her eyes harder & she told me she knows that other lady already talked to me. She said I was only slated to be in recovery for 2 hrs & I had been there for 5 hrs now. I'm so horribly, horribly sick, confused & foggy brained & this hateful lady is raising her voice at me right in front of me while I'm so sick & helpless on the toilet with no pants on. I hear some other lady's voice come to ask what's going on. The lady that had barged in on me got up & opened the bathroom door all the way & held it open exposing me to maximum view with no regard for my privacy as she continued ranting. I had to tell her to close the door; to leave & close the door. I couldn't understand why they were so angry & attacking me when I had had surgery there & I was just trying to be ok enough to go home. These ladies had no concern for how sick & drugged up I was or for how miserably incapacitated & helpless I was. I just cried & couldn't believe how much they humiliated me when I was just begging to please let me lay my head down long enough so I could walk & not be throwing up anymore. They kicked me out of the hospital in that condition from the bathroom. No one went over discharge instructions with me either. I can't believe they do this to people & it was a real life nightmare...

My son was taken to wm Newton hospital by ambulance 09/27/2025 for a seizure that wouldn't stop…read more They diagnosed him with low sodium 122 which can cause seizures and death at that value, he wasn't treated for low sodium, only given keppra a seizure drug, that he already takes, and sent home, he still wasn't fully responsive, we took him to KU in Kansas City ourselves since wm Newton wouldn't help us get him there, this is about the 4th time wm Newton has played with our sons life like this, our son is very fragile. Anyway he was immediately triaged and ER care started. When he was stabilized he was admitted to a room in KU hospital, at this point he has several team of Dr's working on him. He is not ok and if we. Had taken him home like they ordered us to do he would have died I would like to know where they get these so called Dr from that Wm Newton hospital uses, I was told from someone in the general public that the one Dr that is in the ER dept of wm Newton a lot is called Dr death in the general community due to him sending critical ill patients home from the ER saying nothing wrong just to have them either die or end up being admitted to another hospital in serious condition. I will let Wm Newton Hospital know that when I am trying to get my son care I don't want him admitted to their hospital, what I want is for them to help me get him to a hospital that can handle his complex needs, and if he dies in the process of trying to get this done after he has first visited their ER, I will sue for wrongful death, and I will win, I have to much documentation of how he has been treated in the past at this hospital.
