I was so happy to see construction going on at Grossmont center! I love outdoor malls but this one is very much outdated and has been in need of a new look for awhile. All the stores with construction outfront had signs so you know they're still open. The work didn't get in the way of my shopping at all.. easy to navigate. Grossmont has a good mix of top retail stores (target, Walmart, barnes and noble, dollar tree) and small businesses. I think it's value added to your shopping experience when you're able to meet business owners and see the impact your support has on a family. I hope the updates do not drive costs up and that small businesses remain. I've found great deals here when everything is just so expensive. If you have young kids, definitely go visit the playground! Avoid the overstock store. It's just not worth it. I am really looking forward to seeing the new food court. I hope it will look better and feel better when you walk inside because it just seemed so dirty for me and I didn't want to eat at any of the places. I tried one time and the place I wanted was closed. I have nothing against any individual food place. The look of the court made me uncomfortable and makes me question what I don't get to see. Anyways, I will keep shopping here and I'm glad to see money going into it opposed to tearing it down. read more

Grossmont center has not changed since I was a teen. This mall has a nostalgic feel to it whenever I visit. Decent size mall with target, Walmart, bath body works, Barnes & nobles, Verizon, ceramic cafe etc. there's a few restaurants around the center as well. It's so close to the freeway and plenty of parking. Pretty good customer service at most of the stores. I am sad that they recently closed down the cinema; such an affordable place to go when you want to watch new movie releases. So much cheaper than AMC for sure. read more

We were having a family gathering and needed to buy some supplies. We saw the Walmart and the World Market in the Grossmont Center. There's lots of shopping in this shopping center/mall. Great shopping area with plenty of shops and eateries. Ample parking. There's a Walmart and World Market on one end. A Macy's and Target on the other end. There's a Barnes & Noble, movie theater, bath and body works, and much more. Plenty of eateries as well. Overall, it's like a one stop shop. You can come for a movie and a meal! This is my Second Visit to the Grossmont Center Mall today with my friend Emily. We walked around outside the Grossmont Center Mall. This mall has a lot of great stores and good restaurants and coffee shops, a Barber Shop and other places to explore today. Some of these stores I saw this afternoon where The Walmart Supercenter Store is a much smaller store that's half the size of the Walmart Supercenter Store in the Lemon Grove area. This Walmart Store has a limited selection of food products and women's and men's clothes. I also saw a McDonald's Restaurant that's located inside this Walmart Store. There are also an A T & T Store. The Bath & Body Works Store, Jamba Juice, Kona Coffee Shop, A Halloween Party Store, A Famous Footwear Store, A Beauty Supply Store, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, A U. S. California Bank, A Wells Fargo Bank, A Panda Express Restaurant, Rubio's Restaurant, Wentzel's Pretzels, Target Store, Gyros Restaurant, Another Mexican Restaurant and several other places. I did a lot of walking around this Grossmont Center Mall today. I stopped a couple of time to sit outside on the benches to enjoy the sunshine with my friend Emily. Then we decided to have Lunch at The Rubio's Coastal Grill Restaurant today at 1 PM. We had a very delicious lunch meal. This Grossmont Center Mall is HUGE and it was also good exercise for me because I did a lot of walking today. I will definitely come back here again to explore more places. Food Delivery drivers This mall needs to make their red zone traffic lane a fire lane. Maybe then law enforcement can do what the security fails at. Ridiculous the security don't do anything in regard to traffic safety in their shopping center. The dumb food delivery drivers park on the red curbs and block up traffic flow. People might as well park along this area curbside since they are allowed to do so. The companies involved doing pick up orders with these drivers should simply verify they're not placing vehicles in areas it shouldn't. If they are, don't hand the product. It isn't complicated. Security can even photograph and report these dumb drivers to the platform they use. read more

Withe the many years that I have worked at Grossmont Center the many years you have seen the large groups that5 would come by for movie night and the food court would be full of people for the weekends. For the mall it had so many restaurants if you wanted to get Wendys and have some of the best Spanish food the mall started to change with the mall itself when Covid had come upon San Diego and through the many areas of San Diego and the many areas of the East County many shops that were busy hade to close. The buildings at Grossmont Center they show the age and the companies that came to Grossmont, and many are still there, and many were forced out when the Walmart store had come to Grosmont Center. The many stores you could go to there were the card specialty stores and the special invitations you could get done and the glass wear Engraved that was one store that the store could do many types of plates and the silver products. The shopping center has many years with the many shopping malls yet with the Grossmont Center having to go along with the times and attracting customers it was bringing in Ice Cream stores along with certain companies and to create food courts towards the front area of the shopping mall. Grossmont Center took on a rowdy house restaurant that was one of the best here in San Diego the name of the location was Carlos Murphys the place of the grand Burrito and the large margarita some of the best lunch menus and when you came for the evening you could get the best time of the great food and the live music. With the history of Grossmont Center is the center court of the shopping mall that had many of the events with the tastes of Grossmont Center and the entrance of the new upcoming stores for the shopping mall. There were many stores that would have front area shopping that you could shop outside and pay inside the store. One of the best stores that was the most widely filled and the crowds would come on the weekends to get concert tickets and the new record releases they would have sales. Tower was one of the best and the store changed over to the Warehouse record's the place you could get new releases and the best in movies. The stores that had the best vales was the CVS store that you could go and buy snacks and get many items that would have cost you close to 34.00 and the bottom you would be spending 15.00$. For the many stores at Grossmont some of the stores had the High End and some that offered the many items at the sales prices with the store of the store that was favorited by many. Grossm0ont Center had many places that drew allot of people was the store called Woolworths the one place you could get many new items that were at 20.00 finding the sales prices below 10.00$. The one place that had continued Grossmont Center Days is the Food Court yet when the food court was changed the business went to the outside stores and restaurants. From the change of the movie theaters from the Closure of Pacific Theaters they had one of the of the oldest theaters that was the Cinema Grossmont which had 2000 seats now is a Chuze Fitness. The many malls that reside here in San Diego have some of the greatest and many of them have changed hands still they offer places to come and shop and have lunch at on the weekends the theaters shift to high gear. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer, the many malls which had some of the best history with the many that had movie premieres which sparked the crowds to the big movies and had a way of bringing life to the malls. After the many years the malls are changing there are some that like to be more the quieter malls and some that have changed for the better bringing in some of the top talented store and small convenience stores. I haven't visited this Center in a long time (Covid). Today I went to see A Quiet Place II and the mall was so clean and green. Many families were out an about enjoying the mall and all it had to offer. Some of the shops were closed or had not reopened but for the most part many of the shops were open. This is not a very big mall yet you can find plenty of restaurants BJ's, Red Lobster, Claim Jumpers, Olive Gardens and much more, resting places, fashion stores, department stores to spend hours out of your day. An unverified rumor has it that this entire shopping center will be torn down eventually and turned into (non)affordable housing in the not so distant future. I haven't researched this nor do I want to. I have endless memories of riding my bike up to the mall with friends in my youth. Sad. Borderline depressing for sure. It was the closest place to home that had numerous stores, including Montgomery Wards. Yes I'm that old.. Nowadays, it does have a uniqueness to it and still come here for the Target, Panera, Cost Plus, Olive Garden, Walmart and even BJ's now and then. Totally outdoor. There's also a Rubio's, Starbucks, and a movie theater that needs an upgrade for sure. Oh, and there's a Claim Jumper too! Haven't been in many years, I need to revisit. I do remember the huge portions. BevMo is nearby too, though now there's a new kid in town- Total Wine in Mission Valley. So coming less often now. There is a excellent cell repair place in the mall called Touch Tel Wireless- they have come through big for me on a couple occasions. Highly recommend them. I am familiar with Grossmont Center for a few reasons: - I volunteered at Sharp's Vaccination Super Station that was located here, and this is where I was vaccinated. - I attended an event at Hooley's Public House. Wasn't much there for me to eat but at least they serve Beyond Burgers. The draft beer selection was decent. - The food court has a surprising number of vegan options. El Veganito is a Mexican stand that is "100% plant-based". Mystical Blends is a "plant-based wellness bar" with juices, smoothies, salads, etc. Veg'n Out is an all-vegan burger and fries stand that also features chick'n and even a secret menu. Split Bakehouse is a vegan bakery that makes everything from scratch. Tasty Inn Express is a Chinese/Thai stand that seems to have a few vegan menu items. - Just looked at their website. They do have a few stores here that I frequent, namely CVS and Target. They also have a Barnes & Noble and a Bath & Body Works. - There's a post office here. It used to be better around the 2011 to 2018, super busy with so many shops including mom and pop's also franchises, imagine during Black Friday people would line up at Target, GameStop, JC Penny, etc waiting to get all kinds of door buster deals, the movie theater was also popping with people going in and out. The radio station picked the plaza to be their treasures hunt for Easter and doing Xmas tree lighting, it's been less and less now since Covid hit, still a lot of places stood still like Walmart, Panera Bread, Starbucks, Panda Express, Cold Stone, and many more. While you'll find some of your traditional chain retail stores here like Barnes and Nobles, Macys and Target, there are also a lot of small stores unique to this mall. Kind of random. There are a variety of different restaurant options, but overall I'd definitely go to Fashion Valley and even Mission Valley just further west down the 8 first. read more

The only reason I'm here is because my car is being serviced at Sedano Ford and it's the closest shopping nearest to it. It's sorta run down from what I can remember a lot of the storefronts windows were dirty. The mall people could at least winder them! A lot if stores have been replaced with consignments. A pretty good mall with lot of places to eat. They do not have same number or types of shops like before but they have enough to keep this place this occupied with plenty of food traffic. The two anchor stores are Walmart and Target. Macy's has a location here but I do not think I have set set foot inside. The theater is spacious and not expensive. It could use a little TLC. The popcorn is good and I like the retro feel of the lobby. The Cost Plus and Barnes n Nobles are probably the two stores I visit the most when I visit the mall. The Barnes and Nobles is one of the larger ones in San Diego. Cost Plus carries a lot of interesting home good items. The food court is ok. Its spacious, bright, and airy. Unlike other mall food courts, all the venues here are not part of a chain. The selection of places to eat is pretty large covering basic burgers to Mexican to Asian. read more

I've been coming here for decades. This mall has some flagship stores that I like to shop at like Macys, Target, & World Market. There are some food options as well like Hooley's Irish Pub, Olive Garden, Panera, plus all the food court options. There are some specialty stores here. There is a Gino's wide shoes, Restoration Hardware Outlet, Prevue bridal and special occasion dresses, Color Me Mine Ceramics store. They have a Barnes & Noble here as well. The stores provide great selection of what you need. The theater has value tickets and food combos and the staff is always friendly. I attended the event taste of Grossmont and encountered this problem while I was resting on a bench across from ATT store there was a family in the seating area in from of me they started to leave and their bag broke I believe there were candles inside and the glass broke on the ground as I sat there I saw a security guard pass by I stopped him and told him there was Glass broken there you should call maintenance to clean it up he looked at it shook his head and walked away as I sat there for another hour and a half nobody ever came to clean it up janitorial staff passed by and other security guards passed by but nobody stopped to clean up the glass I will include some photographs of the glass on the ground I could imagine your liability if a child got hurt on that glass as it laid there for hours and nobody cleaned it up. read more

I've only been to this mall a handful of times. My very first time was in high school and now decades later, I don't think it's changed much. The mall is pretty outdated. There aren't a lot of stores like the other big malls like Mission or Fashion Valley and it seems pretty empty every time I've been. I think the main places that keeps this mall relevant is the Target, Macy's, Walmart and Reading Theatre. There are a number of good restaurants on the outskirts of the actual mall, like BJ's, Casa de Pico, and Red Lobster but that's pretty much it, other than the mall food and chains like Starbuck's, Rubio's and Panda Express. Yes, there are things that can be improved at Grossmont Center, and it definitely has a small-time feel -- which i personally like -- but all in all it's saved my butt many times. I've been coming here since I was a kid. They have several staple stores: Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Macy's, CVS, Cost Plus, a post office and a dollar store, to name a few. I have to take a moment to give Grossmont Center EXTRA props because there are three 100-percent plant-based restaurants in the food court at the time of this posting -- Mexican, burgers and fries and ceviche -- and I heard two more are coming. Kudos, Grossmont Center! This is such an awesome offering and sure to be supported by vegans and non-vegans alike (if you're not vegan, I promise you, you won't be able to tell the difference. They're delicious.) Quite a few restaurants besides those -- Casa de Pico, BJs, Olive Garden, Starbucks, Jamba Juice and Rubios, to name a few. They also started a "public market" with several small businesses that incorporates lots of great items -- plants, clothes, food, jewelry, gifts -- and I love going in there and buying beautiful, unique items, knowing I'm supporting small business. Honestly, during these COVID times, I've enjoyed walking up and down the mall outside. It's nice to get fresh air, it's not too crowded and it allows for social distancing since it's an outdoor mall. I wish they had a few more offerings, like a Victoria's Secret or an Express, and maybe they can get creative during the pandemic and figure out a way to offer outdoor fitness or dance classes with all the open space they have, but all in all it's stood the test of time and continues to be a go-to for myself and so many East County folks. read more

This shopping center is alright. I have visited this often over the years because it is the closes one to me. The main department store is Macy's and I have only purchased a few items from there over the years. The mall is opened, so during winder months it is can get a little chilly and wet at times, but it is great during the spring and fall, and during the cooler months of summer. The mall has a theater, a modest food court, and more importantly a two story Target: my favorite store here, next to Famous Footwear and Barnes and Noble. The Barnes and Noble has a Starbucks adjacent to it, with in store access. Their is also a Fudruckers, Olive Garden, Hooley's, BJ's, Claim Jumper's, and Casa de Pico restaurants surrounding the mall. The mall has pretty good visible security crew, and once with my previous vehicle, I locked my keys in, and they came to the rescue. That was good.. read more

We are so lucky to have such a diverse food court nearby. This one is great. Instead of being filled with your typical fast food establishments like JB's, McD's, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc. we have India Express, Greek Gyros II, Dante's Italian, Maui Express Hawaiian, Villa's Mexican, Chang's Asian, the Candy Shop, and BFF Hamburgers and Fish. I've tried most of them and while I have my favorites, all are good. My personal favs are the Pulled Pork and rice at Maui, Greek style chicken at Greek Gyros, pasta dishes at Dantes,, hamburger patties at BFF, though their fish is surprisingly good too, the coffee at the candy shop ($1.50 for a 24 Oz cup!?), and EVERYTHING at the India Express. This has become sort of a default eating out place for my H and me. If we can't decide where to go for a light lunch or dinner, we come here, knowing we will both find something we like with all this variety to choose from. I don't think we have ever been disappointed. I've also noticed it is a popular place for not only for shoppers and individuals to eat at, but a lot of groups have gatherings here, including a knitting group I enjoy attending that meets here twice month. That's how I found out how good the coffee at the candy shop is. Also, kudos to them for hiring the developmentally disabled. They are as friendly and helpful as can be. read more

This review is actually for the farmer's market in the mall. I came here today and saw a farmer's market in the southeast parking lot area of the mall (closer to Wal-Mart and Claim Jumper). Not really impressive... looks like something they may have started recently. I come to this mall regularly and it's my first time seeing this farmer's market. Products available / vendors at this farmers market: hummus and pita chips (from Baba Foods), produce, fruit jams, kettle corn, rum cake, jam, flowers and other goods. There were no products or vendors that stood out. I thought about buying hummus, but I wasn't going home for hours so didn't think it'd be a good idea. The food truck (Gwynn's) looked good, but I had eaten earlier and wasn't hungry. Hopefully there will be more vendors soon. I'll check it out again next time. read more

This PREMISE of shopping businesses HAVING A LOT OF BIASES, against selected customers, within it. How else that that this tenant of Grossmont Center is only accepting a story/BIAS from what another customer, who chooses not to like me, is telling about me to this "Grossmont Center" tenant. As further time passes by, I come back on property of Grossmont Center for visiting a different tenant of Grossmont Center. Strange that some distance after I passed the originally trouble-making / BIAS tenant: I hear the sound of what be like a gold cart behind me. So I turn around as see of a small cart that resemble like such, with 2 'Security' of Grossmont Center closely riding behind me and staring at me as they have nothing else to do. Speaking of BIAS from the Grossmont Tenant earlier: These 2 "Security" of Grossmont Center" are of a different human race than I am, as they are a male/female of their same human race. I told them that if it was not for my 'face and hair color' they would not be following me, as I knew they were enjoying of doing their BIAS behavior AND GETTING PAID FOR DOING SUCH.
