Dr. Legualt is the most professional, knowledgeable, and animal conscientious vet I have ever used…read morewith my horses. I have used him as my vet for the 20+ horses at my farm since 2005. At this point, I have had him out many. many times- both for major situations and also for routine visits. He is very calm and always takes the time to make sure that horses are not frightened during vaccinations or examinations. When dealing with medical emergencies or ill horses, he is always methodical in making decisions, weighing the best option for the animal and the owner. He literally saved the life of one of my horses with a severe injury that severed a main artery. Dr Legault has the experience to handle major injuries, and the ability to remain calm in even the most serious, stressful situations. He has never disappointed me and his prices have always been fair. He respects me enough as a horse owner to walk me through minor problems that come up via phone calls. He is still always ready to come out in the event that I am not able to handle the situation, but understands that some things I just may need advice on- not a farm call. My horses are lucky to be under his care. I highly recommend Mountain View Equine services.

The most recent incident was when my 31 year old pony had issues with weight loss and I had Dr. Legault come out and instead of diagnosing the problem, prescribed a medication for his breathing (not the issue). While I was at work in October my Pony was down and my husband and my neighbor got him up on his feet, Dr. Legault was called, 15 minutes later on the ride home I called Dr. Legault to tell him to put the pony down as I knew that it was his time and I didn't want him suffering Dr. Legault said "Oh I already left, it's going to be a nice day tomorrow". He said the pony was doing fine. When I got home I called a 2nd vet to come and put the pony down, he could not come until the next day. THAT PONY SUFFERED ALL NIGHT BECAUSE OF DR. LEGAULT. The 2nd vet came in the morning and put him to sleep (he'd been down overnight).

After years as a patient, I called to schedule urgent bloodwork for my dog following a positive…read moreanaplasmosis test. I was put on hold mid-call and transferred -- without introduction -- to someone who turned out to be the hospital manager. When I calmly raised concerns about the practice, she spoke over me and dismissed them. When I expressed frustration with a receptionist interaction, she took personal offense and told me I should look elsewhere. When I asked specifically to see my dog's established veterinarian, Dr. Guida, I was refused. I asked directly whether they were denying urgent care to an existing patient. No answer. Her parting message was words to the effect that they could not accept my dog as a patient based on concerns I raised during that call. She then hung up. The manager refused to give her last name throughout the call. Think about that. A sick dog was denied access to her own vet -- not for anything I did wrong, but because a manager didn't want to hear critical feedback. I never raised my voice. I never made threats. I gave feedback. This wasn't an isolated frustration. Over the years I noticed a pattern: Saturday hours posted when the practice was actually closed, no acknowledgment of errors when raised, and routine upselling without discussion of alternatives -- a post-surgical cone priced well above what the same product costs elsewhere. Dr. Guida is a genuinely skilled and compassionate veterinarian -- she was wonderful with both of my dogs over the years, and leaving her care is a real loss. She deserves better support than this practice provides. I have since found excellent care elsewhere.
