I was travelling alone to Niagara Falls, and due to a train service disruption, I had to book a FlixBus at the last moment. When I approached the customer service representative to ask where the stop for St. Catharines was, he was extremely rude to me. I simply wanted to know how far it was from the Falls, but he said, "I have no idea, I have a line-up--be quick," in a very dismissive tone. I took a bus round trip from Toronto Pearson Airport to Buffalo downtown. The bus pickup location at Pearson is pretty challenging to find. I had to ask several different airport workers because there was no signage. Seemed like there were quite a few of us confused. Worse still, there was no one from Greyhound letting anyone know how late the buses were running. Mine arrived almost two hours late, which put me into Buffalo well after midnight the next morning. We got routed to the Toronto downtown station to wait, again, for almost an hour. There was no food inside the station other than a vending machine, and given the late hour, I didn't venture outside to look. The station was clean and seats were hard. When our bus finally arrived, we boarded, traveled maybe a mile downtown, only to have our bus pull over because it was broken. We were routed back to the station to wait, again, for a replacement bus. Communication between Greyhound and passengers could have been much better about this situation as no one knew what was going on. Still, for less than $40 round trip Toronto to Buffalo, it could have been worse. read more

Greyhound is not that good. I do find it depends on the destination though. When I go to kitchener and take the greyhound. It's usually fine. Yet coming across the border seems to be another issue altogether. On route to NYC as I write this and we are already an 1 and a half behind schedule. With traffic, it seems there would be an additional 30 minutes delay. So traffic isnt something anyone can control. The only thing drivers can do is plan ahead of time and accommodate their schedules accordingly. When we had passed the border in Buffalo, we dismounted, went through customs.we got back on the bus. We were good to go. We then went to the Buffalo bus station and were all asked to leave the bus. We were given a reboarding slip. Yet, this is what contributed to our time loss. Not to mention leaving Toronto later than our original departure time. Also when we had arrived in New Wark. Greyhound decided to turn off the operating system for the bus driver /bus we were on. Whereby, he had to then connect to another greyhound bus heading to NYC. The second bus was still accepting passengers which was bizarre. Theres supposed to be a cut-off time for that. Yet that seemed to be disregarded. An additional 30 minutes left us waiting even more. Finally, we were off and headed toward the Big Apple. All in all, I likely wont be taking the bus this way again. Far too long and too much of a hassle! Our bus driver was a newbie, he was super nice and apologetic. Do NOT travel with this company. There is an overwhelming number of people that have been ripped off, stranded and put in legitimate danger by this company and I am one of them. They do not care about your health or safety in the slightest. If you do travel with them note that if you purchase a non-refundable ticket and they cancel your bus 3 hours after it was supposed to come and you get stranded in New York City by yourself at 3AM with nowhere to stay they will not help you, and you will never get that money back. You are honestly probably better off walking from Toronto to New York City if your option is between that and taking the Greyhound. May even get there faster. read more

Fist time on greyhound is the last for me. Firstly because on 10th of Nov 2023 a bus was scheduled to leave Port New York for 1040pm arriving in Canada for 1030 that never came until 125am Nov 11th 2023. A 15 year old girl was touched by an older man and greyhound did not call the police I'm still wondering why. Secondly the items in my bag were stolen and the last person I saw with my bag in hand, was the bus driver. I didnt see him take anything out the bag. But what I can say is that when I got out the bus I left my stuff in there. Bear in mind the bus was parked with no one was inside but the driver. Greyhound bus lines are not reliable. Thier customer sevice is the worst .They don't value passenger time and the bus delays are outrageous. Thier driver left us in Buffalo terminal for almost 24 hours waiting because they have no driver to continue the trip .I called them to transfer the tickets to another bus line but they didn't answer all my 25 calls. So I had to arrange my trip back and I couldn't wait due to health issues and no food or accommodation. Conclusions: They didn't refund my $150 that I paid extra because of thier poor management. I booked a trip recently with Greyhound Bus Lines from Ottawa to Sudbury. I called in to cancel my ticket, today, and they gave me the run-around. First off, the toll-free number told me that I had to call the station, then the station in Ottawa told me I had to call the head office in Toronto. When I got a call back from the HQ in Toronto I was told to call the toll free number again, this is absolutely ridiculous. I have never jumped through so many hoops just to get a process started. Finally, after some time I got a supervisor from Greyhound on the line, he was extremely rude, and he didn't even let me finish a sentence. He connected me with customer support where they took all my information down and kept me on the line for 35 MINUTES before telling me there was nothing he could do! As someone who travels a lot, by rail and air, I have NEVER been subject to such disgusting business practices. This is not consumer-friendly, and they do not care about the customer experience in any way shape or form. STAY AWAY FROM GREYHOUND, walk before you ride with them! Just don't even book. Their prices are outrageous, you are going to get delays. They only issue vouchers that expire in one year. They DO NOT provide refunds. Even if you book accidentally to another city/day/time and want a refund, they do not provide it. If you plan on using this "service", you're a fool. I wish I could review the actual bus ride, but we never got to do that. We started looking at some of the reviews and noticed that they were poor. As a result we wanted to check the situation with our busing and noticed that they had canceled part of our trip without telling us! This made our trip unfeasible, and therefore there was no point in leaving. Customer service, when we called, told us the best they could offer us was a voucher and that if we wanted a refund, we needed to email a different leg of customer service. That email resulted in us being told that there was absolutely no way we could get a refund, and that all we would ever see is a voucher for a service we have no intention of ever using again. I'm out $200 and have had to book more expensive travel arrangements. I honestly have no idea how this company stays in business, and perhaps the repeated reviews indicating that bus trips were being canceled is indicative that they won't be for long. read more

We used Greyhound from Mississauga to Niagara Falls and back for a short holiday. While we had no issues on the way to Niagara, the bus back....filthy. Windows filthy on the inside, with everything imaginable smeared on them. Ripped seats. Garbage strewn everywhere. I could only hope that these buses are cleaned at least once a day, as I imagine there is no time to clean them between daily trips. I could forgive all the above if only the entire bus didn't reek of urine...and I mean reek. Either the washroom badly needed cleaning or someone just let go somewhere in the bus, but Jesus Christ, this was unbelievable. First and last time using the Greyhound service. read more

Greyhound Ottawa station: Terrible security staff. I was late for my bus for 3 minutes they didn't let me get in although I could see the bus in the station because of "security reasons" it is funny that if their buses are late for 30 minutes passengers should be totally fine with it but if a passenger is late for 3 minutes and the bus is right there in the station they dont let you get on it. anyways this was almost fine with me. But instead of just telling me I can't get on the bus the security staff just out right ridiculed me. No respect for the costumers. I ended up taking the train. Highly Unprofessional, Stay away from Greyhound. Booked tickets well in advance for travelling from Niagara Falls to Toronto but was denied boarding saying that the bus is overbooked. Whats the point in buying tickets in advance if there isn't a seat reserved for you. All buses for the day were overbooked and the only option that I was given is to stand during the entire journey. Do not ride on greyhound buses. They are unreliable, late over 30 min almost 100% of the time, unsafe at times and have the worst customer service I have ever experienced with any company. Recently my daughter took a trip from Waterloo to Toronto that was supposed to be direct/non-stop. There wasn't enough room on the bus that arrived to take all the passengers. As a result, they put the extra passengers in the aisle and drove to Kitchener where they dropped off the passengers that were in the aisle. They are they were told to wait for another bus and not told when that would be coming. When I called Customer Service to complain about the safety issue, I was told that only the passenger themselves can call to complain. After transferring me to a different department. they eventually took a report. I was told that they cannot give me information about next steps or even an approximate time frame to call back to inquire about the status of the case. read more

I have really really low expectation... and I been warned by all my friends about my decision of taking a Greyhound bus to NYC! 10 hours+ bus ride... with over 50 strangers... in a cramped space... Good thing about taking a Coach is I can pack all the liquids I want without worrying about TSA.. One or 2 suitcases without any surcharges...I will be right downtown when I arrive in NYC without taking another bus/train/taxi...It is less than 1/4 the price I am paying if I fly!! Bad thing of course is the long long time it takes to get there!! Wifi though slow worked fine.. I have 2 outlets to charge my phones... The immigration process was painless, I have much longer lines at YYZ...I slept all the way through...Zzzzzz..everyone on the bus were sleeping!! I did have a little incident since my first bus blew a tire... but our driver handled that efficiently with another replacement bus waiting for us at the next closest bus station!! Yes I am crazy.. I would take a bus again... but it has to be an overnight ride and I can just wake up and be at my destination!! read more

If I were to give a review of this two years ago, it would've been a two star or less. However, Greyhound has recently improved in a few aspects that I'm comfortable in giving it three stars. It starts with the fact Greyhound recently got some new buses for their SW Ontario routes (Guelph, K/W, London, etc). These new buses have wi-fi equipped. Yay, plug ins! Also, Greyhound has increased the amount of spare buses on peak travel times, usually via local bus companies such as Wills, AZ Bus Tours, Denny's, Kunkel, etc. Therefore you'll be guaranteed a bus, though maybe not exactly at your scheduled time, but hey as long as it comes... That being said, however, some drivers seem to love taking long breaks, even if it's after the scheduled departure time. Hello, we have places to go! read more

Personally I think ground transport is A OK and sometimes I honestly prefer it over air transport as long as the trip is short and requires no transfers. First off no TSA. Which means you get to keep your belt and shoes on, you get to keep your drinks in your carry-on, and best of all no random security checks. Sure the trip is longer. But they got free WiFi to keep you busy, outlets in case you want to plug in, and frequent stops at different states / provinces in case you get hungry. Seats are spacier and more comfortable than plane seats and I had no problem sleeping. Keep in mind there are multiple air and ground transport options. Examine them all before making a decision. Try to book online and in advance. I would not recommend greyhound if your trip is too long and requires multiple transfers. read more

STAY FAR AWAY!! I had to attend my daughter's wedding in the morning. But missed the ceremony , because they cancelled their bus for 24 hours. I was furious so I called their customer service and they have terrible attitude and only made the situation worse. They made me wait for 12 hours in a cold station at night in the middle of New York, there was not even a place to sit down. I had to stand in a cold night crying to myself because I missed my daughter's wedding. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU , they just want your money. In short, there are a ton of flaws with Greyhound but it's great when it takes you directly to where you need to go. ALWAYS buy online to avoid the ticket lineup, although this year the service fee has doubled to $3. Their system is so old and really needs an upgrade, I'm not sure why the US site is in such a spiffy state while the Canadian site is still versions behind. Also, you cannot buy tickets online using Safari because location auto-fill doesn't work. The busses typically do not depart on time because they are often driving in from other locations. No real time location services so you will never know how long you have to wait or how late you might be getting to your destination. (I am also bugged out that Greyhound transit still isn't on Google Maps yet but that's a different story). I've taken the K-W to/from Toronto many times - it's always been a very frequent line and it's definitely improved over the years. My tip is to get to the station 30 min early because if you don't get on that first bus, you probably have to wait 10 or so more minutes for the 2nd one, plus you'll still have to go through all the in between stops. Before, they would be lenient with letting you on with a same day ticket with a different time, but apparently they are finally being more strict with it. I have done a roundtrip to NY in the past and I really don't recommend it. It's the cheap way but don't even think about being able to do anything the morning you arrive. It's impossible to get sleep on there and for some reason they often use the older busses for these trips. This bus tends to be really popular, too, so it's best to start waiting in line 45min early if you want to get seats close together within your travel group. The bus drivers themselves tend to be great and informative. Some are so kind they drop off passengers closer to their homes so they don't have to bus or taxi home from the main station. read more

I had a good experience for the Greyhound bus lines. I took the line from Toronto to Waterloo, university and both times, my ride was efficient and not too expensive (around $14) which is slightly cheaper than the GO and I didn't need to walk 700m to transfer to a different bus. The bus took off fairly on time, going into Waterloo, the bus was actually almost 40 minutes early. Even though we had a long delay for the early part of the journey, no one had to get off at the stop in Guelph so it made up for it. There's space in the bottom of the bus to load luggage and small carry-ons could be placed at the top. There's definitely some newer buses with comfier seating and charging stations of the bus, but not all the buses had that. Coming back out to Toronto, there was a minor 10minute delay but that was cause by unexpected traffic. Both rides were fairly smooth for this journey, I would recommend taking this line in the future. read more

2 star for Greyhound over long distances. 3 star for anything under 2 hours. There are better ways to travel with slightly more expensive options. I find when I take the Greyhound or Coach Canada that it's an extremely inconsistent experience. Depending on which bus shows up you may or may not get wifi and you may or may not get an ok seat. I really hate that about the buses and have moved to the train recently. If I'm in a short haul which means anything around 2 hours or less I don't mind the bus otherwise I'd take the train or a plane. read more

Driver had very bad behaviour !! 1- At the first time to get to the bus I had felt very bad smell of urine and having shared this matter with the driver, he refused to reply respectfully. He even said they have the bus clean every time AND HE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE of the smell! 2- 20 minutes before arriving to Niagara Falls, the bus stopped and I asked driver where is toilet? Because my son had pee and poo (he is only 4 years old). The driver said the toilet of the terminal doesn't open yet and he has to wait 20 minutes!!! I mentioned that he cannot. After several time He said take your kid to the trees to urinate. After doing that one of the passengers told me there is a toilet in the bus!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE the driver kept telling me the whole way to tell my son to keep his urine, instead of telling me there is a toilet inside the bus!!!!!!!!!!!! When I asked him why you didn't tell me? He said because you didn't ask me?!!!!!!! 3- Finally, when I went to the toilet I understood that the whole awful smell has been from the very dirty restroom which was covered in urine and shit. I was so angry and he said I am not cleaner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4- At the end of the trip when I asked for his name to write a review, he refused to tell me his name, while this is the definite right of every passenger to know the name of the driver. No communication from the bus driver to notify the passengers for the reasoning of why we are stopped. I booked a trip from Dayton to Toronto ( 3-sept 6:20am - Dayton - Cleveland - Buffalo - Toronto) almost a week in advance. I was supposed to reach Toronto 9pm same day. This was my first time with Greyhound. Driver missed the exit on interstate and drove into farms and then was lost. In panic, trying to find her way back to intersate highway, she scractched a SUV and SUV owner called the cops. Driver was keen in trying to set herself clean with cops for the incident and least bothered about the bus passengers and their valuable time. Although police officer let driver go after all the paperwork she was buzy building the rapo with the cop which terribily further delayed the bus by two hours. We had a connection at cleveland, almost half the bus was supposed to board the Cleveland - Buffalo bus but Greyhoud let the bus go at scheduled time 12:45pm than wait for just 20 more mins, despite the fact that the delay was caused due to Greyhound's driver's fault. We all were put on next bus that was supposed to depart at 8pm same day and Buffalo - Toronto was now pushed to next day 8 am. Greyhoud didnt bother to hold Cleveland - Buffalo bus for half the passengers who were supposed to board this bus rather make their journey even more worse. As I was arriving Buffalo at 11pm and bus for Toronto now leaves next day at 8pm, Greyhound told me that they have made a hotel booking for me at buffalo. I got the text message that the hotel is booked with a confirmation number. 8:25 pm Cleveland - Buffalo bus was delayed and arrived at 9:30 pm. We all reached Buffalo at 1am. Although my hotel was booked but there was no arragement made to transfer me from Greyhound bus station to the hotel which was 10 miles away. I managed to book a uber ride (after multiple cancellations) to the hotel to findout that there was no reservation made by Greyhoud at this hotel. Worst, hotel didnt had any rooms left. So I took another Uber back to busstation at 3am in the mid night. Spend all night at the bus station with other similar passengers. There were senior citizens and parents with very small kids waiting at the busstop. All this trauma for the passengers could have been avoided if Greyhound would have delayed the Cleveland - Buffalo bus by just 20 mins and waited for Cincinnati - Cleveland bus passengers to board. Very poor management, unprofessional and inadequately trained staff led to such a disastrous trip. Mismanagement at this level is totally intolerable and unacceptable. Another really backward issue with Greyhound Canada. If you purchase a ticket online you have 2 options: 1) you must print out your ticket and give a hard copy of it to the driver when you are boarding the bus; 2) with this second option you buy your ticket online & you pickup your ticket at the bus station at least an hour before you board the bus and you must bring photo id with you! Going back to option #1, you should be allowed to show your e-ticket that you have on your smartphone screen (that you bought online) to the driver as you are boarding the bus!! You can show your e-ticket to the conductor on Via Rail as proof of payment but you can't do this on Greyhound Canada! That is just so stupid and dumb in this hi tech age! Seems like Greyhound wants passengers to hand the drivers hard copies of all bus tickets! Get with the times Greyhound! Wake up and smell the coffee! read more

This is my one and only experience with Greyhound and I am thoroughly unimpressed. I purchased a round-trip ticket for my brother-in-law to visit us, but he informed us after the purchase that he had a ride back home and didn't need the second ticket. I was hopeful that Greyhound would provide a refund, as I was unable to find any reference to the tickets being non-refundable. I emailed them a week ago and received no response, so today, I called them. When I reached a representative, I offered my confirmation number which she said wasn't good enough, so I reminded her once again that I had already emailed without a response, so I could not provide the a number assigned to the issue. She eventually searched by my confirmation number. She let me know that the ticket was non-refundable, so I pointed out that I had looked for reference to this information and suggested that this should be added to their website. Apparently it was... buried deeply enough in the terms and conditions that it took her nearly five minutes to actually find it. At my company, we are all about transparency, and I wish that Greyhound had the same morals. I don't really care if your tickets are non-refundable if you make that information obvious at the time of booking, rather than hiding it to lull customers into purchasing without apprehension. Very unimpressed, and will not be purchasing in the future. I'd rather support a company that treats their customers with respect. read more

Very disappointed with my greyhound experience. Do not travel with this company unless your stop is the first stop....We spent a day at Niagara falls and we booked the 10:50pm bus that was supposed to arrive Toronto at 12:10am. We arrived at the Niagara falls stations at 10:15, well before the departure time as per the ticket instructions. When we got there, I saw a sign which stated that the station CLOSES at 10:30pm. I shrugged it off, assuming we would have to wait probably 30 mins or so for the bus to arrive. At 10:30pm, we were asked to leave the station and wait by the gate. Then the wait began...When the bus didn't show by 11pm it was a little concerning, but we continued to wait, with 18 other people. We saw the sign (very unhelpful) that said that the buses may be delayed at customs...The sign had no indication of how long the delay could be up to...(one hour? Two? Al night?). Several people tried to call customer support, but no one picked up as all the offices were closed. As the night went on, the wind picked up...The cold became too much for the children. One man went to the station and pleaded with the cleaner to let the kids and ppl who were cold into the station. The cleaner (a very nice man) said he would lose his job because he wasn't allowed to let people into the station. In the end, he allowed some people, putting his job at risk. The cleaner also informed us that the Greyhound buses that were supposed to departure at 10:50 have came late everyday...Arriving at around midnight. At 11:45pm, a bus came, but it was picking up only 4 people who weren't going to Toronto. The driver informed us that there was another bus coming for us, about 20 mins behind. Finally at 12:10am, the bus arrived. It's insane that the company can get away with doing this. This isn't "lateness"...this is just irresponsible. If your buses are CONSTANTLY over an hour late, then you need to make that clear BEFORE the customer purchases the tickets. Had I known things would have been this way, I would have opted for the train instead, which was only $6 CAD more. It's one thing if the station was opened and people could wait inside, have access to a restroom and what not, but no, everything was closed. You cannot expect 18 people to wait outside in the middle of Winter for over an hour...That's basically a health hazard. Please think twice before booking with greyhound. The reasons to take the bus are getting to be as sparse as the reasons to buy a CD: Who needs it but the die-hards? Let's put it this way: a round trip to Kitchener for an adult is listed online at $29 or so. At the terminal I expected to pay a bit more. It was $72. More than double the listed rate. Are you kidding me?? Round trip to Ottawa: $185 or so (within a few bucks). Round trip to New York City (much further away): $192. Seriously?? I had the worst experience here at this station. Due to construction, our bus to Toronto got in late and many of us missed our connecting bus to the airport. There was a jumble of people rushing for their bags to try and find their connecting buses if they were still around. A nearby attendant told me the airport bus left and to go to the ticket desk and so I did. The woman behind the ticket desk was hands down the rudest person to ever be in customer service. I calmly explained what happened, as I needed to get to the airport asap. Her response was to say she was at the airport bus, holding it because we HAD to be late (she treated the bus delay as our fault) and said, despite her being many lanes over, that she motioned for us to to the bus. While like 50 people were rushing for baggage not knowing our bus was still there. She told me "too bad" and told me, with my huge pile of luggage, to WALK across an unknown city where I had no cell service as I was from another country, and pay for more transportation on my own. This took over an hour and I ended up injuring my shoulder and my back. I barely made it in time to check in for my flight. I wish I had the name of that employee to call and complain but I don't think it would be that much better. Honestly, try and get a connecting bus at a different station or at a much different time, because any problem will be blamed on yourself by the staff. read more

The worst decision of my life was to take this bus from Toronto to NY. They have no schedule/timelines that they follow, uncomfortable seats, extremely dirty bus filled with trash everywhere, unprofessional drivers( they have no clue when they will leave the station) and, lets not even talk about the washroom. In short, do yourself a favor by not taking this bus! read more

Update on Greyhound Buses: 2019 SHAME ON GREYHOUND FOR ADVERTISING THAT THEY OFFER FREE WIFI ON THEIR BUSES BECAUSE THEY DON'T! Free WiFi? Where ? When? I've taken more than a dozen trips on Greyhound since my review six years ago and I'm sad to say I am downgrading their service to a one star. Why? Because in this day and age of free WiFi access, they never deliver on this promise. I have never taken a Greyhound bus all the 10hour+ trip to NYC from Toronto where the WIFI worked and I mean on EVERY SINGLE TRIP!! Sometimes even the outlets do not work! And it doesn't matter if passengers complain to the drivers. All of them will just give the same lame excuse that they have "reset" the WiFi or the outlet connections and just apologize that they do not work. Same spiel, same script. I can repeat it back to them. It's not the drivers fault. It's Greyhound for being deceptive to their customers. That's why they're at the bottom of the heap in bus service in North America. Next time, drive, take Megabus it Trailways.. read more

This trip was HORRENDOUS! There was only 1 bus @ 3am & it wasn't worth the money. your company should be ashamed, charging that much for a horrible bus with uncomfortable seats & no wifi or bathroom (7hr trip). NEVER using your services again!!! read more
