    Turkey veggie sandwich
    Matthew R.

The food is very fresh and well prepared. Portions aren't huge, but a good price. Bread appears to be freshly baked onsite. Staff is very friendly and pleasant. I had the turkey veggie which was very good. Desserts are good.

Well made simple sandwiches, paired with fantastic desert bars. Homemade, quality sandwich bread and sub bread around a set of standard sandwich fillings. Think Subway, but much fresher bread and ingredients. For example, the egg salad sandwich was wonderfully light. You can choose from Magic Sauce or Secret Sauce, both subtly good. But if you go, you have to pair your sandwich with a bar. The carmel bars are a must. When you reach for a desert bar after Christmas dinner, what you hope for is a bar as good as the Grinder Deli's caramel bar. You're usually disappointed by the bar after Christmas, but the bar at Grinders will leave you smiling all afternoon.

One of the few places in Austin that actually lives up to the hype. This place is great! The sandwiches are fresh and taste incredible. The secret sauce is very good. I always get the grinder sub and double the meat. The only reason this deli does not get five stars is no debit, all cash or check. Lame. Other than that and the long wait which I don't mind, awesome place to get lunch!

My favorite place in Austin, MN. Great sandwiches, homemade bread, and bars. I highly recommend. :)

Stopped in with a couple friends for lunch. We all got the grinder and were not disappointed. Fresh, soft homemade bread was great.

Sue is so sweet. It was my first time here and loved it. Be sure to get the "secret sauce". Oh and finish it off with a Carmel Bar.

I just kinda maybe wish they'd ask if they should first. the grilled cheese (paninied) is not what I intended but it is likely a better option than CFS plus eggs and grits... sandwich comes with sliced tomato and minced onion cooked in - the 10,000-degree press does wonders for the acidic sugar in the tomato; think sun-dried fruits that were actually dried in the actual sun. stuffed wavy-on-top-smooth-on-the-bottom toast with herb sprinkle presents well but I'm not sure what to do with the fork. shop is comfortable with seating available at a half dozen kitchen tables, a couple dinettes and wrought irony patio sets or a rumpus room couch. the hard part of casual is not trying to hard to look like you're not trying so hard. friendly and efficient CHoM pretty much nails it :-)

My kids liked their meals, especially with the included dessert of homemade gelato. My wife and I had the Smokehouse Smorgasbord which offered a good sampling of all the meats and sides. We liked all the meat options, full of flavor and tender. Portions were plentiful and we both ate our fill. I have to make a special note on the chicken and turkey, most times, those choices make the bottom of my list but their poultry was so juicy and tender! There was also a lot of variety when it came to sauces - sweet, heat, mustard based, vinegar based, it was all represented. Prices were fair and service was "small town" chill and friendly. Two saucy thumbs way up!

It was getting busier by the time we left at noon; they also handled a lot of take-out orders. I'm glad we were there on a rainy Friday in the off-season--I can only imagine how packed this place would be in the summer! Service was great the whole time. A single-sided big menu has most of the food offerings, but there is a separate Spam menu that can be brought out on request. My husband had a beer while I was happy they had cans of local Loon Juice cider available. For our appetizer, we ordered a side item: fried okra. I don't think we've found okra anywhere else in the state! It was perfectly cooked with a cornmeal coating, piping hot and delicious. I had the Smokin' BBQ Platter. I had brisket for my meat option, with coleslaw and cornbread on the side. Perfectly cooked brisket, not dry at all. I'm an avid home baker and something of a cornbread snob, and this was excellent stuff--a perfect little loaf, sweet and perfect with butter melted within it. My husband had the Combination Platter with pulled pork and ribs. Now, he is a rib snob, having BBQed many over the years, and he declared these to be perfect (a rare thing to find in a restaurant). Not a shred of meat remained on the bone. Pulled pork was great, too, and he agreed that the cornbread was something special. He liked having pit potatoes, too, something that isn't common. Three kinds of BBQ sauce sat on our table in full, non-sticky squeezable containers. I tried the bourbon and loved it. My husband also tried the inferno; he can handle a lot of heat and said it wasn't really hot to his perception, but the flavor was good. In all, a fantastic experience here. I'd definitely come here again when passing through.
