I always like to stop into the Romany Kramoris Gallery to see the local art, peruse the jazz CDs…read moreand their wide selection of books. However, my experiences have mostly consisted of only browsing, because the prices are WAAAAY off the mark. They label all the CDs on the shelf inside as $20. This could either be really good, or really bad depending on what you come across. I've seen busted up, repackaged old jazz and blues CDs that I could probably get for $5 in FYE or Barnes and Noble or even one of the local record stores on the east end with a $20 sticker on it. I've seen completely mint double albums still in the shrink wrap for $20 that would probably run up $40-$50 anyplace else. However, it's not limited to jazz music, that's just my taste. They have a wide selection of pop, country, classic rock, modern rock, and probably the most diverse collection of world and international music, much of which is labeled by country of origin (e.g. shelves with Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, etc). That's cool to investigate, but once more- every CD is labeled as $20. So it's a complete crap shoot as far as the CDs are concerned. The books are always interesting, many about art and spirituality and science, but also much about local lore and history. Again, prices are questionable. The art is always fun to look at, and it's displayed prominently up front, but I've seen paintings by local artists I've never heard of that are quasi-abstract expressionist east end Pollock regurgitations with $30,000 price tags on them! Fun to look at, but man I have no clue how any of them get sold. I guess if you can afford to live in Sag Harbor, you could afford a $30,000 mediocre painting. However, some of the more crafty things and smaller prints and paintings are worth the prices charged and are well made. They have a large collection of Day of the Dead sculptures and carvings that are vibrant and aesthetically pleasing. My dad bought one of a casket that has a skeleton open the cover when you pull a drawstring! Very fun. There is a basket out front of $4 CDs, but most of the cases are cracked and broken, and the reason they're $4... the music on the CDs simply blows logs. Strange forgotten reggaeton dancehall grooves from the mid 90s, mindless New Age Kenny G smooth jazz that couldn't sell soul to the Devil himself, and awkward post-grunge outfits that fell through the cracks of the culture's collective puberty and was thrown out with the old toys all inhabit the $4 basket out front. Amusing to look through, yes. But not worth a purchase unless you are in the mood for a hearty belly laugh. So for the time being, I will continue to return to the Romany Kramoris Gallery and see the sights, and perhaps land a great deal on that double album I've always been looking for. But until that day, I'll continue to gawk at the prices, contemplate the art, and see the forsaken albums that the music industry forgot.

Trash art merchandising by a pushy, in-your-face, annoying little woman who carelessly slammed…read moreartworks into each other while showing them to me. She obviously doesn't care about art at all. And she doesn't know anything about art either. Trump tapestries, collages made out of candy wrappers, pictures of asses made of little pictures of asses. Hilariously awful, worth a stop just for the giggle. This dealer will cut her own throat - or maybe it is the artist's throat? - to make a sale. Not that there is anything to buy, but it is amusing sport to watch her keep dropping price in the hope that you just *might* buy something. See how low she'll go!

I love this gallery!…read more The location is perfect for a walk-through as you stroll around town. The staff is super-friendly and always willing to take the time to discuss a particular piece or an artist. Monika is extremely well educated on the artists she premiers and is willing to spend the time to answer questions. The gallery is always very tidy and well light. This place is a must-see!! Really cool stuff, from abstract to pop art!

He continued to glare as if they'd steal something off his walls. In fact they were standing 4-5 feet from the exhibits and had no intention of handling anything. They've been to numerous galleries before. I don't know what to make of the owner's overt hostility but I know an unwelcoming overpriced gallery when I see one. If the gallery owner treats everyone this way it is plainly wrong; if he somehow singled out my sons because of their appearance it is even worse. I'd be ashamed to own a piece from any gallery that treats visitors with this level of disrespect.

In fact the theater…read morewas destroyed by a terrible fire several few years ago, but has since been completely rebuilt. Modern building with small viewing rooms on 3 floors (elevator available) with a nostalgic feel, friendly knowledgeable staff, comfy seating, and indie movie offerings. We saw "Touch" there, a beautiful film that takes place in London, Tokyo and Iceland. Unique, romantic and heartwarming. The Sag Harbor Cinema has an upstairs rooftop bar, plus snacks/merch for sale in the downstairs lobby. It's a nonprofit org with various community events as well. We reserved our tickets online but they do accommodate walk-ins. A real find for movie buffs.

It didn't burn down five times -- only once, and... well we'll talk about that later. Every film I've seen there - which is either simply the best handpicked, curated new releases, or quintessential film programs filled with expertly divined cinema classics - has been a magical movie experience I'll never forget. It's cinema houses like this, not art house - not just mainstream AMC megaplexes - Sag Harbor Cinema is the reason that I got into film in the first place. It reminds me of a Denver Colorado cinema where I went to see my first movie... "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." I'll never forget that. I've always looked for a similar feel and found it here. It may be small but it is mighty! However, it is important to note that we had "THE" BEST tour guide - Sandra. Not only was she full of interesting facts & information, she clearly loves what she's doing. I would love to visit again just to hear her share her knowledge and experiences with the wild life here on Long Island. After our tour of the museum, we ventured out to the turtle house and endless trails in the preserve. We saw a baby osprey in the nearby nest as well as quite a few deer as it was dusk. Be careful of ticks and chiggers.

We were the only ones in the museum at the time so the clerk who checked us in gave me son extra attention and showed him different things he could do upstairs. When we went down the touch tank, the person watching over and helping with the touch tank Milo was really awesome. The clerk upstairs was really awesome to but I don't remember her name. He took out a turtle that they have to keep at the nature center for my son to look at as a birthday surprise he was very attentive and nice to my son. We didn't get to hike the trails nearby although when I'm with my son the hiking is kind of limited. I want to come back one day to hike the trails here. We went outside on the deck for awhile which was nice. This is a beautiful and interesting museum worth going to.
