found mold on the store baked breads- when we went back, the bakery manager didn't believe us. We walked him over to the items on the shelf and showed him the moldy bread. Self Check Out which I use quite a bit. The employees have always been very helpful with the exception of today... I took an item off before I paid so it wouldn't proceed, so the employee got a message, he came over and he signed in and when I saw the total I said, that looks high for what I bought. He actually said "what do you want me to do about it!" I said excuse me?! I asked if he was an employee, his badge was turned around, I thought maybe this guy doesn't work here. He said again in a hostile manner " what do you want me to do about it!" And before I could say anything, he told me I was being rude. I said excuse me? " he said you are being really rude right now!" I said "I just asked you a simple question" and then I told him to step back from me get away from me go back to your till. You are upsetting me. Mike doesn't know well about the product that goes in and the talk about pipe bombs in front of my senior mother was rude. Almost intentional. Buying food for elderly and was getting judged for using EBT when store allows it. Had to write it out when he could have accommodated and instead humiliated me in the line making me do it myself. Literally as a clerk without that much customers. Declined to try further and had me punch in the numbers frankly, seemed like he didn't want to do it. Come to find out none of the clerks are authorized to give change and Customer Service went on a break for 15 minutes just when I wanted to get change for the vending machine. I asked in three different ways and was turned down flat three strikes out. On my recent trip to the Springfield Oregon WinCo on Olympic Street I was just pleased with the service I got when I was with my caregiveree person I take care of and we went got a few items in the store and she does have trouble you know standing for a certain periods of time or whatever but that shouldn't have been any worry went through the self-checkout now as I'm coming up to the self-checkout I see the lady that resides right there and takes care of people when they need to exchange something or other things and helps you out with your check out walk right up to us directly and start counting the items in the basket of my caregiver's cart and I said they're 16 in there and the sign clearly says I know this 15 items or less so we could cliche about this all day long like okay what's considered an item and if you get more than one of them is that considered the same as one item or is that considered more because you got like three of them and we're just let's just for reference candy bar or whatever but at the list of everything she goes yeah you cannot go through here with that many items you're going to have to put one back and I relate to her that yes the person I care for right here has trouble standing and she points over there to there's one of those carts that you drive around that she says well she can sit there that's Grand and everything and stuff okay but I'm trying to keep her from getting any more sick or anything which means I don't want her touching his many things a little little as she has to is possible because there is the viruses out there and everything and the less she touches is the better off for her health cuz she's 87 years old but I still was told no you cannot go through here not even with one item over that and pretty soon here we're going to be having somebody stand there and count the number of items before somebody goes through there and and at this point I'm thinking to myself well what purpose would that be because we wouldn't have been going through there with 16 items if they had a lot of check stands open more than two but they only had two open so they're going to hire somebody to stand over there and count people instead of putting that person to work and checking out people to make sure they're not going through that line with too many times that don't make any sense not very happy this please address I would advise not to go there especially if you're a senior citizen you get no senior citizen nothing​ read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. My husband and I were just there grocery shopping after school, and we take the bus so we had our backpacks with our school books and stuff in there. We got our items and proceeded to checkout. As we're walking out the doors we got stopped by a big guy and a female. They put their hands on us, the female grabbed my elbow HARD, telling us we need to put back the things we stole, (we didn't steal anything, infact we spent a little over $100.) So we're both pretty much yelling at each other, they're saying they're going to call the cops and we're trying to tell them we don't have anything. At this point I just started laughing. I told them to check our bags, the only thing they'll find is school work. And when they didn't find anything they still acted all tough, didn't even apologize or anything. Completely disrespectful. I have never felt profiled like that! Just cause we were wearing backpacks you think we are shoplifters?! I am still blown away. Have since filed a formal complaint. Winco is my all around grocery store for savings and it's near my home. However, they don't carry everything, like Good Seasons Zesty Italian, for example. All in all, a solid store for low prices. I have requested the Good Seasons Zesty Italian, but so far, I haven't seen it on the shelf yet. I have always had good customer service when it comes to Winco. Just be aware that at busy time, it will get crowded and loud, so be aware and be courteous. And to those that ask about not accepting credit cards---its to keep prices low. read more

Went to Springfield OR WinCo and it is not a great store. I have bought expired or close to expired food items, have watched their deli make food items with no gloves on and their organic onions/garlic were coated in gnats and all their organic should have been pulled as it looked like rubber. Yes I should have known better, but it was the only organic in the entire town without going into Eugene. The best part was the bakery item that I discovered were filled with ants that I missed as there were inside the pastries that then escaped when I got home so then chased them down everywhere. They have seafood that smelled so bad I could hardly stand it being in the store very and it followed me outside. I see a town that seems to not have much pride in itself and absolutely no class. This is a destination every time I return home because there are so many great products for so cheap! We like to load up on bulk foods such as quinoa which is roughly 1/3 the price we usually pay! It's also a great place to refill herbs and spices, we especially like the Chinese 5 spice and chipotle mixes. The produce prices are great and there is a huge selection of dairy products. Ethnic isles, deli counter with hot and cold, sushi selection, large produce, meat variety, Dairy out the wazoo, a expansive candy/chip/treat isle. They have a bottle return as well as pizzeria and customer service. They do money services as well. Staff is friendly, lines can be long. Self checkout is an option and only service animals allowed in the building. Sales of wine, cider and beer but no liquor per Oregon law. Office supplies, holiday decor, and seasonal items also available tucked away near produce. They do a good thanksgiving turkey day each year as well as year around great pricing on most items. This is a very large store, with decent prices. Although I recommend price comparison to other stores too. This is a very large store, but it's insanely busy. So if you're just going in for a couple things, beware! There are long lines, with full shopping carts. If they didn't have self checkout for those times, I wouldn't go in unless it was time to restock the pantry and freezer. I highly recommend price comparison. They do have good prices, but sometimes Wal-Mart is better. The tea I drink is $2 cheaper for a six pack at Wal-Mart, and have a better selection of flavors. The frozen food section leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion as well. They do have a good fruit/produce section, as well as bulk items. My husband typically stocks up on his candy here. It's one of those stores where they have a good selection on some things and lack in others. Just like every grocery store. I hate going in early in the morning because they restock and block up half the isles. It's a zoo. There are times I've seen so many people stocking one single isle, I just said screw it, I don't need whatever item that badly to attempt going down there. They don't take credit cards, nor do they bag your purchase for you. You've gotta do that yourself. It's a store we've gone to for many years, and will keep returning to. I should note that this is the only Winco I have been to - so I can't make comparisons. However, this is probably where you will find the most affordable version of anything. If there are certain items here that you do not think are the best price here, I would like to know (not being sassy - I just haven't seen anything that has a lower price elsewhere!) Their bulk section is pretty amazing, I have gotten spices from here to avoid buying expensive whole jars of specialty spices. They also have baking mixes, falafel mixes, soup powders, a lot of gluten free flours. After going to the one on Barger and then going to this location is light and day. First the parking lot is quite small for a busy place like this and the area is very sketchy with the clientele that go here. On the inside this place is just dark and gloomy, and as if Winco just gave up on this one and said well at least we have another store that is good. We will just keep this one the way it is. The whole vibe when shopping here is just gloom and how I would feel if I was severely depressed. They need to seriously lighten it up in there and just get it cleaner. We stopped at Winco to buy a few items while on vacation in Springfield. We toured the store putting items in our cart and then went and checked out. Winco is like a cross between Costco and a food store. Its all sort of industrial looking, and you have to bag your own groceries at checkout. Their NO CREDIT CARDS policy was inconvenient but tolerable. As I took my items out to my car I found an Iphone on the street in front of their door. It hadn't been run over yet so I picked it up. After putting my food in my car I returned to Winco to ask them to hold the phone until whoever dropped it came back. I approached the greeter/door security person and started to explain the phone. Another man in a Winco outfit came up and took the Iphone without so much as a "thank you" or anything for helping his customers. Quite rude. While there I went to their customer restroom, and was again leaving when I was accosted by some Winco functionary. He gave me some rude bullshit about me not being welcome to shop at their store barefoot. Shoes hurt my feet so I choose to go without as does the Barefoot Society. The Winco jerk was too pig headed to listen. They do not want me back. Next time I will shop at a store that treats customers with respect due to those who pay for their existence. Prices are usually fair and sometimes actually pretty great. Bulk food section is a dream. Produce is...fair enough -- not more than a handful of organic options in the entire produce section. Conventional peanut, almond, honey peanut, and cashew grinding machines, as well as bulk honey and coffee are available. Staff is usually pretty good -- no memorable staff experiences, good or bad. Handicapped parking available, as well as handicapped buggies to vroom around in. Bathrooms are stall style and alright, no better or worse than expected. The single unpleasant surprise is that the self checkout "pinpad" for payment cards...only accepts EBT, gift card, or debit -- credit cards aren't accepted! I'm not sure if this is self checkout only, but either way, pretty absurd, unheard of. It'd be nice to have a sign warning patrons that certain checkstands do not accept credit cards. Otherwise, usually a pretty good, predictable, shopping experience. read more

Terrible. Self checkout: two sides--one says cards only, the other cash and cards. Lies! "Cards Only" apparently means ONLY DEBIT CARDS. No obvious signs. Credit cards declined twice, cashier acted like I should have known that and I was inconveniencing her. She had a terrible attitude and made it seem like it was MY FAULT I couldn't complete my check out. She pointed out a sign, hidden behind the check out screen, with tiny print at the bottom where it reads "credit cards not accepted." Then that's not "cards," is it? Signs should read 'DEBIT CARDS ONLY!" Ridiculously inconvenient and then to be treated as though I was stupid is completely unacceptable! I have a mind to never shop here again. Used to love this store, but it was gotten steadily worse at customer service since COVID. They never have enough ride-on carts for the elderly or disabled, and no places to sit near the door to wait for one. They require I give up my ID in order to use one--NOBODY ELSE DOES THIS! Acting like I'm some sort of thief because they are too cheap or too lazy to 1) have enough carts and/or 2) put the shut down alarms on them so they can't be stolen. Instead they treat the customers as though they are the enemy. I'm done. If that cashier worked for me, she would be unemployed tomorrow for her terrible and condescending attitude. They are going to keep losing customers with attitudes like I saw today. Aren't they employee owned? Then her comment that "I don't make the rules," is a cop-out. If you are looking for a bright, shiny shopping experience with aisles filled with promotional decorations and a nice boy to carry your bags out to your car- go some place else. This place is okay. My family is on a strict budget. Shopping here lets us buy some of our favorite brand name stuff for much less than other stores. It's great place to stock up on your everyday stuff- rice, frozen veggies, spaghetti sauce, pasta. They even have some good organic and local options for awesome prices. I really love their bulk food section! Really good prices on granola and baking supplies. We've had a few bad experiences with the produce section. It's often over or under ripe. Sometimes it's just low quality or diseased. If you choose to try the produce, examine it very, very carefully before making a purchase. I have bought meat here a few times and I haven't had a problem. It's not the fanciest best meat in the world, but I've never bought anything bad from here either. read more

I just got back from here, and it wasn't the greatest time, but I've had way worse. One thing I have to agree with John D. on is the morons who just talk and chat and clog the isles. I dealt with this about 4 times just 1 hour ago. Mornings are surely the best time to hit up either winco...Im accustomed to the set up at the barger location...I think it's displayed and laid out a little better...but still similar. The lines weren't bad this afternoon either which was a plus. Just be aware that both Winco's accept Debit/Cash only. They dont take credit cards because it helps them keep their costs down. This WinCo is my go to for Grocery shopping. I get a cart full of great food for me and my family for under 300.00 every time. It's a great place with happy smiling checkers, stockmen, and managers available to answer any questions. They have food in bulk and in my opinion this place is like a Costco for middle class and under, it's very money efficient and I like it for that reason. They have a very good selection of meats and vegetables and fruits to choose from. The pizza they cook and sell is killer. I buy one maybe 2 times a month , but I live in the that area so it's convenient for my family. read more

I like shopping here. I love the bulk section. I get my rice, flour, pancake mix, cereal, and sugar there. And on occasion i get pineapple licorice, dried apricots, nuts and various other candies. You can even get your spices, coffee, dog/cat food and dog treats. WARNING: If the parking lot is full just leave and come back later !! I gets very frustrating shopping here when you have kids with you and its packed. If its just you then put your GRR face on and show no mercy. I prefer to go here at night. Its not crowded and i usually find some reduced prices on meats. And yes at night the aisles get blocked and things are in the way but you are shopping at night at a 24hour store. Dont be afraid to get in way too, just be quick and polite about it. Update: Terrible today! I was shopping at 10:30 to 11:00am today for a super bowl party. Store was fairly busy. No problem really with other shoppers. The store was jam packed with big pallets wrapped in plastic. They were blocking all the aisles in the meat department. These were not displays, it was like extra storage that was in the way of the items that were for sale. Crazy!!! There were extra crackers, tortillas, soda and etc. There were employees hauling some of these pallets into the closed doors in the back of the store and other employees taking the pallets into aisles blocking customers. One particularly offensive employee in grey and white striped polo with no name tag driving a big pallet wildly and out of control. Shame on him and his rude behaviour. After he nearly ran me over he glared and snarled rather than appologized. Disgusting! read more
