We stopped into Griffin's Grill and Pub and had a great experience. The place had a really fun atmosphere with a bunch of people watching the World Cup. There are TVs everywhere, so it's a great spot if you're looking to catch a game. The service was outstanding from start to finish. My son and I both got the Rory O'Conner Burger. I wasn't sure about the peanut butter at first, but it was actually a really good burger. I'd definitely order it again. My wife had the nachos, and they were really good too. They were on special for only $7.50, which was an awesome deal. There's also a nice little patio if you'd rather eat outside. Overall, this place gets an easy 5 out of 5 from me. We were in town for a conference and this place was within walking distance of the venue. We visited during lunch service. It sits right downtown with other eateries and bars. The entrance has a menu on the outside for your review but I would recommend to just go inside and try it out. You will be close to others as the seating is close to one another[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The servers were all wonderful! They made you feel right at home and welcome. The drinks never went empty and the amount of times we were checked on was perfect. The food was amazing! We had their bourbon signature burger and their wings&drummies appetizers. All burgers come on a pretzel bun, which I don't normally like but this one was delicious. The burger was full of flavor with a slight sweetness from the sauce. I would definitely get it again! First time visitor today! We used the back entrance and so we asked if it's a seat yourself (yes). We were all quite happy with our food: Scottish eggs, pot roast sandwich, fish and chips, Rory O'Connor burger (except it had onions, which my kid won't eat, so he didn't), loaded baked potato. Super happy I stumbled upon this place while in town for work. Will definitely be back and can say I found my new spot. The service was great, Kane (sorry if spelled wrong) was super friendly and attentive- he really did a great job. I enjoyed my food a lot. Burger was perfect, Caesar salad was good (not sure if they make their own dressing or not but it was good). Was happy they had the blackberry ciderboys cider on draft (yummy). My mom and I came here before going to the casino for an evening event. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We originally sat in a booth but moved to a nearby table because the cushions were sliding around and the table was unstable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food, however... while edible, it was disappointing: Artichoke dip: came out sort of warm but stiff, had to use the spoon to stir it up in order to be able to dip into. Tortilla chips were ok but borderline stale. Coleslaw came with both entrees which was ok but not the greatest. With fish and chips, that makes sense, but shepherds pie? Not so much. Shepherds pie: traditionally, it doesn't have cheese, but I was ok trying it with a little cheese. But there was WAYYY TOO MUCH cheese on it, like almost a 1/4" layer of cheese. The meat and gravy was delicious but vegetables were somewhat lacking. Potatoes were good but hard to taste with all of the cheese. Overall, I got the impression that some of the pie was microwaved or reheated in some fashion. It was also a bit smaller portion than what I expected. Fish and chips: Only 3 pieces of fish - for a 1/2 lb I would assume there would be at least another 1-2 pieces. It was somewhat dry on the inside and the batter was sort of soggy with oil, which makes me think it was warmed up by refrying it vs cooking it fresh. Both entrees came out fairly quicker than expected, which was slightly concerning but it was only about 5pm before a typical dinner rush at 6:30-7. TL;DR - drinks and ambience were good, but the entrees were sort of disappointing and could have been done better. Probably one of the worst meals the wife and I had. Her salmon was tiny, mushy and stank like it was old. My wrap pitiful amount of chicken in it but a metric buttload of spinach. Overpriced garbage. I came here for a week day lunch & really because Griffin has crinkle cut fries (when a craving beckons...haha). It was my first time at Griffin and I thought the inside was a bit dark for a sunny Michigan summer day, so we sat on the outside patio. I didn't love the ketchup served - it was Crown/some brand I've never heard of, but note that I'm a Heinz enthusiast. *Rooster Salad (Romaine lettuce, Grilled chicken, Bacon, candied walnuts, red onion, Feta and cucumber. 11) - Note that they don't have balsamic vinaigrette here - only a raspberry vinaigrette. I went with the italian. It was a good sized salad with seemingly fresh ingredients. It seems like they deep-fry their bacon, but I'm not complaining! The food took a while to come out of the kitchen, so our lunch dragged out for over an hour which is not ideal for a week day. 2 stars because if I were to eat fare like this, I'd rather go to Clara's. Stop by after a baseball game and they took the entire team and families in on a last minute call. The service was great we had a huge group and they took good care of us. I had a burger and my wife ordered shrimp tacos and my kids had the steak. The steak was over cooked I asked for medium on all three steaks and they came out well done but I didn't complain they where busy. My wife tacos where alright the tortillas where stale, she just ate the shrimp. The place was more of a drinking place. Also there's street parking so I don't know how busy the town gets for parking. read more

The chips are light and crisp and fried when you order. They are somehow light as air but stay crispy (yes I ate the whole plate myself). I ordered the pulled pork nachos and it ruined me for all other nachos. They were that good. Hubby ordered the shillelaghs burger mid-rare. It's topped with Boursin cheese, jalapeños, bacon and onion straws, and it was grilled to perfection! The house chips come-with, or you can up-charge to one of 4 different kinds of fries. We weren't impressed by any means with this place, unfortunately. We came as a group of 8 yesterday and pretty much every meal we ordered was subpar or below. We ordered 6 apps for sharing for the table and they were probably the best thing we got while there and that's not saying much. For example, we ordered the pretzel balls. The cheese sauce that it comes with was cold. Like super cold but the pretzels were fried to perfection with a crunchy exterior and fluffy interior. We loved them and ordered another but this time the cheese sauce was still cold but the pretzels were oily and soggy- a complete opposite of the first batch. As far as meals, the only really decent thing was the Mac and cheese and the chicken bacon avocado wrap. This was our first time going to Battle Creek but I don't think we'd stop here again if we were in the area. read more

Burger was actually pretty good but that was about it, the fries had no seasoning... not even salt. It tasted like they fried the potato's in a bowl of dog water. Would I come here again?
