We came a few days after the 24-48 hour blooming time, but we were still able to view the flower and take pictures. We came in on a Monday around 1pm. School is out for summer break, so there wasn't much going on at the campus. A few employees in the Science & Engineering building were super nice and gave us directions to get to the corpse flower. It's located in the basement, so once you enter the front of the building off the parking lot, you go down two flights of stairs to the basement. The viewing area is small, but they let you get pretty close to the flower. There was still a dead smell in the area where the flower was. They have a live web cam on their website so you can see what stage the flower is in and how busy the viewing area is. Overall, we enjoyed our visit here. Would recommend.

Got a 3.6 GPA my first term at UofO, and funnily enough, it was cheaper to attend despite my grants and scholarships for PNCA. Other places are better. PNCA is a good idea if you want to pretend you were held back and want to attend a disjointed summer school. Thats the vibes of this establishment. God awful. I'm sure it was once great before it was bought out by willamette but now? save yourself the money and poor GPA and just go somewhere else.

this school gave me no education. one of my required classes was a foraging class where we foraged…read morenatural plants to make into paint. i paid thousands of dollars for it and we only ever met in person every two weeks to basically bullshit about nothing. i learned nothing. another required class we had was to make costumes out of cardboard. thousands of dollars. on cardboard costumes. it felt like i was in pre-k most of the time. none of my actual drawing classes taught me anything, and when covid hit they let us take a 'Pass' in our classes if we didnt want to attend the online course. which means i basically paid to pass a class but not actually earn the grade. we also had to pay for facility fees, etc. even though we were online! theres a reason why the dropout rate is so high. there was an incident where a gun was fired from outside into the dorm windows, and students get assaulted often near the school. the school is in a horrible, horrible part of town. none of the professors stay for long. the acceptance rate is ridiculously high because of how high the dropout rate is, so most of the students (esp illustration) are....not high standard. financial aid doesnt give a fuck about helping you, and the department head never cared about helping me with my schedule or anything else. students and professors say slurs and nobody cares. the school advertises that theyll help you get jobs after you graduate but the job website was never updated and only had about 6 outdated postings. this school is my hellhole and im in so much debt and learned. absolutely. nothing. if you actually care about an art degree go somewhere else.

The training happened during the Covid and it was kind of nice in a way because we only have 4 students which gave us plenty of time one-on-one with instructor and asking question. I highly recommend the class to any one who interested to learn more about coffee making or opening a coffee shop. It's not as simple as it seem.

The business portion covers everything about starting a coffee house. It covers negotiating a lease, startup cost, employee management and training. There is much more involving stuff that is too long to list but they do give you a binder with all the info and a USB with their presentations and handouts. They also give you a book written by Bruce Milleto. The barista portion was 100% hands on and you learn by doing and doing and doing. They have over 10 commercial espresso machines and more than enough milk to practice latter art. They are very easy going with the equipment and are not anal at all. They are very user friendly. I had some knowledge on how to pull shots and steaming milk but they really opened my eyes and taught me knew information.They also teach you other methods of brewing coffee. The class is led by Josh and man he is such a cool ass dude. Very friendly and outgoing and patient. I can tell he really loves what he does. Great guy with a lot of soul. Matt Milleto who is the vice president is such a down to earth guy very easy going and mellow. They both gave good hospitality to the students and provided us with really good food as well. They are both very welcoming and make you feel at home from day one. The school is also very intimate and the classes stay small.

At first, everybody was very nice to me…read more But once i presented myself as a Zionist, many of the students, and even some of the staff members, changed their behaviour towards me, and a few did more than just that, and personally attacked me. The degree provided by the institute has a very limited recognition, and you probably will not be able to use it to enter higher education in any other respected academic institutes. I gave it a one star because (unless you are a Zionist), its courses are a nice morning nap if you plan a trip to portland.

I have so many great experiences of sitting with Arny and Amy and many colleagues from around the world. We would talk, share and think together of how to help make the world a better place. I graduated from the self guided diploma program and now use process work in my somatic work. This field of study has helped me to prevent burn out in my field as a physician. It has also helped with relationships and has enhanced my life in so many ways.

I had a difficult time calculating total cost with various fees, especially lab fees. Because the total cost isn't easily transparent, I did some deep research and came to the conclusion that the high lab cost would substantially increase the price of the program beyond the base cost. The admissions individual was very responsive until an email asking for verification if the cost based on my research was accurate because I would likely be priced out if so. Communication abruptly stopped at that point. This lack of follow through gives the college an unprofessional and a very "for profit" vibe. I also had concerns for the application of a PhD in integrative health, which I spoke to friends in the medical field about. Our discussions added to my hesitancy to spend a large chunk of time and money on an ambiguous degree. I may have considered getting a certificate here and was going to ask about it in a follow up but I guess they decided that I wasn't a big enough money maker to justify their time.

I've looked into current offerings and have been in touch with many recent grads as well. I also align strongly with Yelp intended ratings and 3 stars is literally an OK rating so I don't hand out 4's and 5's to just anyone. If I could give Epicodus a 3.5 I probably would because it is OK but not something I would say is really GOOD or for everyone. Here's the Cliff's notes version: Yes code school will get to into tech, no it will not make you a developer or super hireable. Epicodus offers an ok middle-range priced education with some support but you have to be a self-motivated person and understand that tech is not hiring Bootcamp grads like they did in 2015 so be prepared to do a lot of work on your studies and portfolio in order to get a job. The points below cover: 1. my background and scenario 2. curriculum 3. internship 4. jobs 5. $$ I had an education and career before tech but needed a shift. I did a lot of self-study for years and in the end, needed a space and people to hold me accountable and Epicodus did that for me. I couldn't afford to jump all in right away so I did the intro night course and while that was financially a good route I still recommend doing all the courses as the full-time day package if you can swing it. I saved for years to do it and you should know it is VERY difficult to work while in this program as it takes most hours of your life for 6 months. In school, the courses have since been rewritten and that is GOOD as they were still fairly rough 5 years into the company's history. Now if you're really self-driven you COULD do all of the coursework yourself as it's online but having pairing buddies and a class you go with daily IS a huge help to staying accountable AND more similar to most jobs you will be going into. Teachers are underpaid and often former students, that is fine but I think for what you are paying it's difficult not to have a better education from the top. The internship was the real seller for me but the reality is it's often a hit or miss if you get something worth your education and if you've already worked in offices or on teams this section is not as important to you. What tech really needs is folks who are both technical AND good with other humans so if you need to learn that and this is early in your journey the school setting and internship may be helpful to you. They try to bring speakers in to show you that there are many more directions in the industry than just to become a developer and in all honesty, I think this education makes you a perfect fit for Support roles in highly technical companies which gives you a foot in the door. We all have different skillsets and they focus very heavily on becoming a developer so coming out of school I had little knowledge of ALL the amazing roles you could go into from engineering to product management, support or people managers! You have to do a lot of that research and learning on your own, be proactive in your journey. Epicodus is a tough one financially, it's cheaper than a lot of the top tier schools but you don't get the small class numbers and more hands-on education as those higher-cost options yet it's more than the cheap ones where you do it all yourself. So if you just need some accountability and a team to learn with this could be a good option for you. If you're super self-motivated the cheaper options will get you the same education for less and no difference in your attractiveness to companies looking to hire you. Some side notes... the facilities are great, clean, large and lots of computers. I appreciate the space they have created for you to learn especially if you don't have the tech yourself. I'm very happy to see they have jumped on board with the pay assistance models as an option for under or unemployed students looking to make the shift. So in the end, yes Epicodus gave me a few tools to get a job in tech and I was lucky to get a great gig right off the bat but quickly learned I was unprepared for the role. This has led to a few shifts and some better fits but I am not your average bootcamper, I am high human skills and low tech skills. People management is likely where I fit best into the industry and that is the goal. I encourage you to do your research and assess what is best for you financially and educationally and pick whatever school fits your end goals.
