As usual, they practiced informed consent, validation of experiences, and love to a degree that I have never seen or even dreamed of previously in health care settings. The highlight of this birth experience was (of course) the birth itself. This time we were graced with three of the midwives through good fortune. Again, immediately after birth, our newborn struggled to take his first breaths. We waited about 8 minutes for him to take that first breath, and yet, my wife, daughter, son and I were all calm and felt immensely supported in that moment by the three women in our presence who absolutely knew what their calling was and what their roles were in that moment. It is hard to comprehend how different that experience could have felt from a sterile, medical, environment of a hospital, and how different our newborn's first few minutes, hours, and days after birth could have been. Not to mention how the perception and feelings surrounding births could have been malformed for our young son and daughter. We are so immensely thankful to have this collective of women in Sonoma County who are such a breath of fresh air!

The midwives are amazing; supportive, loving and really helpful. I had pregnancy insomnia and Tracy turned me onto a sleep tincture that she sells and it was like magic. I was finally able to sleep!!! The appointments were an hour long and the post partum appointments are at your home! We had trouble with breastfeeding and received so much support through text and having them come to our house. We cannot say enough good things about Thrive and Taya, Tracy, Morgan and Hannah.

I had major wrist problem and the University of Stanford Orthopedic group said they would have to operate on me. I was too scared to have an operation so I found Heather. After a week of herbs and acupuncture I was able to use my wrist again and in about month I was 99% better. I know that sound too amazing to be true, and I would think the same thing before when people told me how Chinese Medicine cured them of this or that, but my fear of surgery made me try and I'm so glad I did. And if you just want to feel good her stress treatments are amazing. I would be on cloud 9 for days. I know everyone has some stress in their lives so I highly recommend it. I found this group during a long painful night of feeding my second and thought I'd give it a shot. That was about a month ago. We are now feeding better and getting better on our latching. Not only do you get FREE lactation help (one on one and group setting ) you also are surrounded mom's who are seeking the same support. The Cafe is not a hospital environment, it is cozy and welcoming. Because of the Cafe and the support we receive there, I feel more confident that my son and I will reach our one year breastfeeding goal. The whole Breastfeeding Cafe team are wonderful people, here to support you in any way they possibly can. I am truly blessed to have found them!

My daughter's language has grown exponentially since we began seeing Katie in August 2025. Her office is centrally located & so welcoming. My daughter loves running into the door and playing in the waiting area. She even tries to enter the main door before our appointment time because she is just so excited for her session to begin! Katie always decorates for holidays & her office is such a peaceful & cheerful environment. There's also plenty of parking so it's super easy to get in and out of your appointment. My daughter had a significant speech delay, but since starting weekly therapy at Discovery Speech, we have stopped counting how many words she has at her disposal, we are fully into phrases & sentences! The mental load of having a child who has a speech delay can be very heavy and the overall feeling is that of constant worry. The part that I have loved the most about our time with Katie is that she listens intentionally to your concerns. She is a consumate professional who has so many professional connections in the area & is happy to get you introduced to them. That has been SO helpful for us as we are military family who is not originally from Sonoma County. She realized that my daughter was a strong candidate for physical therapy even after the physical therapist evaluation did not approve her. We got re-tested and my daughter was in fact, a candidate for physical therapy. I was so happy to have her as an advocate for my daughter. I didn't realize they could re-test/ you could have a second opinion. I really cannot say enough wonderful things about Discovery Speech! I cried a lot so I'm sure some of my words were muddled! In just two sessions she created a safe space for me to talk about emotional issues I didn't even know I had. She encouraged me to carve out time in my day to feel whatever it is I needed to feel. I routinely shove my emotions down because I don't feel I have time for a breakdown. I tend to over-analyze everything and always want an answer. I will get frustrated and upset with myself if I can't find the source of whats making me so upset. Lisa told me it's okay to not know sometimes, you just need to allow yourself to feel. A simple lesson I suppose, but one I'm still learning.
