if there was a choice for zero stars that is what I would pick! customer service was horrible with no returned calls and we were rented a piece of junk boat with a non working ladder and that wouldn't start again after we stopped in a cove to swim. when we tried to call and tell them they didn't answer the phone and thank God we had rented two boats so the second had to tow us back to the marina!!! Total neglect on their part for not answering the phone with boats out on the water in total downpour of a storm. also the week before we were to pick up our boats from them I left at least 5 voicemail messages for them with no reply until we got our VRBO owner to intervene. it seems that once they had our $ paid in advance, they thought they could ignore us. They did refund the $ for the pathetic boat we got and did not charge us any fuel charges for either boat, but in my mind that in no way made up for the pathetic customer service and the dangerous situation they put us in with no way to contact them!! I could go on and on, but will just say I would never in a million years rent from them again. read more

Waited over an hour and all we got was our drinks and even then only after the waitress jumped behind the bar and made them herself. After another half hour, we paid for the drinks and went home to make food. We never got our food at all. Only one star because I can't give it zero. read more

We rented a boat, gassed up the boat, parked in the lot, used the facilities, and ate a lunch here. Boat rental: super smooth process. Boat was exactly as advertised, clean, and comfortable. Upon gassing up for return, they pulled it around to the slip saving us the trouble. Refueling: they have long enough pumps to refill in any orientation against the dock. Staff were quick to provide pump service. Car parking lot: some concrete, some gravel, minimal shade, short walk across a concrete dock to the marina Facilities: bathrooms are tight, but I'm guessing that's so they could fit in two stalls instead of just one. Main door + curtains on stalls. No baby changer (no space). Lunch: We ate around 12:30, after breakfast was over (over at noon I think), menu was basic, but there were enough options - wings, tenders, sandwiches, pizzas, nachos, etc. Drink service was prompt and our water pitcher was refilled as needed. Our food came out and everything tasted just as described, no complaints! (But lets be honest, you come here for convenience, not the food, nothing to rave about) Dining area was as clean as you can expect from an open air atmosphere (a few stray gnats, but that can't be avoided). Biggest downside to the marina: No WiFi and no cell reception. (Download any maps you need before you head out for the day!) read more

Pulled up at around 6:10pm yesterday ... with a large group of 10 of us wanting to grab dinner... since we knew the restaurant didn't close until 8pm. As we pulled up and parked... the staff let us know they were closing up because it's been slow all day and they had already closed the kitchen. We asked if there's any way they could stay open since the business hours said they didn't close until 8pm. The lady went back to double check and said no they had already closed the kitchen and they were closing so they couldn't take us. Unfortunately this is bad for business to have certain business hours and then close early especially when there's a large group wanting to have dinner. We ended up going to a different restaurant... where the food was good and great service. Will know not to bother stopping by here next time. read more

we rented a boat here - 4 days straight. then, n our last day added a tube. we used the tube once and it deflated. we were an hour out from the marina. we returned it once we got back and they refused to refund us the price of the tube. read more

We were enjoying the evening with grandkids, daughter, and a friend going to this marina for supper...until we got kicked out for questioning the $13 differences of some items between the menu prices and the bill prices. Apparently, "Taco Thursday: $1 Tacos, Taco pizza, Taco Nachos, Taco salad" as stated at the bottom of the menu actually means only tacos are $1 and taco salad is $13.95, but they don't tell you this until you've eaten and they bring you your bill.  When you question it, the Owner and Manager come charging out, ready for a fight, and start yelling at you when you question it. We were told all we wanted was a freebie. They wouldn't listen to our concerns. Turned out to be a yelling match. Only thing they heard was when I said "false advertising"; evidently they've been this route before because immediately they started yelling they'll get their lawyers after us. They also hear me "FU".  They heard nothing else. We didn't give server a tip and manager screamed for the whole marina to hear how we're stiffing our server.  I think it's kind of hard to get kicked out of some place when you're in the process of leaving! There's approx. 20+/- other marinas on Norris Lake...Try one of those for dinner. read more

Arrived at lunch time on a Friday with a group of ten. Nobody around which was a red flag for sure. Started off with margaritas and some got theirs, some didn't. I was the one who didn't and after asking our server two times, I went to the bar myself and got it. 30 min later we got to order food. 1 hour later we got our cold food. Nasty! Server never came back and asked if we needed anything. Needless to say she got a very small tip. Don't waste your time stoping here. Your better off going in to town if you want good service or good food. I'll never get those two wasted hours back. It's a shame with all that potential of being on a busy lake (during a holiday even), that they can't get their act together. I'll never go back and I doubt they really care. read more

It's August, 2020 in Tennessee, which as a red state on the Covid-19 map, means I was the only person at the marina with a mask on. I paid for this at the bar. Not only was I probably charged double for a Miami Vice ($9), but it was VIRGIN, to boot. The nice folks at the bar probably laughed their unmasked heads off as I walked out. read more

Under new ownership, so we thought we'd give it another try. Came on a Monday afternoon, so there were only about 20-25 people in the restaurant/bar. Server arrived in about 5 minutes with a pitcher of water and several glasses. Nice touch. The 3 adults ordered a beer, and two mixed drinks which we waited over 15 minutes for even though we could clearly see the young bartender who was just sort of messing around behind the bar. The server eventually brought a warm beer and one of the drinks. After 10 minutes we asked for the third drink and was told he was "working " on it when we could see that he was not. The daiquiri finally arrived, warm, with no ice at all in it. We asked the server for a glass of ice and suggested she tell the bartender that was no way to mix a daiquiri. We did get a cold, albeit, a different brand then originally ordered. We did order food, which arrived in about 25 minutes. The food was hot and good. One other bright spot was the extremely nice young dock hand who assisted with our boat. We saw him moving about doing lots of tasks. We hope the new owners will hang around and mind the store a little bit more. The bar was particularly disappointing and we're not sure we'll hurry to go back. read more

We stopped by Sugar Hollow earlier in the day to get gas and a staff member proceeded to tell us there was karaoke that night. We went back for dinner, drinks and karaoke. Before we sat down I went up to a waitress and asked what is the seating situation and if we could have a server come to us. The girl said yes. So we sit down at a DIRTY table that they still haven't cleaned. Finally the busser comes over cleans off the table (after we had to ask). Then she proceeds to tells us there was no karaoke for the night because the computers have been down for 2 days? Then she tells us alcohol sales end in 40 minutes and that the kitchen was CLOSED. Still never got a server but the BUSSER had to give us all this information. Not only am I disappointed from the misinformation but disgusted by the lack of service from the workers. read more

Went here for breakfast/brunch yesterday so we could also attend their "Worship on the Water" service. Spent the morning praying for better service and food to come! First thing we were told was they only have one cook who showed up. Server came over 4 times to take our order and then check on what we had ordered to see if she remembered correctly and to tell us they were out of biscuits. Then someone came over and said people walked out after they ordered and there "was" a biscuit available now???? Then came back and asked what our order was again and when order finally came 45 mins later it was wrong. This place needs to get their act together!!! Especially if they are advertising a Sunday Worship service with breakfast!!! Church service was better than restaurant service and food! Copying this review over from "Sugar Hollow Dock." See other review(s) there as well. The restaurant at Sugar Hollow has serious ownership/management problems. We waited 1 hour before eventually being told that two cooks had walked out. As soon as that happened, a good manager would have come out, explained and apologized, and offered us a round of drinks and whatever simple meal they could (there's nothing else close by). Instead, the manager and another bartender sat behind the bar doing virtually nothing (they had maybe two customers at the bar) while the wait staff was apologetic and tried to do their best with about 40 people at 5 tables. But still, they also kept telling us it was getting done, would be 10 minutes, etc. The waitress at one point offered us free pork rinds, but they never came. When the food finally arrived, after 1.5 hours, the hamburger was burned and yet cold, and the chili cheese fries were almost inedible (the chili was just beans in some pasty red sauce). The quesadillas were pretty good (at least were hot), as were the "boneless chicken wings," which weren't wings but rather processed chicken balls. We asked the manager for 1/2 off and got that (as did another large table in the same situation), but she didn't really seem to think it was much of a problem. We were told that their cooks keep leaving when they get overwhelmed. The place was not that crowded; about half the tables were empty. The owner, we were told, had been there, but left. He seriously needs to get this place under control. Cut the menu in half to your 10 best items, organize your kitchen, and train your cooks to work under pressure. Also: be on hand. This is 4th of July week on busy Norris Lake, and Sugar Hollow restaurant is 100% unprepared. PS: Had we known about a 2 hour wait time for dinner, we would have just stayed on the lake, so we lost 2 hours of time on the boat we had rented. read more

Food was good. But service was honestly the worst I have ever experienced. First it took 30+ minutes for our waitress to bring drinks. Then another 30 minutes for her to take our order. Then 45 minutes to bring out the tacos on taco night. She apologized for the service after the first time then it continued and just got worse. Wouldn't come back here. read more

This place is not like the pictures, the theme is pirates. The kitchen staff practices safe food handling but other than that, this place is run down. The food menu needs updating, staff needs to step up the pace, needs to be renovated. If your looking to party, run-down building, slow service and poor quality expensive food is your gig, this is the place to be. read more
