I adore succulents because they thrive on neglect. They don't need much water and if they are in a nice sunny spot some of them will even reward you with flowers. They multiply like crazy and are easy to grow from cuttings. You can find them in many different shapes and colors. I was excited to finally visit Grow Something. They are only open on Wed, Sat and Sun from noon to 6pm. Don't bother knocking on the door just walk through the narrow alley way to the right of the white house with the black and white striped awning. In the back of the house there's a small greenhouse where you'll find most of the plants that are for sale. There are many varieties that you will not see anywhere else. A little pricey but if you are a collector, this is the perfect place for you. Their plants are healthy and well taken care of. Besides consulting services, they also design planters, hanging baskets, party favors and table center pieces. They will even repot or transplant your plant when it has outgrown its pot. If you have a question, ask away, staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Looking for a dealer for your succulent fix? Look no further! Grow Something has many many succulents for your needs. It's a little unconventional where the owners run their store out of the backyard of their home, but it's super cool! Thanks to all the Yelpers with their tips and reviews, I knew to just go straight to the backyard and marvel over their tiny little greenhouse. Inside are hundreds and hundreds of succulents in various sizes ranging from babies to big boys. I came here because I ordered from the site and went in for pick up; I wasn't sure if it would be fruitful if I dropped in. But I highly recommend visiting as you can see the plants in person and she said it's about 50 cents cheaper per plant than buying online. The only thing I would say is that it was hard to recognize a lot of the plants, especially if you don't know the species. I'm pretty knowledgeable about this topic, and because many of the plants aren't sun stressed to their full potential, they end up looking like each other a lot and I definitely had to ask quite a few times which plant was what. Before coming, I definitely recommend perusing the site and seeing which plants you'd like and then asking her to help you locate them as she knows best! I love supporting local businesses. So when I discovered this place on Yelp I was really excited to see what they had to offer. Nothing could have prepared me from the amazing selection they had! I could have easily spent hundreds of dollars and it took a lot of self control not to. Prices are cheaper than they would be in stores. Selection is amazing! I texted them on a Saturday before I dropped in. The location is in a quiet neighbourhood, upon looking at the front door there is a message that informs you to go through the alley way towards the backyard. The succulent and air plants are housed in a greenhouse that is in the backyard. I was amazed at the organization and variety in size and species. The amount of care they put into growing the plants is evident. Linh was patient, really helpful and answered all of my questions. I got two succulent plants in plastic pots for $3 each. read more

Grow Something was everything I was hoping for and more in a succulent store. The quality of the clippings and succulents that arrived was absolutely perfect. I am in the hospital, so being able to select my succulents online was an amazing privilege. I sent a family member with ID proof to pick them up and bring them to me! The clippings are all beautiful and much larger than I thought they would be! Having never ordered succulents before, I was expecting the clippings to be just a few leaves of a variety of succulents tossed together, but each clipping was a perfect size to plant properly. They were left with enough stem to plant them, and by removing the leaves that they kindly left on the bottoms of the clippings I was able to make a new little tray of propagated leaves, already with little buddings visible and roots searching around! The succulents that I ordered specifically from the pictures are almost exactly how they looked online, the difference only being natural variations in leaf placement and such. Everyone is 100% healthy and replanting has been so fun. I still have one more terrarium to plant! I would absolutely recommend this store. Service was amazing, the plants were ready right away and they were sure to ask for a lot of proof from my brother picking them up to make sure that they got to me. I haven't ever heard a bad review about this store. I spent way more money than I expected to, and I'm sure I will be doing the same thing again soon! I visited on the weekend during their drop-in hours of 12:00-6:00pm. I knocked on the front door and was promptly told to make my way to the back via the path on the side. Run out of a backyard, I was amazed at how many plants there were to choose from. They really make the most out of their yard space: air plants, sedum, and sempervivum plants along the fence toward the backyard; a greenhouse in the middle housing most of the plants for sale; and a mini garden of sorts behind the greenhouse that's kind of off-limits to customers where I think they nurture some larger not-for-sale plants for pleasure and pre-sale-size plants. The greenhouse has three layers of plants and the selection is really impressive. Visually, the plants look well taken care of and it's difficult to step inside and resist the urge to buy one of everything. I was impressed with how some plants were not for sale, i'm assuming, because they hadn't grown large enough as I was told they weren't ready for sale. While it'd be easy to make a quick buck, I appreciated the care in presenting the best version of the plants for sale. I picked up a few plugs at $2.75 each, baby toes (which I'd been struggling to find elsewhere), split rock, and a few other plants. For the variety they carry in a relatively small space, I was pleased with the prices, with the larger plants, I think, being a better deal considering how slowly succulents grow. They have a website, which is a great indicator of what they have to offer and prices. The owner is a graphic designer as well, which explains the sleek and modern aesthetic. While the location is a bit far for me, I would definitely recommend Grow Something for their great selection and prices. read more

I retired last year and fell in love with planting succulents. I found Grow Something on Yelp and went there (the second time today). I am very impressed by the passion of the owner and her willingness to share her knowledge. Her plants are nice and comparatively inexpensive. This place is amazing. I think it's a hidden gem in Toronto. It's a place to get all sorts of succulents for a reasonable price. I even got my first pilea plant from here.
