Cute spot with actual American breakfast. They have outdoor and indoor tables. The waitress there was very nice and understood a decent amount of English. They serve mimosas, but you can also get a bottle of champagne. Serves breakfast all day. Great vibes!! as the name states would attract Americans visiting Rio.

There was a bit of a wait so I was expecting good food. And good food is what O got. The chicken was well seasoned and the waffles were the perfect sweetness. The eggs were super fluffy and buttery. It was totally worth the 20 minute wait.

It's a cute American style spot hence the gringo name. The waffles were fresh and a lot of the items are made to order which is really nice. The fruits are very fresh along with the waffles which were really good! Simple and cute.

Beautiful Brazil! Cute cozy quaint little cafe on a cobblestone street! Bursting with flavor and vibrant colors! Can't wait to taste the food

Went to Gringo Cafe to eat some American breakfast as I was feeling homesick. The waffles were so crispy and fluffy. The bacon was cooked to perfection. Only thing was that the hash browns could have been a little bit more cooked and brown. Service was very friendly, although at the end it was very hard to flag down our waiter to pay. Still loved the overall atmosphere of the place. Would choose Gringo Cafe over iHOP.

Excellent breakfast and atmosphere for gringos. If you can make it here and looking for a more US style type breakfast this is your spot.

    Mojito was amazing

Stumble across this gem! My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs with a mojito, and I order the country side with a margarita. Both dishes were excellent. Great customer service from our waiter. Also a bilingual location for locals and tourist. Would definitely recommend and come back

Tried this place because the name sounded too good to pass up. Despite the name - it was actually a great breakfast. Lots of egg and omelet options. Really friendly staff, they even offered to give us suggestions of places to go visit. I recommend it if you want some good gringo breakfast in rio

Went here once for dinner and once for brunch. This was highly recommended from TripAdvisor - so we decided to check it out! They have indoor and outdoor seating - fully equipped with a big fan mister. Love their decor & atmosphere - reminded me of home. For dinner - they weren't busy at all so we were seated immediately. We went right after the sunset at Ipanema. Our waiter spoke English so communication wasn't an issue. I ordered the Mac N Cheese - I was super excited because it's Mac N Cheese! I was super disappointed though. It was super bland -_- If they added more shredded Parmesan - it would be better for the flavor. I was really sad about it, actually. Sooo - I decided to not do a review until I gave it another try. For brunch - they were busy and they put our name on a whiteboard but only told us 5 mins until we would be seated - legit. I ordered a Iced Mocha - which was pretty sweet and yummy. For Brunch, I ordered the Eggs Benedict (Vegetariano) which was a remix with Cheddar Cheese. It came with the Eggs Benedict and that's it. Perfect for me but there was no sides - FYI. I finished it & it was so delicious! If you pay with a card - they bring the machine to your table and process the transaction. Their employees are super friendly & always had a smile on their face. I say, give them a try!

You can go inside and order drinks off the menu (including draft beer), or you can go outside and order the bottles of beer that they have there. But you can't do both from inside, unless you're seated by the ledge and lean over. Another strange thing is that you have to tell the cashier what you want, pay, and then she'll tell the bartender. If you just tell the bartender he won't do anything but look at you funny. This system doesn't work very well because you'll see lines forming for the cashiers while the bartenders sit around waiting to make a drink. Is it that hard to pour a draft beer? You know someone else is going to order one. It gets packed and seems to attract the American frat boy type, though I don't know why. The music is good and loud and the crowd spills out onto the street, where you have to be careful because it attracts some shady characters. Expect to smell pot. It has a lot of character and is definitely unique, but bottom line, if every other place was closed I might come here. So would everyone else.

Once again, I was delighted by the food and the ambiance (where else can you sit in the city next to a park and looking straight at Cristo Redentor! The service was just as wonderful as I remembered. They recommended drinks (caipirinha de caçu) and the cuts of meat (always picanha for me)! We started with a nice assortment of break and accompaniments. The picanha was full of flavor and just the right amount. The side of palmito that was baked with cheese and nuts was out of this world!. Of course, a picanha isn't complete without farofa (we had the egg farofa). And to top everything off a pistachio petite gateau with raspberry sorbet...amazing! Once again, I have a reason to remember this spectacular place and to come back to Rio. Thank you!

The pork rib appetizer seemed boiled. not grilled. And had a slightly sweet sauce. Underwhelming. My main dish, beef ribs also didn't seem right. They were tender but also seemed not slow roasted as they should be. They were finished with a decent demi-glace that didn't belong there. The puffed potatoes that came where somehow off, unfortunately. And the desert, a simple Brazilian style flan, was also poorly executed. Certainly subpar for the price and the high expectations I had from this brand.
