Heemans is my favorite garden centre in London! They offer a full nursery of perennials and annuals (in season), lots of pre-assembled planters and hanging baskets, indoor houseplants, a cute pond/display, soil & mulch, a winter tree sitting service, many diy workshops, cute garden decor, containers and other garden tools. They also have strawberries for sale when in season and pick your own in late June, early July. There's a coffee bar serving lots of unique warm beverages and a strawberry ice cream sundae to die for. There's a selection of alcoholic ciders, in-season fruit and veg from their own farm and other local farmers, jarred pickles, jams & honey. Seasonally they also have Fall porch packages, tons of Christmas merchandise including fresh wreaths and foliage, indoor faux trees and so many floral picks for your outdoor planters. Ok -- if it's not clear I go here A LOT! For the perennials and annuals specifically there is a great variety & I have been very impressed with the quality. Their prices are generally better than other specialty garden centres in the London area (though higher than, say, buying at a pop-up at the grocery store). My one complaint is that although recently expanded, their return policy is not as good as some garden centres. I believe the recent policy change on shrubs and other perennials allows to return a dead plant until October of the calendar year of purchase. So say you bought in May and it died in July you could return it. But some other centres allow for return for a full calendar year allowing for the possibility of it dying over the winter. Honestly the only time this becomes a concern for me is when I'm looking at purchasing trees or other items with prices upwards of $100. I love how this family run business is so innovative, quality-focused, and a beautiful space to wander. And did I mention they're dog friendly??? Can't wait until my next trip out! read more

I returned over the May long weekend and was still impressed with selection. I had asked for recommendations of plants that would thrive on my south west facing balcony and I focused on buying those. Most of them haven't yet bloomed, but when they do it will be a purdy sight. And even though it wasn't quite strawberry season, we could still partake in strawberry sundaes! Nomnomnom. It was our first time visiting Heeman's for the spring/summer and we continued to have an amazing experience. We moved into a new home in October so we didn't get a chance to really grow a garden last year. We are serious noobs when it comes to gardening. We went to Heeman's Spring Open House and picked out some herbs. We were so blown away by the variety they had to offer. From seasonings to vegetables, they had it all. We then went to pick out some rose bushes but weren't really sure what to do. That's when Megan came along and helped us out. She knew SO much about the different types, blooms, scents, colours, and care. Seriously, if she is around when you go, find her, she is wonderful. We picked out an awesome banana plant as well. They have lots of cool tropical plants which is fun to have on your deck to make a bit of a backyard oasis. We also learned a lot about the different type of Petunias. We almost bought the wrong ones and then decided to wait a few weeks because the weather isnt warm enough. Heeman's is such a great experience for the novice or the expert. With such a massive greenhouse with tons of variety, the employees are always so happy to help, you will never feel lost. read more

Beautiful greenhouse. Small produce stand in front with the daily offerings. Prices are about the same as the supermarkets for berries BUT the flavour is soooo good from the farm! You can actually TASTE the berry flavour! *My ONLY gripe is that one of the pints of raspberries I bought was loaded with mouldy berries. I wound up picking out at least 20 berries that were bad. Made me wonder when the berries were actually picked. That said, the other pint was perfect as were the blueberries and strawberries I purchased at the same time. Plenty of parking, great hours of operation. They also offer pick-your-own patches but call ahead to be sure it's available when you plan to go. read more
