My battery died while in my garage. I called AAA and the towed my car to Grimes Auto Service. I was greeted by a tech and I explained that I needed new battery. Remember there was no appointment and I was told I would, i would have to wait about an hour. About 20 minutes late I was told the I was good to go. Took my car here for an oil change and they cracked my front bumper! They didn't want to fix it but did. Blamed me cause my car is lowered. Out of a car for 3 days because they didn't want to pay for a rental while i was inconvenienced for their incompetence. Will never go back here for anything or recommend anyone go here!! I brought my 2019 Chrysler 300s to Grimes on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 because my check engine light was on. A diagnostic was performed on my car, and I was told that their was an error code P0128 because of the thermostat. The thermostat was replaced as well as the gasket. I paid $239.58 thinking that the issue was resolved. By Thursday, my check engine light was back on and my car was now shaking indicating it was misfiring. I returned to Grimes on Friday morning. Another diagnostic was performed and this time I was told by the mechanic that it had misfired at a .3 today and .1 on Tuesday. I was never told that the engine had misfired on Tuesday until I brought it back on Friday. As a result, he replaced 6 spark plugs and the ignition coil. I was told that the spark plugs were burned and damaged. I paid a $510.76 and was told I just "needed a tune up". On Saturday morning, my check engine light was back on! I was livid at this point because it appeared that they were only treated the symptoms of a much bigger problem and never informed me of what the BIGGER problem was. So, when they opened on Monday, May 6th, 2024, I returned wanted answers! After about 3 hours, the owner, Mr. Grimes told me it was my catalytic converter. I asked him why was I never informed about this issue. He stated that when an engine misfires he trains his mechanics to only treat the first code and that he can't control what goes wrong on these cars. My issue is that they were aware of the major issue the entire time and instead of informing me about the major issue that took my money and put a band-aid on it by treating the symptoms! This is unacceptable. I was never told that my car misfired on Tuesday, April 30th until I returned with the check engine light on yet again. I was also never told that other codes appeared on the diagnostic, until I returned the third time with my engine light still on! So, after spending $750.34 my check engine light is still on! If I were told on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 that it was the catalytic converter, I could have parked my car and scheduled an appointment with the dealership to fix this issue. Instead, I continued to drive it thinking that the service they provided fixed the issued, when all they did was treat a symptom and allowed me to create more by continuing to drive it! read more

We're in Tifton, where our car broke down. Someone recommended them. We told the lady what was happening, and she was rude and insulting. "You're going to lose the car anyway". Then the manager came after us telling us that we were disrespectful, threatening physical harm to my friend, when we were merely trying to get help. Rude as heck. It was obvious we weren't going to get any kindness from strangers. PS We found someone that was able to diagnose the problem. It was a cooling system issue. And no, we didn't lose the car. To the negative reviewers... I have been using Grimes for 12 years, and three vehicles. They are honest, reliable, and fair. If you want Walmart cheap, or a dealer mechanic drone, look elsewhere. They are a skilled family business, they know about and care deeply for the safety of their customers, and will never do anything you don't need done. There is a reason they have been in business over 30 years and 2 generations... and I suspect years after your car has broken down because you went to a lesser auto mechanic. AVOID THIS ONE! Would be Zero stars if an option. I Do not(!) recommend these people to anyone whose not from the local Tifton, GA area. After an unfortunate breakdown on I-75, my daughter who was on her way to Valdosta, GA, had her vehicle towed by these people to their shop, and then she had a friend come get her to complete her trip. When I called to remind them not to do any repair until given "okay" they became rude, and Chris Grimes, the son, said that that's what they were supposed to do because they tow and have a repair shop. Fortunately he stopped working on the vehicle. When I asked if they work with AAA or USAA, Chris said "We don't work with them down here". I'm in the Atlanta area, so I asked to use my credit card over the phone to pay for the towing and diagnostic(really?) charges so I could make arrangements to have the vehicle towed elsewhere and avoid the inconvenience of making a special trip very much out of my way. It's 3 hours from Atlanta to Tifton. Chris's mother, Ms. Grimes, got on the phone and said because she didn't like my attitude that they would only accept cash. (Professional, right!?) Because of HER attitude we were forced into a ridiculously and unnecessarily inconvenient drive to pay them and move the vehicle elsewhere. I could rant on regarding the negative stereotypes that these people reinforce in the minds of others regarding small towns in the South, but I think the cards read themselves. read more

My son is a student in Tifton, and we have used them twice. everyone I have talked to was kind, considerate, and very helpful. iam a single mother of three, so money for car repair takes some help from family. they understood (both Times) and took several forms of payment to meet our needs. Having problems with both my vehicle and my camper, Mr.Grimes took care of our issues with a smile on his face, even though he was busy and short staffed. Came to our rescue. Chevy truck broke down on our way home to Florida from Illinois. Luckily made it to a hotel before it died. Called Grimes at 8am Monday morning and they came with a tow truck within 15 minutes. Alternator was replaced and we were back on the road by 10:30!!! Friendly and more than efficient. My daughter, 2 year old grandson, and dog left Florida ahead of Hurricane Irma and spent a week with relatives just south of Atlanta. On the trip home on 9.14.17 it looked like smooth sailing when we hit I-75 and saw that there was no more traffic than a normal day. For about an hour - then the A/C in the car decided to quit. And yes it is still hot in GA. We tracked down Grimes Auto Service in Tifton, GA. I called from the car, told owner Gary our sad story and he said "come on in". We invaded their office where the daughter-in-law of this family run business, Heather, helped entertain our grandson while Gary and crew quickly got to work on the Honda(even though all their bays were already full). Less than an hour later and a Freon fill-up, they had us back on the road again. The bill- $27. That's right $27, not $270. Seriously - hard to believe even the Freon was that cheap. What about the hour of labor? I fully expected someone to try to take advantage of our situation. These people will never see us again and yet they treated us with honesty, kindness and compassion. My only regret - we don't live close enough to give them all our business. Thank You and God Bless You! read more
