Ye Olde Butchershoppe is a great butcher shop in town! I wanted to pickup some steaks but left with a lot more. First off, the staff were very friendly and not pushy at all. The spacious store has the full spectrum of meat products for anyone whether looking to grill for themselves or a large party: a great case of cuts, frozen larger meat sections (e.g. whole ribeyes), a smoked section, and various snacks & entrees. Plus, the prices were very reasonable. I ended up getting some Bacon-wrapped Sirloins, Smoked Hard-boiled Eggs (their specialty--tasted like an aged cheese!), and Meatloaf, which were all so good. An open policy on gift cards, what they can and can't buy with their gift card, if they deliver or ship their products because the last thing anyone wants to hear is all the things you can't do when I'm stuck with a gift card from your business.. We want to hear what you can do for us if we become a customer and spend our money on what you offer.. All I've heard is over the phone and it was I dont know if use your card gift card can be used for this or that, if shipping is covered with a gift card or delivery and if not to let us know prior to us waisting our time on a business that treats possible future customers like they are already a customer.. A gift card can be a hindrance when the store issuing it tells a potential customer that the cash paid for that gift card is worth more and that I lose my right to use it like cash at your establishment or I would rather get my money back and go elsewhere.. read more

I found exactly what I was looking for. they even cut my rib roast into steaks for me and only charged $1 per pound to do it. Beef marrow, only place I found that carried them. Love this place. read more

The best butcher shop I've ever been to. It is difficult nowadays to find old country, by which I mean old European country, food such as headcheese that is made from scratch and fresh. We love their fresh headcheese and smoked eggs and salmon. I now live in Michigan and cannot find a store as good and as reasonably priced as Ye olde butcher shop. They also do custom meat processing. For example, whenever we do hot pot at home, we would order some beef chuck to be sliced thin. This is much fresher than the frozen sliced meat in the freezer section at the local Chinese grocery store and a little cheaper. Plus the processing part is all free. Only downside is they closes at 6 PM which is hard mayo folks to get there before closing time. read more

Ye Olde appears to be more like Ye Kinda New. Located in a small, newer strip mall. They have a decent selection of beef sticks, jerky and sausage. I like the Texas beef sticks. This place shouldn't be called a butcher shop, more like a slicing shop. They get in small prefabricated cuts and they only cut steaks off. Not a bone in sight, can't even buy bones for stock making. They don't carry any cuts beyond your standard sirloins, ribeyes, and roasts. They only carry choice, so you're getting the same grade of meat that you would get from Hy-vee, though it is a different type of beef and is slightly better tasting than the Hy-Vee beef, but it's still just comparing something that's bad to something worse. In the end, it's still just industrial, feed-lot beef. They have a wonderfully limited selection of frozen meat if that's what your into. But I don't see how a place can seriously call itself a butcher shop when they sell Hormel products. I asked if I could buy a rack of spare ribs that wasn't frozen and I was told even though they have it, they wouldn't sell it to me. That is just bad customer service. Worst part about that was the guy who decided it was too much work to get a rack of ribs, was standing 5 feet away from me and relaying this information to someone else. That he lacked enough respect for the customer to even turn around and tell me himself says a lot about this place. The do sell Sprecher Root Beer by the bottle, easily the best part about shopping here. read more

Fantastic meat selection with great prices. The burgundy pepper marinated sirloins are a favorite of mine.

Try the Burgundy Steaks. I bought a couple because the butcher recommended it. The taste is wonderful and the meat is incredibly tender. I loaded up on several types of brats and the ones I tried were very good. I live in Maple Grove so it isn't a place I can shop at often but when I find myself near Rochester I will be back. I can't wait to try the Al Capone pork. A shop in Waukesha has Al Capone roasts that are off the charts too. read more

There are a lot of things to like about this place: 1) The guys behind the counter were friendly; 2) It had a nice old school butcher shop feel to it without conciously trying to play it up; 3) the sausages looked great, and I wish I would have been in the mood for sausages. The problem is this: I went in looking for two things, and they didn't have either. I wanted short ribs and flank steak. They didn't have short ribs and the flank steak was frozen. Neither of these products are off the wall crazy. It's a butcher shop. The grocery store a few blocks away had both of these. I'm going to still go to the butcher shop because I really want a place like that in my neighborhood. I guess I'll just have to limit the expectations a bit. But the smoked string cheese will keep me stopping in either way. read more
