I also got their Yukon fries which I absolutely loved neither super thin or thick just the perfect cut. I do recommend getting the Z sauce to add on the burger or just eat with the fries, really yum. I do want to try more of their burgers the next time I visit. You can either build a burger or go with their specialty burgers. Do checkout their menu. This is a hidden gem in the Weston Lawrence area. Owner operated and 1 of 2 locations (other in Stoufville). Food (4.5/5) - burgers are all homemade and 100% steak burgers so bit leaner than many places. There are different premade choices but I went with build your own. Patties were good and the toppings are extra but freshly made (eg. Fried onions and mushrooms cooked once you order). Patties are lightly seasoned so adding a sauce is a good idea. Siracha was a good fit for mine... along with an over easy egg. Overall it was a very solid burger. Service (4.5/5) - service was friendly and does take a little longer to get your order because it's ready made. Owner is friendly and you can tell he takes pride in the burgers. Atmosphere (4/5) - it's a fairly small place with a few tables spread out. The neighborhood isn't the greatest but the place closes at 8pm. Parking is not easy. Overall (4.25/5) - I will repeat and would recommend trying it out. Update - went back to try some of the designed burgers and had the Royal Z... it was very good... that MG sauce is perfect and the meat was fresh as before... double patties very filling. An unexpected find in an area I don't visit often. We came specifically to try out the burgers and was thoroughly satisfied by our meal. I had the mushroom burger while my partner had the classic, splitting an order of onion rings. Each burger is made fresh to order, so it took about 30minutes on a Friday evening before a long weekend. It was well worth the wait as we returned after a 25min walk to them packing up our freshly fried onion rings. We dug in right away! The patties are substantial and perfectly grilled. The Food was delicious! The service staff was excellent service. Answered and gave reccomendation on which item is good to try. The item that left me wanting to come back is from their dessert menu oreo stuffed churro. That item I have never seen or ate before and it was absolutely delicious. I am a regular at Zeals for a few months, their service and food are nothing short of amazing. The workers are super friendly and accommodating, I cannot recall a negative experience. My go to is the mini oz with onion rings and mg sauce. The onion rings are the best I have had by far and pair extremely well with the mg sauce. I also request the smaller rings as I prefer them and whenever I order they make sure to accommodate that without me asking. The Mini Oz is great aswell, packed with flavour and good till the last bite, everytime! Their beef is fresh, you can taste the quality difference between them and other burger joints that don't use AAA grade beef. My only complaint is sometimes the music they play doesn't fit the mood and disturbs the ambience, a small nit-pick that is easy to ignore. Overall Zeal Burgers is a solid 10/10, if you are in the area i highly reccomend giving it a try. read more

I stumbled upon this place when I was looking for a quick bite going eastbound on the 401 heading back to the city. I thought to myself, "Whoa, a burger establishment with a full 5 stars?! I gotta try it out." I went on Boxing Day so it was actually very quiet - we were the only customers there. The burgers were made to order and took ~10mins to prepare. We got the Mushroom Melt, BYOC (Be Your Own Chef), and some of their famous Yukon Gold Fries. Overall, the burgers were good and the homemade fries were great. You can really taste the difference in fresh AAA steak patties and fries that are made from scratch in-house. My only feedback is that my mushroom melt burger could've used more sauce or flavour as I found it a bit bland. Otherwise, I'd give this place a solid 4.5 stars. read more

4.5 - I am surprised on the amount of good reviews and the fact that I have never heard about this place before until I tried it! I normally do not go to this area but the menu persuaded me haha. I ordered two burgers and Greek fries and I did not think that there would be such a wait for the food to be prepared. I think my brother and I waited for more than 20 minutes for it. We could see the kitchen from we were standing and saw the employee work on about 10 sandwiches at the same time which was impressive. The person proceeded to wrap all of them and that's when the orders started to roll out. I got the OZ burger and it was DELICIOUSSS!! I have plenty of burgers before but this one is memorable for sure. Lots of flavour and the sauces and toppings complemented well with each other. I pass by this place all the time driving to the go station. So many amazing comments and highly rated on Yelp and Google. I ordered the royal z mini, the classic z and a large sweet potato fries. Since it's made fresh, we had to wait about 15 minutes. It was definitely worth waiting for, the sweet potato fries were crispy, hot and fresh. Quality juicy patty with loads of fresh vegetables and a bun you can't beat. I'm not a huge fan of sauces but their Z sauce is really tasty. Can I get a WOO WOO for great burgers and great service? I've been here a few times now for both sit-in and takeout and Zeal treats you right from start to finish with smiles and warm greetings all around. Our first time here was especially great because of the owner. Knowing it was our first visit, he gave us a few recommendations. All the burgers come with cheese but you can easily modify ingredients. Boyfriend doesn't like cheese so the owner advised creating our own burger to imitate the original Z burger but without the cheese. He checked in after to see how much we enjoyed his recommendations (very much so :D) and even gave us dessert on the house to finish off the meal (yum brownie oreo cheesecake). To go more in depth on the food, just think AAA steak grounded daily into mouthwatering hamburger meat topped with Z sauce, a souped up version of the Big Mac sauce. If that's not good enough then imagine this meat chopped into pieces on poutine. This magical creation is the chef's poutine. Had the zeal burger with one patty. Also had the poutine. The burger was decent. Meat tasted fresh and toppings were good. No wilted or brown toppings. The toppings were lopsided with the fried onions all congregated on one side, but otherwise good. The poutine was kind of too soupy with a gravy pool. I'm sure some people like that but I like poutine with fries that still have some bite to it. The gravy wasn't particularly flavourful but serves it's purpose. The first adjective that comes to mind is "soft", followed by "unsalted". As per the sign outside, they only grind triple-A angus, and you can certainly taste the difference. I don't think much additional salt was added to the patty. And there was definitely no salt sprinkled on top of the handcut fries. So don't expect it to be laden with salt. I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn't really examine the menu at length. However, I don't think they offered combos. It was like ~$11 for a mini (1-patty) O.Z. burger with a small fries. The "mini" was big enough for me and I had to take the fries to-go! Owner was very friendly and the operation seemed like a family-owned and runned joint. This restaurant was a quick drive from the office so decided to try it out. When we came into the restaurant, there weren't too many people but it was very clean and organized. Since we were first timers, we asked the owners for their suggestions. They told us to try the Z burger so we gave it a shot and tried the poutine as well. The Z burger was super fresh and juicy! It was also on a toasted bun, had veggies, onion strings, and their sauce. It was delicious. I got a mini with one patty and it was enough but the regular with a double was filling for my coworker! We ordered the poutine since we got burgers but the owner had us try the chef's poutine and we don't regret eating it at all! Sooooo good! The crispy fries and gravy and cheese curds and patty! Having come here several more times since my original review, I think I should update what I said to be more specific about how excellent this place is. Make no mistake, this isn't a place trying to invent a crazy new concoction, it just takes the simple things and does them properly, and the product is outstanding. No other burger demonstrates that more than their flagship: the OZ (or the Z Burger). It all starts with the AAA grade steak that they grind on site everyday, and when you bite into the burger, it tastes exactly like a steak. The patty is then seared marvelously on the flat-top, making a golden-brown griddled crust that rivals any smashburger out there (yes, that includes places like Shake Shack). The burger is topped with the basic condiments (tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, pickles), but what makes this one stand out is the crispy fried onion strings and the amazing special Z sauce. I'm so disappointed that I did not find this place sooner especially since I live in the neighbourhood. My partner and I have eaten at Zeal's three times, and our first visit was only a few weeks back. Any burger you get from this place is great. Make sure you add the z sauce to make it even better. You can craft your own masterpiece or try one of the specialty burgers on the menu. For you cheese lovers, the smoked cheddar is very nice on your burger. Zeal's also makes a chicken sandwich which is also delicious. If you don't see it on the menu, maker sure to ask for it. It's a chicken breast, lightly battered and fried to lovely shade of gold. Add your own toppings to customize to your taste, just don't forget the z sauce. The fries are freshly cut and are great in a poutine! Do yourself a favour and get some z sauce on the side for the fries. If you're feeling REALLY hungry, get the chef special poutine. It's your regular poutine with fried onion strings and a single patty chopped up into bite size pieces with...wait for it...z sauce on top. The Z burger tastes like a big Mac. Two patties, two pieces of bun. Comparable to Burger Priests California burger but bigger and a bit different. This is a better value. Flat top fry with a nice little crust. Fries are good. Ketchup is ok. Only thing that would make this place better is different ketchup and malt vinegar. The patty was not over seasoned, which was great as I was able to taste the quality of their meat (AAA steak meat that's ground daily) - soft, yet crispy, juicy, yet not too oily. The chef wipes the sweat off his forehead, there's a mad scramble of the staff's hands quickly wrapping up the perfectly cooked burger and the customers look up ward to the sky realizing the finished order is not yet there's.... oh the wait for the much anticipated Zeal Burger... the burger place that I bookmarked on Yelp for over a year... the anticipation... the agony... Great food takes time to prepare and cook and for Zeal Burgers this was definitely the case. You will expect to wait for the food at this place (the aforementioned scenario was semi-fictitious but do expect to wait 10-15min) but the wait is totally worth it I ordered takeout and when I got back to my car, I immediately split each half of the regular zeal burger to my littles ones. I couldn't wait myself as I started biting into The Heat Burger I ordered. The bun was airy and fresh and slightly toasted. I can tell on my first bite that the beef patty was homemade fresh. The beef patty was cooked just right and I could feel the texture of the beef inside with no unnecessary fillers. The smoked cheese and jalapeño mayo complemented the burger perfectly. It had the perfect amount of heat. I noticed that the patty was barely salted but yet the sauces and other ingredients inside allowed me to enjoy the bold tastes but yet make out the high quality meat that they used to give it a good naturally beefy taste. The combination of the jalapeño mayo and guac gave it a tangy yet smooth melt in your mouth feeling and the pico de gallo created a contrast of texture. I couldn't help but blurt out with my mouth full, " OMG, this is so good!!!" And seconds later I hear my kids from the back seat muttering with their mouths full (just like daddy)," This burger is so yummy, so much better than McDonald's and those other places!" (I regrettably did not get to try their's so I couldn't tell you what the secret Z sauce taste like). We also shared a small poutine which was also excellent. The gravy was savoury but not too salty. Cheese curds were melted, slightly rubbery and stringy. The fries were made with Yukon gold potatoes from the PEI Thompson Farm. It's the sweeter variety of potato that I love in a poutine. I can tell you without a doubt that the hype is real at this place. There will be a repeat visit some time in the future if the stars align (the place is a bit of a trek for me and they do close at 7pm and also all day Sunday). I can't tell you that Zeal burger is the best burger in Toronto but it's the best burger I've had in a long time. Great fresh burgers seared on a flat-top, and excellent fresh-cut fries and poutines, served up by an owner who cares. Freshly-ground daily, a 4oz. scoop of AAA beef is dropped on the flat top then smashed flat and seared until it's nicely crusted, then served on a sesame seed bun. The beef is juicy and flavourful, but not dripping with grease, like some places. Mark the owner tells me that he purposely set out to make decadent angus burgers, trying to keep it healthy, without sacrificing flavour. Their poutine is huge, featuring thinner fresh cut potatoes, double-fried and topped with legit fresh white cheese curds and delicious beefy gravy. *Don't forget to check-in to take advantage of the 15% discount special. In a city where gourmet burger places are popping up every day, this is one of the good ones. Best burger in Toronto! A bit pricy but so worth it. Canadian AAA Grade beef, juicy and flavourful. Toppings and sauces are so good. It always hits the spot when I'm craving a good burger. Their regular fries, sweet potato fries and poutines are amazing too. Never had a bad experience there. Friendly customer service. Clean establishment. I've even ordered from Uber eats with them multiple times and the food is still good when it arrives. My favourite is the Royal Z burger (double of course ;) ). Give it a try.
