That said, instead of trying something new, I went with one of my longtime favorites that's still on the menu. It used to be called "The Salad We Had at Gail's House," but now it's the Beacon Sirloin Salad--a leafy green salad topped with grilled sirloin, crumbled bleu cheese, red and green onions, walnuts, dried cranberries, and their homemade bleu cheese vinaigrette. We also ordered the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer along with some cheesy bread. The entire meal did not disappoint. Our server (I regret not catching his name) was especially outstanding this time. He highly recommended the Basque-style cheesecake for dessert, and we were even treated to it complimentary for my birthday. Our server took back my checkbook so that she could ring this in, and I was charged a dollar for the role. The menu still states that dinner rolls are available upon request, so this was disappointing. The salad should've been $20 for a full salad, as shrimp is the same price as the coconut chicken I substituted at four. I was charged $24 for the salad. Slight mistake mistakes like this are not the end of the world, but really do show the downhill direction. This restaurant has gone, unfortunately.
