I tried another acupuncturist which also had a lot of 5 stars here at Yelp.

Luckily I've been to four ( or maybe five) symposiums over the years starting in 2009 and I am a…read morewomen's festival aficionado so I will point out several things I really enjoyed and that were notable or much different than other women's festivals or herbal gatherings I've been to. 1. The food was exquisite, healthy and very well prepared and there were always excellent teas available throughout the day. I love it when the costs of food are included in ticket prices but often this means the food is less than stellar and not the case here at all. 2. There were so many workshops and things to do that I felt it was well worth the ticket price and I didn't have any time where I was bored or felt I didn't have anything worth while to attend. There were workshops that were appropriate for a practicing clinical herbalist AND for women completely new to herbalism. That was helpful for me bc one of the times I brought my girlfriend who was not an herbalist and not even particularly interested in herbs. She really enjoyed Stargazing workshop with Stargazer Li and also some of the more Goddess/ magic oriented things while I went to learn more about Gua Sha lymphatic massage. 3. Very walkable. I don't mean this from a disability access perspective (I don't remember how even/ uneven the ground was) just that the area the symposium and workshops are relatively small so you don't need to catch a shuttle or tractor to where you are headed or plan far ahead how to make it somewhere on time. There's certainly enough space but it's not too big to traverse. 4. Really enjoyed the marketplace (not sure if that's the term they use but basically attendees and everyone have opportunity to buy and sell from each other in a very cool format restricted to a few hours on a certain day) there is also a raffle. So many awesome herbalists and really cool crafts women make things I've never seen anywhere else. I didn't have money left over after ticket price but I did bring stuff to trade and sell and I got some exceptionally cool stuff. 5. Things To consider : there was a higher percentage of children than I am used to at most festivals. I love kids but I was trying to relax and very glad I chose to bring a tent and camp way farther than main areas so I could enjoy my time away and spend time with my girlfriend alone in our tent. I have a bias about this bc I go to a lot of lesbian gatherings and there are many fewer kids. I don't have a lot of straight women in my life so I was also concerned I would feel weird but that didn't come up, in northern California most people are very accepting of queer folks and there were lots of queer women attending. 6. The area is very beautiful and it was a nice drive up from the Bay Area to attend. If you don't drive lots of women post rideshares as well. I recommend going to their website and looking at pictures from past gatherings.

I LOVED every class and workshop I sat in on, Stargazer Leigh was an anchor for me on that stay, she taught wood carving, flower essences and led a star gazing talk every night. I camped in my car and felt safe and comfortable. The food, again, was so incredibly nourishing and there was so much mindfulness around everything. I did a work trade and it allowed me to feel even more connected to the land and the women there. I did not bring my kids but I was so inspired by all the children there with their mothers. The ceremonies were such a beautiful thread for us all to connect. Grateful for this event and looking forward to the next

Within a few months of seeing her, I was pregnant and my beautiful son is now almost 2 years old. Instead of taking hormones to get pregnant the way many women in their late thirties/early forties are encouraged to do, I took Laurel at her word: The first day I arrived for an appointment, Laurel advised me to stop trying for a few months while she worked to get my body "ready." It was hard for me to surrender and trust her wisdom because in my fear-based psychology, each month was chipping away at my egg supply and ultimate prospects for having a child. Pausing in my quest to get pregnant was akin to giving up, but Laurel helped me see that my relentless attempts were futile without the balance she could help me achieve. In spite of my misgivings, I followed her advice, took the herbs she recommended, and received weekly acupuncture treatments from her for three months. After the three months were up, Laurel told me it was time, and lo and behold, I got pregnant as soon as she gave me the green light to try again. I believe she is gifted and highly intuitive in her practice. I still go to her every month even though I am not trying to have another baby. I go because she is immensely skilled at the art of healing, and she has been a nurturing presence in my life for three years now. The acupuncture treatments Laurel gives me are often the most restful, peaceful part of my month, and I can count on her to assess my well-being and adjust her treatment to combat the ailments that plague me in any given month, such as headaches, stress, or a lack of vitality. Mostly, though, I go for the same reason people go to a spa, to reach deep relaxation. It doesn't hurt that her office and attendant cabins are ensconced in what feels like an almost mystical clearing surrounded by trees and flowers and great natural beauty.

She has a massage therapist named Carol who works with her who is really good - very astute and with a sense of humor and an excellent listener. Lots of experience and good will. I like both of them. Such good hearts. Besides acupuncture Jodie is really good with herbal remedies and knows alot about Western medicine. Alot of acupuncturists just want to stick needles in and are uncomfortable discussing the herbal part or your other overall health care needs. She knew enough to help guide me through other issues. She is confident enough to come up with herbal remedies or other ideas other than just needles. She is not pushy about it. If you want just an herbal remedy I am sure she would do a consult for that and you can buy them there or order elsewhere maybe. She is willing to interface with MD's and other health care professionals which is plus! Another thing: She also does facial acupuncture which is still on my to do list! So scary to tell you all about her I don't want her to be too busy for me! She actually has been asked to tutor in her field because of her knowledge and experience. She also has helped teens and parents. I feel empowered every time I talk to her. =-)
