When I asked how big the moqueca was he used his fingers to say it was a small dish. Of course that was untrue as the dishes delivered was more than 2x what he showed and came with a bunch of sides like a gravy, rice and something else. No explanation given of what they were as he just served everything to me. Given all that I read about moqueca I had high expectations about the dish. However the fish was over cooked and very dry eventhough it was covered in a sauce. The shrimps were better and overall it was a very filling plate. The overcooked fish was a letdown for me. I had a lot of leftovers and asked it to be packed up to go (which I was charged R12 extra for). I struck up a Google Translate conversation with a nurse seated next to me so that was a different way to pass the time as solo diners. I ended up giving my to go bag to share with her family since my hotel had no kitchen facilities. Tab was settled at the table with little explanation of the charges. 10% service charge was added automatically. Overall a very expensive dinner for an average tasting meal at best. I won't be coming back.

The service was excellent, our servers were incredibly patient, attentive, and friendly. A pleasant surprise was that they spoke English, which made ordering much easier and honestly encouraged us to try more food and drinks. (Our server apologized for their English but our server had a great command of the language) I ordered a caipirinha, the Cozze a Piacere, and the Spaghetti alle Vongole. Everything was delicious. The spaghetti with clams was perfectly portioned and full of flavor. The drinks were strong, beautifully presented, and well made. One small disappointment: my appetizer was listed online as coming with bread, but it didn't. Luckily, someone at the table ordered bread later so I got to enjoy the delicious broth with the musssles. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated with a warm, inviting ambiance, perfect for special occasions or date night. That said, the biggest downside was the restroom situation. The ladies restroom was clogged and had an unpleasant odor, which detracted from the overall experience. The handicapped restroom, however, was much cleaner. (I took a star away for this reason only) After reading mixed reviews beforehand, I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were treated very well. The staff struck a great balance, attentive without being intrusive and were very accommodating throughout the evening. The bill was also clearly itemized and easy to understand, which is always appreciated for a large group. Tip: Don't hesitate to ask questions, the staff is knowledgeable and happy to help guide your choices.

The cheese and mashed potatoes made the fish so filling I was stuffed. Crawfish carpaccio was different but I wish the it was more thinly sliced it was a bit slimy. I loved the spread they brought out in the beginning. You almost don't need an appetizer it was nice to nibble on and very unique.

They even have a little mini mart attached to the restaurant if you want to take some goodies home with you after your meal. After being seated, I ordered a Brazilian beer and started perusing the large menu. One of the things that annoyed me is that a description isn't given for each entree. So for the ones that aren't obvious, you don't know exactly what's included with the dish. We saw the table sitting next to us eating what looks like a delicious dish so we ordered the same thing. My friend is Brazilian and he speaks Portuguese so he ordered for us. When our food arrived, it was the wrong dish. My friend mentioned this and the waiter seemed annoyed but ultimately brought out the right dish. Despite all of the hiccups, the Brazilian fish, layered between what is similar to a lasagna, was delicious. It doesn't come cheaply though, the entrees here are pretty pricey. While the food was good, the overall experience left some things to be desired.
