The fries were so hot I had to wait a little for it to cool down. Same with the burger. But I didn't mind because I knew it was freshly cooked. For dessert I had one sugar free baklava. There are nice banquette seating here with wooden frame tables & blueish grey upholstered chairs. There are also booths to sit at. There's acoustic music playing over the speakers also of popular classic songs. The vibe there on my opinion is classy & chill. You don't have to dress up to come here that is true. Just one word. Wow. This place was amazing! We ordered delivery and with delivery, you always decrease expectations (especially when there's bread and fries that get soggy on the way). But this place was delicious regardless. We ordered the steak poutine and gourmet cheeseburger. The steak in the poutine was cooked so perfectly, it was flavourful. And the cheese wasn't the typical nasty gummy cheese, it was high quality cheese that melts beautifully on the fries. The cheeseburger was amazing, my favorite part was the thin piece of mozzarella (you can see it in the picture, first topping within the buns). The meat was so juicy. I was in the area and this was on my list so I had to check this place out, I recommend the Philly steak sandwich, but before you judge it was damn delicious it kinda reminds of a Wellington it's a deconstructed Philly steak sandwich, it had ribeye their special sauce mushroom mozzarella cheese. The service was quick and they're making everything from scratch, I want to try their burgers next time cuz those look pretty damn good as well, the bread was crispy and soft and the meat melts in your mouth, perfectly cooked ribeye and the sauce is to die for, it so addicting I could keep eating just the sauce. The ambiance it's nice not a fancy place which I like, more like McDonald's but food is a million times better and it's fresh, which I love no frozen meat here, if you like render meat and good sandwiches I recommend this place it's a must. This is my far one of the best places to get gourmet burgers! Their quality is always consistent and the service is amazing

I don't crave burgers often but decided to give this place a try. We shared a mushroom cheeseburger combo (drink and fries) and a philly cheesesteak sandwich. Both were amazing, packed with delicious flavor and totally sates any burger/sandwich craving. My personal favorite was the philly cheesesteak, as they take half a loaf of bread to carve out the middle and fill it to overflowing with beef, mushrooms, onions and cheese. So so good. My partner enjoyed the mushroom cheeseburger more, as it came with a lovely caramelized layer of mushrooms and cheese. We both found new favorites! Absolutely crazy burgers and sandwiches! Portions are massive and packed with delicious flavour! We got the Philly steak sandwich combo and spicy mushroom cheeseburger combo. The Philly steak sandwich was packed to the brim with meat, definitely not skimping out on anything. The flavours are mouthwateringly delicious and easily fills you up. The spicy mushroom cheeseburger was equally as luxuriously decadent. The mushroom was sooooo good with the meaty patty. I ate this with a knife and fork, because I sure as hell couldn't bite this. It oozes delicious buttery grease and I love every bit of it. The fries they use looks like the same as Costco (those McCain fries) and is deep fried to the same perfection. Back after a few years! I shared the classic cheeseburger and poutine with my brother. The cheeseburger ($11.99) has an 8oz beef patty, onion chips, and cheese (mozzarella and cheddar) topped with their special sauce. The cheeseburger was good but the patty was slightly dry. I still enjoyed the sauce, the cheesiness, and how their sauce complimented the cheeseburger without overpowering it. The bun was fluffy too. This was definitely a greasy and filling cheeseburger. The poutine ($11.49) had their "crispy coated fries" with gravy and curds of mozzarella cheese. For their fries, I am quite sure it's the same one sold at Costco - so the poutine was nothing too special but still tasted great. Because the cheeseburger is quite large (a whopping 8oz!) and the poutine was very filling, thus easily split between the both of us. A burger for one person may feel too much. I came here right before Toronto entered lockdown for the second time. I was welcomed by their friendly staff and he came up with suggestions based on my preferences. I ordered "Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich" and "Guacamole Cheeseburger". The ingredients were fresh; the meat was very tender and flavorful, with the right amount of spices; the bread was toasted at the perfect time and temperature. Came on the weekend for lunch and luckily it wasn't too busy because the store has very limited seating. You basically order up at the front and they bring it out for you. I didn't like how there was a tip option on the machine as it made me feel obligated to tip, when there wasn't much service involved - other than bringing out our food when it was ready (I tipped 15% anyways). They didn't provide us any water, or check up on how our food was so I regretted tipping them 15%... I had ordered the regular Philly cheesesteak sandwich but it happened twice now that they had given me the "modified" version, in which comes with chopped bell peppers. I'm not a huge fan of bell peppers so that's why I ordered the regular one that doesn't come with it. I don't understand why the lady had punched in the modified one when I didn't mention I wanted that one, and stated I just wanted the normal regular one. Since this happened twice, I feel like they automatically give you the modified sandwich as it is more expensive than the regular one. I should've paid attention when paying for it, had I known she charged me more than the regular sandwich. Despite all that, the sandwich itself is very large so come with a big appetite! Or share with another person if you're not too hungry. The breading is nice and crisp but it can get a bit chewy after a few bites. The meat itself is cooked tenderly but after eating half the sandwich, the grease got to me and I couldn't finish and had to take it home. Tonight was perhaps the fourth or fifth time I've visited Grill Gate. I like their Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Last time I came, after ordering I told the young lady at the window I'd wait in my car, which was parked right in front of the store window. Within short order she knocked on my car window and handed me the bag with my sandwich in it. This time, I did the same thing. Parked in the same spot, and told the young woman (a different one, not nearly as polite or forthcoming) I'd wait in my car. I settled in and started reading my book. After a while, I realized I still didn't have my order. I pulled out my ticket to check on what time I had ordered: it had been nearly half an hour! I went in and said to the woman I thought she had said 15 minutes. She turned around picked up my bag and said yes, it's ready. I asked why she hadn't brought it out to me; "we're busy" she replied. "Well, thank you," I said. "You're welcome," she replied. I left the bag, said "you keep it!" and left. After leaving the parking lot, I regretted having left it that way. I drove around the block and back to the store. They saw me pull up, and another woman brought my bag to the door. I told her I didn't want it. I went to the order window and asked for a refund, which I got. I won't be darkening their doorstep again. I drove to the next block, where there's a very nice Vietnamese restaurant, and got a terrific grilled chicken, spring roll and minced shrimp, on vermicelli. Healthier, and less expensive. I checked out some photos on Yelp and immediately, my mouth started watering from seeing all the amazing food! The burgers looked incredible, but I decided to go with their most popular item, the Philly cheesesteak. I'm trying to cut out carbs, so I asked if I could just have it without bread. They offered to put it in a lettuce wrap instead. Bonus points! When our food came out, I couldn't wait to dig in! It smelled even better than it looked! My two friends both ordered burgers. One had a mushroom cheeseburger and the other went with the eggplant cheeseburger. Both looked so good, I almost regretted my choice. Grill Gate was definitely not on my radar before I checked it out on a recent Saturday morning, but when I saw something called a Philly Steak Burrito on the menu, I knew I had to go. We showed up around noon and the place was pretty much empty. I knew walking in that I was ordering the aforementioned Philly Steak Burrito ("8oz Ribeye, Magic Mushroom, Crispy Onion, Parsley, Special Sauce, Mozzarella"), so I immediately did so and sat down to wait. The food was brought out to me about 10 minutes later, and the woman behind the counter even offered me a free bottle of water! I think that was a first. Anyway, it's a decent burrito. The flavors didn't really remind me of a classic Philly cheesesteak - the heavy emphasis on mushroom and the absence of Cheez Whiz resulted in a taste similar to that of Beef Stroganoff - and I do feel like the concoction could've used some fresh veggies or herbs to enhance the experience (i.e. it was a little one note and lacking in texture). The only gripe that I had in my case was the overabundance of this white sauce, the special sauce. This garlicky, mayoish, hint of alfredo ish sauce. For the first few bites, I was amazed but after a while, it just got too heavy and overpowering. The burrito is pretty much the same thing with the bread substituted with a tortilla. Personally, I would opt for the sandwich variant. Overall cool place to check out. Straight forward simple menu. My personal recommendation is to request going easy on the garlic sauce. I think about these burgers pretty often and even while writing this review I'm tempted to go back and grab another. After my first visit, my boyfriend and I swore we'd never go back to Burger's priest (the prices are on par and they're way better here). The owner chatted with us for a bit and we found out the food is middle eastern inspired - e.g. burger seasoning and yogurt garlic sauce. The sauce is amazing on the burgers and even better on the fries. The fries are deliciously crispy and if you don't have enough of the sauce then you can ask for more which they'll happily give you in a container. We got so much we ended up taking the container home to put on homemade sandwiches mmmmm. We've also had the steak sandwich which is great too. The owner is very friendly and took care of us our first time. However, we encountered some mishaps our second visit but that didn't stop us from enjoying the food! We had a 15% discount card from our first visit and the lady at the register took the card with a strange look, didn't say anything to us and went to the back to ask about the card, then came back and gave us a discount that didn't exactly add up to 15%. Honestly, it did seem like she was confused about using the register so I don't think there was any ill intention. She had originally overcharged us by accident and we had to correct her and she was very apologetic. Maybe just keep in mind to double check your bills in case the total doesn't add up. Overall: Unimpressed. Because I ordered on SkiptheDishes, and on New Years Day, I'm going to be generous with 3 stars, but I won't be back. BEST: Philly Steak sandwich was solid, but boring. Overall 1 Used to come here many times before the pandemic, at which I would've gave this place a higher rating. However at my most recent visit I was met with absolutely terrible service. Waited about more than an hour for two burgers and fries, by the time I got my food I was too upset by the wait to want to even take a bite of the burgers that I once loved. I would say more "Tehran" than philly as i over heard the owners mentioning that they are from Iran and i could taste the Persian influence on this take of the traditional philly cheesesteak. However I should have got it with the fries as I had scarfed thru the sandwich really really fast. Was leaving the place a bit hungry. As meaty as it is- it did not fill me up. As I was leaving and went to counter to grab some napkins. The owner remarked that he has an extra cheeseburger and if any one would like it- I instantly volunteered for this task. How in a second I went from craving more food to having more food than I need is the magic of luck and fortune. The burger was marvelous. I could feel the butter from the amazing bun. I could tell the beef patties were made in house because once again that Persian kebab flavor changed the taste of the meat completely compared to generic burgers. I will go back there to try the spicy cheeseburger. Good stuff- and the sauce on the fries looked amazing. I need to try those too. read more

Trying to support local businesses instead of always going to the big shops. I'm glad I tried the mushroom cheese burger and steak poutine at Grill Gate. It was a sizable portion for a good price. The most impressive part of our burgers was that even though we had them delivered, maybe 15-20 minutes after they got here the bun held its shape and was still dry, the meat was juicy, and it wasn't a big oily mess. The taste was definitely great too -- obviously not as great as some of the top notch burger places in town, but delicious comfort food nonetheless. read more

Sheppard Ave location is in a tiny plaza with a laundromat and other small shops. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was the smell. Not a delicious aroma of food, but rather an odor of grime. We quickly ordered one cheesesteak, to go, and I went to the washroom downstairs. It was so gross. The smell was even stronger once the door was opened and the basement was dark. I got to the washroom where the paint was old and covered in dirt, the floors were filthy and the sink had actually hairs on it. There were footprints on the walls! I went back upstairs and wanted to order a side of onion rings, but the Employees were chatting amongst themselves. The only attention I finally got was when one girl looked up from her phone and realized my cheesesteak was ready. She bagged it up and handed it to me without even looking at me. Overall the sandwich was fine, but not remarkable. The service and atmosphere was so bad, I wouldn't go back even if was my favorite meal. read more
