This was a fun tour with an unexpected scary element toward the end...even scared our guide! The downtown tour, which -bonus- started just walking distance from my hotel! Takes you on an informative ride through downtown with step off points, and a trip to the cemetary. They provide ghost detector devices that do go off and show activity in different areas. They warn you at the beginning that you probably won't see a ghost, but they remind you to check your photos, as sometimes you will see them in your photos. It's possible someone on our tour got something as the guide was telling the guest to submit her photo. Now for the scary part! As we were riding along a narrow road with sharp turns, listening to our guide tell us of a newly wed couple that haunts the area after a horrific crash on this very road! Suddenly the van scraped roadside bushes and swerved slightly, making us all gasp!!! Pretty sure the guide who was facing backward had to change his shorts! Grimm Ghost Stories does a good job of taking you around the city. It's a short tour of getting in and out of their van. You will then walk to the "Grimm" site, and the host will then tell you about the tragedy that took place at that very spot. I'm not much of a ghost hunter, but I'm down for just about anything when invited. I found myself and a friend boarding a bus downtown excited to check out some haunted locations around Salt Lake City. Our tour guide, Willow, was wonderful. She shared stories and pictures from previous guests along the route and gave us historical tidbits along with the spooky stuff. While we didn't encounter any apparitions, we did learn some interesting historical facts. I actually enjoyed that more than the attempts at scary lore. There were three devices to alert tourists when energy was present-it would have been nice if everyone could hold one so we didn't have to pass them around amongst all the people on the bus. Speaking of the bus, I don't think it had any air conditioning. It was brutally hot when we went for our tour, and AC would have made it more pleasant. They handed out cold water and handheld fans, but MAN was it hot. It was actually cooler when we got off the bus at each stop than it was inside. All in all, I think this could be a fun tour if you're mildly interested in learning about some dark history in the Salt Lake City area. If you're an avid ghost hunter and really want to see the good stuff, consider one of the other tours that gives you more opportunity to get up close and personal and go inside some of the buildings. Had to plan an activity for a work team meetup for October, why not a ghost tour instead of going to Top Golf? What to expect from a ghost tour: this is a city tour on a bus. If you're looking to be frightened & scream your lungs out, go to a haunted house instead. Recommend a ghost tour if you like learning about new places you visit. If local, perhaps it's places you may have already seen but don't know yet about their haunted side. Your tour guide in 1.5 hr will explain the history of the sites you visit/sightsee and share stories of paranormal activity that occurred. (ie: when building was built and originally used for, who died there and how, then stories about others claiming to see/feel/hear/smell that person's ghost). You also get handed a remote to detect paranormal activity. We went at 7pm on 10/28, so it's already dark when the tour began which helps to elevate the ghostly-ness of the tour. I can't remember the name of this tour by Grimm Ghost Tours but some of the places we stopped at was West HS, Peery Hotel, and Belvedere. The ghost bus itself is what a ghost bus should be: old, creeky & bumpy every time it was in motion. Tour started and ended on time. I didn't see any ghosts tonight but also don't doubt some of the ghost stories that happened at the places we visited. Would recommend and go back. read more

I've been on this tour a few times, some were better than others. You're on a bus and our guide was the Preacher. Heard different stories each time and it was interesting and spooky although you probably iwon't see a ghost, they'll show you pictures of ones captured on film. Having lived in the downtown area for years, you certainly feel some building are haunted as you walk past, so it's nice to hear the stories. Sometimes we visited Ted Bundy's haunt... not sure if you're allowed to do this anymore. The cemetery at night is especially creepy. This was my first ghost tour and it's a cute way to get into the halloween spirit. Salt Lake City is a beautiful city to drive thru and we had an upbeat tour guide giving history along the way. I went on the Ted bundy tour but i was a little taken back when we went to the direct spot where he attacked someone. I wish I knew I would be sitting in the exact spot he attacked someone I wasn't expecting that and that's not something I want to remember. read more

This was a good Groupon deal, but I would have to agree with the word "underwhelming". Maybe 3.5 star rating. We arrived on time, but waited awhile to get going even though the bus was practically full already. We really liked being able to shuttle and see the city (especially some beautiful architecture), but you don't get to go inside anywhere you stop. It's not explicitly stated how long you get to stay at each location, but we found out real quick that you don't get very long. That was fine since it was pretty darn cold outside, but people who want to explore probably won't get more than 5mins after "story time" ends at that location. There were people snapping photos as the guide talked, but it seemed rude and distracting. She didn't seem to mind though. They also offer paranormal investigations for 5 hours each session if you want to explore more thoroughly. It's pretty cool that you're able to take photos (to see if you capture anything paranormal on film -- they even instruct you on how to do it and how to read the EMF), but I avoided it since it felt cheesy, disrespectful and way too touristy alongside a bunch of other people flashing their cameras right outside a bus. Our guide suggested we download an app called Ghost Radar Classic if we didn't want to hold the EMF readers, so I was a little distracted with the app -- downloading it and watching the random words populate on my phone screen. There were some jaw-dropping facts and stories, but I was not blown away by the entire experience. We were shown photos from previous tours, and I'm not sure if anyone captured anything during our tour. They suggest waiting a couple days then looking at photos again, but I didn't get anything (not their fault, but just sayin'). It was a bit ironic to find out that one of the locations is now a Holiday Inn hotel. It was a little strange and icky to watch people walk all over graves as they tried to capture something on film. This was my first ghost tour, but it won't be my last. I'll probably shop around though. read more

I really enjoyed Old Town. After my group and I were talking and although some didn't believe in spirits they did enjoy the history that was shared. Our tour guide was Beloved and she added to the experience perfectly. The stories were very informative. The A/C was broken and we were informed ahead of time and offered to reschedule. We decided to go despite the heat and the bus was stocked with water, cold wet towels, and fans. I'm excited to go on more tours in the future. I found a deal on groupon that essentially made the tour two for the price of one. I would definitely say that it was worth it, I wouldn't pay full price though. The tour was quite fun. The white lady was our guide and she was very nice and funny. We drove around a lot of salt lake and heard a lot of cool ghost stories, and some very interesting history. This is definitely more of a historical ghost tour, not a scary tour. We went up to Ted Bundy's old house and that was creepy for sure. I think the tour would be better if it was 30 minutes longer, and you were able to get out at at least one more sight. We were told to take pictures, to catch a ghost, but we never stopped at any of the haunted locations so that was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a really fun activity in SLC, I would recommend it for sure. Also, the bus site is right outside temple square so parking can be a little difficult to find, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. read more

Cons first: We felt underwhelmed. But to be fair, my husband and I have done a fair share of ghost tours and in some of the most haunted places in the US (looking at you Savannah and New Orleans). So this tour pales in comparison because the stories themselves weren't as scary and I think that has to do mostly with the delivery. Our guide was Abby Normal and she was very nice and very practical which meant the stories were delivered quickly, sometimes devoid of "spooky" emotion and told very casually. Pros: HOWEVER, that being said, what we did like was that the tour takes you around the city center so you're getting to see a lot while you're on the shuttle. You get some history about the buildings and it ends up being a lot more informative then you'd think! Plus, the staff was very friendly and even provided a discount code when we inquired about one. The reason to visit: On our Friday night 7PM city tour, they took us up to the cemetery. It provides killer views of the city below and it's chilling! Even more perk, the shuttle drives by the Capitol at night so you get some photo-opps and it's gorgeous. The neighborhoods leading up to the cemetery are creepy in their own right so that was the best part of the tour! read more

We had so much fun on the outer reaches tour last night. The Preacher of Truth is definitely great at his job. He was hilarious and charismatic and was very knowledgeable about the history of the places we visited. This is the perfect date night. As we drove past the jam-packed Utes stadium, I couldn't help but think I have the coolest husband ever for wanting to do a ghost tour instead of see a football game. Tips: we parked in the city creek parking garage, which was free since it was less than 2 hours. Street parking downtown is also free after 8 PM, but there won't be any good spots near temple square. Also, bring a water bottle! I was dying of thirst by the end of the tour. One last tip, is to bring some cash for a tip! I did not even consider this beforehand. Of course I never carry cash and now I feel bad for not tipping the Preacher of Truth. He was awesome. All in all, we had a fun night. Next time, we want to try an investigation! read more

I enjoyed this tour. It was slightly different from ghost tours I've done before mainly because it was on a bus and not walking. The tour guide was good and friendly and made people welcomed. Our route took us through a bunch of places in downtown and to a cemetery where we got some history and creepy stories. I got this deal through Amazon and it ended up being $15 for both my wife and I. It was a great deal. Would I wanted to pay like $20 each? I'm not sure. The tour was okay. The information that was relayed was mild. We stood outside buildings instead of going inside, and looking at a building is a bit of a waste of time. The night we went there was so much traffic, that the bus left late, was grid-locked in traffic for most of the tour, and yet returned on time for the next tour - essentially cutting us short on time. In one instance of learning about a haunted hotel, the bus driver was instructed to just drive by since we were running out of time. The was no information that could be substantiated, it was "I heard," or "it's been said." We didn't really hear any of the haunted Christmas stories as promised in the tour description. We drove by buildings, stood in the driveway, then drove to the next. not worth the money. We visited a small chocolate factory - that had nothing to do with Christmas. read more

I have done all the tours (other than the Christmas one, but I'll get there) and I love the company. They offer investigations, if that is what your looking for, which was so cool, and well planned, and well organized. Most though, go on tours, which is the telling of ghost stories, so don't expect to be "investigating" those locations, just enjoying your storyteller and the old locations. If you are a little daring and looking for a fun little date, their tours around Salt Lake are so fun, though Ted Bundy's place (up emigration canyon) is a little more than I was up for (as I didn't have a hand to hold at the time). The investigation is a wonderful, slightly more intense, experience, so be sure to really think that one through before booking, but definitely think about it! read more

I did this tour a while back actually but I still remember everything about it. How I remember was because I think the price offered on groupon as a discount offer was just the right price/actually overpriced. SLC is perhaps too new that none of the stories scare me nor my friends. I know our guide try to be scary but the stories themselves are just not scary at all. Even with the questionable EVP devices that the guide knew where they were gonna set off. He explained why but I don't buy it. I'm from a country where it's famous for black magic and demon stories at other southeast asian countries, so perhaps I'm just too exposed to it that this just feels so weak. So what if there's a dancing bride at the courthouse? My parents' house are more haunted than this tour (at least I ran screaming once and had to sleep with the lights on plenty of times). Also our guide stunk. He should've at least chewed gum if he smokes. He's very friendly tho so add another star for that. read more

I was in SLC to visit my sister, and we were excited to go on the tour. I'd gone on a similar tour in San Diego. This one is better although their concepts are the same. It's really the host that makes it or breaks it, and the Preacher of Truth was awesome. His delivery is natural, and he's good at throwing relevant jokes in here and there. He also knew the stories and history very well. I liked that guests were allowed to use the "EMF" detectors through the whole tour. We did the Old Town tour, but I'd definitely do the Outer Reaches tour if I went again. read more

I bought a groupon for my family and me and we took the Outer Reaches Tour. We all enjoyed it and we plan on trying out the other tours in the future. I would recommend using a groupon if you can because I don't think it's worth the price they normally charge of $25 per adult ticket. The groupon made it about half price. We had the Preacher of Truth as our guide and he did very well. He was good at telling the stories, interacted well with everyone, and he was also funny. This is not a tour that will terrify you but it was still a little spooky and a fun night out. Visiting the remains of Ted Bundy's house was the creepiest part. Overall I do recommend this specific tour and guide but I bet the rest of the tours and guides are good as well. read more

Extremely disappointed!!! We did the Old Town tour. Found this on Groupon and bought it for 6 people. We all went and we're all disappointed. It was more informational than paranormal. Our bus was full and everyone was laughing and joking and couldn't hear a damn thing the tour guide was saying. And instead of getting out and "investigating" the places, you sit in the bus and they explain the stories, and then tell you to go to their website to book the "investigating" tours. The two tour guides we had, Lola Bottomy and Preacher, we're very knowledgable and fun. The Old Towne tour is nice and simple and not to scary. The Outer Reaches tour is more scary as it includes a visit to the former site of Ted Bundys house. Overall great non-touristy tour. read more

Rocky start, but ended up being fun. The tour bus is extremely punctual. If you're not there by 9:05 they WILL leave without you. My party dropped me off at 8:53, and tried to find a parking space. Even though half of our group was checked in, they were threatening to leave the other half of our group if they were not there by 9:05. Luckily, they made it right at 9:05. Maybe it is just me, but if you expect people to be that punctual you should find a parking lot to pick people up in so they don't have to hunt for a parking place downtown, and then walk to the bus. After leaving at 9:05 we found half of the bus about a block away, and we had to pick them up. The start of the evening didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. If they would have left the rest of my party I would have been really upset! We had "The Preacher of Truth" tour guide. He was fun, and had some interesting stories. However, he was difficult to understand at times. Before you knew it, our night was over. I ended up having fun, and would recommend going if you're able to find some discount passes. read more

The tour guide told us ghost stories mingled with historical events that have taken place along the route we were taken. This isn't one of those tours where they drive you past mysterious places and let you "peek" at them; we actually got out of the bus and walked around at a couple of the locations so we could see if we could feel the unseen presence of those that linger there. Maybe I have watched too many movies but I got that weired out feeling at 2 locations. During our ride we where offered tickets to a actual ghost hunt that they were hosting at the Salt Lake City and County Building that night from 10 pm to midnight of which we took advantage of, what else was I going to do that evening. At one point along the tour 3 of us could hear music but nobody else could. They also provided us with a device that could pick up on energy from ghost. When one was near the device would light up and a needle move. You could ask the ghost questions by saying things like are you a boy or a girl. Once for a boy or twice for a girl. The needle would move all the way to the far end once or twice depending on the answer. Then they would have you rephrase the question and re-ask the ghost. The place is haunted by kids, a mayor, and a judge. That night we made contact with the Judge. They also brought some kids toys. One of the balls started moving around in circles for a bit on the floor. They also took us down in the tunnels that go under the city street. One of the groups heard a dog barking in the tunnel. According to our guide the place is also known to be haunted by a dog. After we were finished with the tour we were talking to the security guard. He told us of a few ghost he has heard on a regular basis and things he has seen. It is definitely worth going you will not be disappointed. read more

I've done other ghost tours in the past that were far more energetic and fun. We got on a bus for the tour and got on and off at 4 places. The guide told stories as we drove, unfortunately she wasn't much of a story teller. The stories, which I'm sure could've been rather hair raising, seemed boring and lifeless. She rushed through many stories as we quickly drove past a spot that was supposedly haunted. The stories were so rushed that they lacked any enthusiasm. The worst part was the guide's grammar! I tried to focus on the stories, but I found myself cringing and wanting to correct grammar. It made it very difficult to truly enjoy the already lack luster stories. read more

My husband bought a deal for this tour, so the price was great, I think about $25 for two. The tour met at 7pm near Temple Square, an easy walking distance from our hotel. We took the Old Town tour. This is a pretty typical ghost tour of mostly silly, mildly scary stories that have some historical twist about the city. This is NOT a ghost hunting tour, which I was glad about. (They do offer those as well if you're into that). This is a bus tour and it takes you around downtown and up into the SL cemetary that has beautiful views of the city below. You get out at a few locations to hear the stories about that place. One stop took us into a supposedly haunted chocolate shop and we had time to purchase some treats if we wanted. I thought it was a fun tour and if we lived nearby may have considered going on the Outer Reaches version. Not sure the full price of $25 is worth it, but if you can get a deal it makes for an interesting evening. read more

You get your normal cheesy scary stories, that have some historical basis. The creepy tour guide and the haunted locations. What a great way to spend a Friday night! Perfect weather (obviously they can't control that but plan accordingly). Easy parking downtown (follow their advice and park in front of the jewelry store) easy walk to the well-marked bus. The bus is very cute btw, decorated with ghosts and the like. Our guide was Preacher of Truth- love him! Very personable and a wonderful guide to the tour. I don't want to give every surprise away but we went to 5 stops on the Outer Reaches tour (which was about 1 hour 45 min) and even if you don't have a spectral sighting yourself, plan your visit in a nice time of year and it is a very entertaining, scenic tour of old Salt Lake City at the very least (though the last stop is actually pretty horrifying). I would definitely go again, I would bring my family and I am considering the more extensive ghost hunting outings- can't say enough good things! read more
