We called for help and saw the help boat also turned around avoiding that place hence they know its an unsafe place. We had to leave the boat hours before due time and were even charged for the damage over the full rental charges. This was not only the worst service provided but felt real cheap too.

I had to use my own cleaning supplies, that should have been a tip off when staff said they didn't have any, but did decontaminate for corona virus, I was worried about the mold and dirt more than anything.

best cabins and view. me and my family have been going here for the last 15 years and nothing but…read moregood things have come out of it. they recently went under new management and changed the name to lake cumberland marina and the renovated the dock and marina. still miss the old marina but it was a much needed improvement. the cabins were remodeled this year 2021 and the updated the couch added a coffee maker which is a keurig so make sure you bring k cups and added a few more new kitchen appliances. the bathroom had a new shower head and a new curtain. the bedrooms are moved around and better beds. the only down side is that the new couch does not fold out into a fold out bed which is what my family heavily relied on before the renovation. it is still a nice couch dont get me wrong but it is one less bed for one or two less people. you can call the marina and ask for an air mattress which was a pretty good size. the beach is still the same with the old swings and playground but it is still a lot of fun. we always go with our other family and rent the double decker pontoon boats with the slides and they never fail to make my family happy. the boats did get new motors which is nice so at least you can go a little faster than before but not as fast. overall it is always a great stay at this marina.

The process of getting the boats went smoothly and the loading and unloading was decent when it wasn't crowded. Our biggest complaint was the condition of the boats that they are renting. The boats themselves are nice but they do not seem to be taken care of very well. I've attached pictures of the molded seats and the poor duct tape jobs to cover the gashes in the seats. Paying such a high price point for 2 days, we were expecting a cleaner boat. Would have also been nice to have an anchor included with the boat.

The girl running the front desk, who continuously struggled to coherently articulate words into sentences, who appeared to be abusing anti psychotics/depressants gave me an option between 3 different boats. I chose a white tritoon and told her I would be there in 10 minutes (we are staying at a house directly across from the marina). My friend drops me off at the marina less than 10 minutes later with the jet ski we also rented from them the day before. I get there and check in with the manager to check out my boat and he tells me they are all booked up and can't accommodate us. The manager offered us no accommodations and told me, "sorry you're out of luck." For whoever is reading this it is important to understand they run their reservations for their watercraft on a computer system. There is no possible way they honestly messed this up. They 100% gave our reservation away to another couple in front of me who was complaining about not having any inventory. After begging the manager to figure something out for us so we could salvage the weekend, Sugar Hollow Marina then told me they have another boat they are picking up soon and maybe we could grab that one when it got back. They took my number down and promised to call me. Hours go by with nothing. I call multiple times asking for an update and the airhead front desk attendant continued to sell me a dream that we were gonna get a boat. I call back for the 4th time and I ask since they overbooked me, I cancelled another boat on the lake and ate a $450 deposit so I could rent from them, and now I'm not getting a boat at all, could they do something at all for us. I get put on hold and then she hung up on me. Never called me back. I will never give these people business again. Has to be owned by private equity at this point. Customer service doesn't matter. Absolute disappointment. Figured I could have fun and escape the transactional sad society I'm used to in the big city. I was deeply wrong.... DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. We came on 4th of July and there was only 3 waitresses running the entire restaurant, we waited 3 hours on our food order just to find out they cancelled it 2 hours ago. Then they had to retake our order another 3 times to get it put in. 4. When the food finally came 4 hours later, the burgers came out raw, and was still missing half our order. 5. Then they tried to charge us for food we didn't even get. The management for this place really needs to do better. You'd think they would be more proactive about stocking liquors and assign more waitresses than usual for a holiday. And also if your entire restaurant out of ice should a manager go buy bags of ice to help the business do well on one of the busiest nights for a marina? I'm Baffled and what a shit show it was.

The pricing of adult beverages doesn't leave you wishing you had stopped in town, in fact some are cheaper than you can buy at the grocery! And entertainment???? July 4th fireworks last couple years has been pretty awesome! Every other weekend live music has been great (may be one who ended the night in Rocky Top with New York / New York but I don't see him back on the calendar! lol) And if you do have a cabin at Straight Creek and haven't ventured up to the Marina when they have an event, I hope you do! Great group of people are there! Moving on to staff...FIRST, let me say what they do is not contained inside the Marina store and the gas pumps. These employees take care of a heckuva lot more behind the scenes that what anyone cares to think of. Strong winds can come thru and break a line and a cabin gets loose, as a result a water line breaks free (sometimes unknown until cabin / boat owner arrives), oh and let's not forget (we've all been guilty) some forgot to arrange to have their tanks pumped and they call upon arrival wanting an immediate fix. The entire staff does everything they can do take care of all the requests we send in in a timely manner. Have there been hiccups? Suuuure, none of them are Gods but in moments when i've seen them stop to take a quick breather...I've seen them jump back up on to the next task. If you are looking for a new Marina home I hope people will give Straight Creek a look! I don't think you will be disappointed with what the Marina and its staff have to offer!
