They're efficient, and since it's somewhat small, you get lots of personal attention. (and I've been at an institute with lots of people) you want it to be small. Trust me. They're also very open to feedback, and willing to help if you have a problem. Parking can be annoying, as they don't really have their own lot, but it's not terrible. You can usually get a spot. And the bathroom is in the basement. But those aren't the things to focus on when it comes to a Montessori institute where you're going to become a teacher.

An underfunded inner city Milwaukee Public Schools elementary and high school where almost all students qualify for federal funded lunches, if you want to feel like a little volunteering makes a difference this is a good choice. I admire the people who work here, it's a hard largely unappreciated job to be a teacher in general, but the staff and support workers here are really remarkable. I know I couldn't do it. The children are cute and clearly disadvantaged, it absolutely feels good to come in and help out. There are a variety of things you can do, you can read to children, you can help them with their inventory problem, you can do office support work, as examples. The building was a women's hospital in days gone by and the renovation has been sporadic, incomplete and I am pretty certain the building is haunted. I was so sad to box up 20 copies of Langston Hughes that had never been read, but maybe someday a beleaguered English teacher will wander back into that storage area and bring those precious books back out.
