It's hit and miss with some of their products, and you cannot guarantee that if they are the only local store that carries a special item, that it will be there. The prices used to be cheaper, bags now are .20/ bag "because the cost of everything has gone up." their sign, not my idea. It just seems that in total that customer service has really gone away from Outlet since their remodel. I have seen fish that had no business on the shelf in a open fridge that I found (glad I found the gray section before paying for it, that was hidden under another filet, would have had to be immediately thrown in the garbage (or compost heap). Cheeses have been found to have moldy parts in them (especially the alternative cheese), and worse, was Miyoko's Cream cheese which was opened and used ONCE molded the next day (blue green ring around the cream cheese area). We have a new fridge so we know from two thermometers that there is nothing off with our fridge. This is their inability to get their products that are highly perishable in their fridge areas. The prices have gone up and after having thrown away: greens, cheeses gone bad, and meat that has been slimy, I think we will start bypassing Outlet. I don't need to go to the hospital over the "so called savings". Since they don't have a customer card, and their app is worthless , in the end they will lose more people. No one tends to hang on to a month's worth of grocery tapes to bring an item back to the store. And as for things that have been recalled (QuakerOats Brand of bars) it is UP TO THE CUSTOMER to do the leg work to see if the item should be pulled, because they were still on the shelf that I found someone going through the bars, and her phone trying to figure out what was safe. I've NEVER experienced such a level of rudeness. we arrived at 2 minutes before closing (more like 5, but 2 according to them.) first the "customer" walking out said out loud "she's more fucked up then I am!" my daughter had just driven 2 days up to our beautiful Oregon from Los Angeles area. she was tired. so we hurriedly went to grab the ice cream- 15 seconds- then I then heading to the aisle to find the juice because my girls a great wife and she made getting her husbands ice cream more of a priority than grumpy employees. attacking us for being close to closing. the boy employee was clearly aggravated that we still wanted to come in even after he'd informed us it was close to closing. the girl whom I'm guessing was a very important manager there, was yelling-( I do mean yelling ) that we were stating we were hurrying, but your not heading to my register and its closing. does dollar generals register by satellite or something? Anyway. The boy at the register never spoke, but kept his angry demented while the "manager" continued on with her condescending rude comments. When the wi fi didn't work on the register he slammed it back on with profanity under his breath and completed his urgent sale. We were back in the car and leaving at exactly 10:00. my receipt confirms our time. Dollar General you have shameful employees at your store. I love this store because it's closer then going to other organic or gluten free chains. It has a great selection of all natural food and holistic medicine products. It's always very clean and it's easy to find items that are needed. During the shortage this store has been fully stocked and they the have the best animal section. I also love all the ladies that work there. Carol is always really nice and I never seen her is a bad news. My family relies on Grocery Outlet for huge savings. We probably save something around $600/month by shopping here. We cook an insane amount, so our largest expenditure is on food. I love this place because they have a good section of organic food: eggs, chicken, bread, vegetables, sauces, teas, grains, mixes, pasta, etc...as well as a surprising selection of dairy-free and gluten free items. I've bought vegan cheese and milk here that is being sold at upscale markets in town for $5 more per item! The only downside(s) are that you have to be careful of some of the expiration dates and consume the items quickly (which isn't a problem for us), and if you fall in love with some items, they may not continue to stock them. Beside the usual staples, they also frequently carry exotic items such as: cauliflower tortilla chips, edamame pasta, safflower butter, monk fruit sugar and baking items, oat milk, Braggs amino acid, Manuka honey, etc... Lastly, I have to echo another person's review in that they should have a working restroom for customers. I was feeling sick one day and had to literally abandon my basket and run across the street to a bar for their restroom. It is reasonable to expect that a grocery shopping experience should include access to a restroom for its customers. Other than that, we love this place! read more

I am no longer a fan of this Grocery Outlet location. They've recently done a remodel and it's no longer convenient. Grocery Outlet stocks products that are either about to expire or were over-produced. Sometimes it's a good deal, sometimes it's not. They tend to stock a lot of off brands I've never heard of. It can be very hit and miss to find what you're looking for, as nothing is stocked consistently. They price everything with their price and "everywhere else" prices. Which aren't always accurate. I would presume they use higher end expensive grocery stores to compare prices with, and not cheaper stores such as Wal-Mart or Winco. Employees aren't all that friendly in this store. You have to hunt one down if you're looking for something, and they aren't excited to help at all. You're almost treated as an annoyance to them. I dislike the remodel because they closed off the south end doors, leaving just one entrance and exit to the store, with all kinds of shelves and crap around it, causing it to seem like a maze. For starters, this seems like a huge fire code violation, not to mention it's dangerous. If there were an emergency, there's only one exit with copious amounts of crap to wind your way around trying to get out. There is handicap parking on the south end, but you have to walk all the way to the north end just to get in now. So those with problems walking long distances are now out of parking spaces because they need to be at the other end. It's a store I once frequented with my mom all the time, and it was cheap to stock up on staple items for my pantry. Now I can't even take her in there without her becoming tired and agitated due to the remodel. She loved this store and raved about it. Now she rarely finds anything we need and favors the one on River Road, which is an extra 8 miles round trip just to go to. But it's easier for her and she likes it better. read more

It's a fun place to shop because there will be different products offered all the time while still keeping the staples stocked. Beer and ice cream are my favorite items to buy for less $$. I have been coming to this store for years but things have changed for the worse with the most recent owners. For one thing the prices are sky high, often higher than Freddie's or Market of Choice on certain items. After being burned on prices numerous times I try to be more careful and I do not buy as many items there as I used to. An example: I recently paid $5.99 for a container of fresh blueberries and then went to Freddie's where I found them on special for $3.99. Very frustrating. It used to be my go to store. Not anymore. I believe their advertisement about how much you are saving to be deceptive. Illegal? I have also experienced incredibly rude staff ( not all ) who are stocking shelves and have actually copped an attitude with me when I have asked for access to the products they are blocking. I also do not like the remodel where the back entrance is now closed, I, too, feel like it is not safe and it is certainly inconvenient. The selection has also changed for the worse. Things I used to always look for are a thing of the past. The grocery carts are disgusting and there are never any sanitary wipes to wipe down the handles. There is a dispenser waiting inside the door that is always empty. I watched one of the employees "clean" the used carts outdoors and it was a joke. Trust me. She walked down the row of carts with a spray bottle and gave each card a spray as she walked by. Bring your own wipes when you come or be grossed out. read more

Why go here, with all the complaints here about parking and a coercive remodel you see online? Because it is not in the least pretentious, the products are good, the prices are low (though their comparisons are high), the quality is mostly good. Lots of organic and specialty stuff, including gluten-free goodies. Here's an example: This organic, fair trade, sustainably sourced, not-Reese's peanut butter cup (https://www.theochocolate.com/product/121) sells from the manufacturer for $2.29. The same product was approaching its 3/29/2017 "best by" date when I first saw, tried, and loved it for $1.00 a pack at Grocery Outlet. A couple of weeks later the (meaningless) "best by" date has passed, and the yummies are 88¢... and I buy two cases. Multiply this find by three dozen, and you get my usual Grocery Outlet shopping basket: bananas, sausage, cheeses, GF pizza, cheap canned goods, chips, candy, beer, wine, protein and snack bars, and on and on. Caveat emptor and all that, but you can't beat a lot of the bargains. The "you saved $N.nn" schtick as you check out is a broadly-accepted jest; our unofficial goal is always to "save" more than we spend. And we usually do! That said, do NOT go here the first of the month. Ever. All those people complaining about how far they have to haul themselves to the door will be there, having a social outing and blocking the aisles. Never, I repeat, NEVER go to Grocery Outlet on an empty stomach after hiking Mt. Pisgah. We almost bought this place out. 4 bottles of wine, bag of beans, 12 pack of Widmer samplers, spinach, Bear Naked cereal, cashews, macadamias, red-white-blue vegetable chips, Italian sausage, kombucha, blah...blah....blah! Grocery Outlet has a little bit of everything, all of it cheaper than what you'd pay at Safeway, Albertsons, Market of Privilege and any other grocery store in this area. It's even cheaper than Winco, but you don't get the bulk food options. It's not just generic brand ketchup from a recently closed grocery chain in Arkansas either, they have quality products at cheap prices. Two things I love most about this location: Vitamins and Supplements: They have an enormous selection and the best prices around. The Chip Aisle: Oh man, so many options. If the bomb drops I'm heading straight to Grocery Outlet to loot up on deep fried potato goodness. The best part; just about every Poore Brothers Potato Chip every created inhabits this aisle. I was sad moving to Oregon when I found out that there were no ALDI's grocery stores, but grocery outlet is pretty much the same thing. Grocery outlet buys items which were over-produced or close to sale expiration for dirt cheap and then passes on the savings to the customer. Because of this, you have a new selection of items every week, which is kinda fun to browse. What's really nice about this is that they will get some good deals on organics and such that you can't find at the average grocery. While there are some good picks, there are some clearly cheap items that I wouldn't pay a penny for... you just have to know how to shop to make grocery outlet worth your while. The signs that tell you how much money your saving are really inaccurate, so be wary of an item's stated value, though there are some awesome prices on certain items- like 50-75% off retail price. Otherwise prices generally range around walmart pricing. Overall: Grocery outlet is my new go-to grocery store! They may not always have a brand you're looking for or a specific item, but for your general shopping needs it's great. WARNING update: I did mention that they buy some items close to expiration to sell at cheap prices, so beware of quickly perishable goods. I bought a loaf of bread for 99 cents and had to throw it away in about 4 days. I would also stay away from their produce section. Yeah! I dropped in. Yeah... I was surprised. Yeah... I'll be back! I found caramel macaroons that lasted maybe 2 days at my work. OMG! Delish! I picked up a pork shoulder for pulled pork tacos. I always find most items I need a really cheap prices. The wine section takes top honors for the store and I always find good prices in the freezer/deli sections. They have boxes and merchandise closing off the extra doors, so you have go to the ONE door that shuttles you around like a rat in a maze. All I can say is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! Customer service since the new owners took over is not there. All the great employees that we loved left and a whole new staff was hired. They are rude, don't smile, take forever in the checkout because the tellers would rather chat than scan items. You are lucky if they have 2 check stands open. We affectionately call this place the "Groc. Out." A randomly great selection of cheeses--you can usually find an excellent brie, good havarti, northern California cheddars and monterey Jacks, etc. Usually a randomly great selection of beer and wine, too. They often have at least one or two flavors of Ben & Jerry's or Haagen Dasz pints for $1.99. Good finds in frozen foods--often a couple types of Amy's organics frozen dinners, and the frozen mixed veggies are pretty good. Once in a while there's an organic mixed frozen veggie blend that's much better than what you'd find at most chain grocery stores. I can usually pick up a few staples--canned tomatoes, olive oil--too, but the price on these are usually not better than WinCo. They'll also have some home & garden stuff, clothes, vitamins, paper products, toiletries, cleaning products, etc. They have a little bit of everything, the catch is you really can't depend on finding any specific product. read more

Argh I love bargain market but the Springfield location is absolutely terrible! I was in the checkout line and had regretably put all my items up on the conveyor belt, which was maybe only about 10 items, and the person in front of me was complaining that his sausages should of been 2 for $6. I was forced to wait about 5 minutes while an associate went to check the shelf, search through the catalog, go check the shelf again, then finally find out that price was for a different brand, but they were going to give him that $6 price anyway. The 5 minute wait soon turned into a 10 minute wait when the cashier didn't know how to ring up the sausages with a different price....more waiting for a manager to come help her. Not once did the cashier, the manager, or any other associate apologize for the wait. Another cashier even grabbed the people waiting behind me to go to a different register, and they were out of the store long before me. Oh, my mistake for putting my groceries up too soon, how would I of known? I considered just walking out of the store, but I really needed those groceries. Finally he pays for his sausages and leaves. I don't even get a "hello" from the cashier. She starts ringing me up and doesn't even know how to load groceries into a reusable bag--she kept asking me do you want this in here? Is this ok like this? And hesitating where to put things in the bag. It was only 10 items! I just wanted to be like geez lady you've kept me waiting long enough I have places I need to be! Anyone could tell by my face how frustrated and angry I was at this whole situation. It's unfortunate because I hate going to the Springfield bargain market because their selection isn't as good, the people who shop there are sketchy and smell horrible--they stink up entire aisles, and now I realize the customer service is just horrendously lacking. What do you expect, I guess. The least the cashier could of done is acknowledge me, not just stand there avoiding eye contact while someone gets a price check, the manager should have grabbed my items and taken them to another line to ring me up. I usually go out of my way to go over the Eugene location but circumstances this time made me go to this location with utter regret. After this I am simply never coming here again. This is not the same Grocery Outlet/Canned Foods store!!!!! The NEW owner changed it all and made it like a normal grocery store. The CANDY aisle is gone as are all the fun snacks and unusual items that made coming here fun. The entrance is not good for those people who have trouble getting around, they will have to walk twice as far unless you parked in the handicapped spot. The stores entrance funnels you around, making you feel like a rat in a maze. I asked the manager what happened to all my favorite things to buy, she just shrugged and said "NEW owner." She and the other employees looked stressed and it was a slow Wednesday mid morning. Something else was making them nervous. NEVER going back, taking my money elsewhere, thank you. OK, back to Grocery Outlet, today I got Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits (10 to a can), which are pretty good, for 99 cents, so that was a good buy. And about a month ago, they had two pounds of butter (love butter but won't buy it unless a bargain) for $5! Noticed all but one of their cake mixes were $1.29, I can get what I need for 99 cents elsewhere. Overall, a good place to shop if you know your prices. read more

Great store! This place has about the best prices around, and they have lots of high quality food. One thing that may be a drawback for some, it's not always the same selection, but that's great too! New surprises come along when I keep going back, which is refreshing. For months I was getting $2 jars of kalamata olives, then that ended. I've gotten stuff like raw cacao, coconut butter, avocado oil, Himalayan sea salt, kale chips... all for about half price or better compared to other places one finds these products. New remodel was a lot of work for them for sure but a money loser from our family. It is no longer convient at all, we walk into a very cluster phobic entrance that makes one feel like a cow entering a shoot, to seeing shelves stacked too high full of laundry detergent,molasses, toys, and various other 'groceries'. There goes my appetite right there. Nothing food wise even looks appealing after my initial experience of simply walking in the door. The option for the other door entrance is closed, and this place is not longer convient at all, let alone a fire hazard now. Getting out of this store in case of emergency would be a nightmare. We used to spend about $170/wk here. Over the last two months because of this new and improved remodel we have spent less than $300 total. And if this remodel was to stop theft, then someone should have been watching that old man in his roll around walker putting meat products under the seat he was sitting on when he went through check out. I'm sure you guys will make it up with all the cardboard you are saving now by not giving customers boxes because "we make money off the weight of them so we don't give them out anymore", as I was informed by a sultry checker who obviously couldn't stand being in that store any more than I could. So, the savings isn't worth it, is my bottom line. Everything can be purchased at comperable prices elsewhere and is far more convient, let alone better feeling experiences. Sorry, guys, you missed a mark and are losing a ten year customer because of it. Hope you're love for more money shows you in the long run that you should take care of the customers you already have had in this area. But then you don't even take care of your employees enough to make them even be able to smile (NOT ANY OF THEM!....they must be taking lessons from that sultry assistant personality man who works hard but looks like he'd shoot you in the ally if he could because he's been in a bad mood for 10 years)...if these are your new and improved standards, then you can keep them.
