Very good roofers. Hire these guys. Licensed and insured. Thorough written contract specifying materials and costs. Additional hourly/material rates for extra repairs listed so we had no surprises. No high pressure sales tactics. Very tidy Cleaned up at the end of each day with a magnet and blower so our dog could go into the back yard. Only opened up the section of roof that could be worked on that day, then made sure that the membrane covered the roof so the rain could not get in. Repaired multiple issues with our roof, plus added flashing which the previous roofers had skipped. Kept us informed of the running total (we had a multiple building project.) When a gutter was damaged by the delivery truck, Gruwell took charge and hired a gutter repair/replacement company at their own expense. Removed every last speck of debris. Could not be more pleased with my new roof. The guys did an excellent job and took their time repairing a slope in the roof, repairing rater tails and rotted spots and other structural repairs. The Malarkey shingles look like they will last decades. Laid the whole structure with plywood, which it didn't have before due to the previous shake roof, which the previous roofer never informed me about. Crew always showed up on time, took care around the landscaping and thoroughly cleaned up after the job was done. Matt was wonderful to work with and explained what was needed to get my roof back in repair wonderfully. My new roof looks amazing! I knew the old one was overdue for replacement when I purchased my home as it was the original roof and was over 20 years old. I got bids from 5 companies and chose Gruwell for several reasons: they did a nice job on my next door neighbor's house and came highly recommended; they were one of maybe two companies in town to use Malarkey Vista rubberized asphalt shingles (they actually help clean the air of pollutants); they substantially underbid 2 other companies; Matt Gruwell was no pressure when he came to do his bid and I didn't feel like I was talking to a used car dealer. I could tell Matt wasn't pushing a hard sales tactic and line of BS. I did have two other companies bid a slight bit less and one was able to come out very quickly but I wasn't in a big rush. I actually wanted to wait a couple months so a busy summer schedule on their part was great with me. It was well worth it to me to pay a little bit more to get a much better and longer paying shingle. The other companies were all using EKO shingles. I'm sure those are great too as they have different levels of quality (good, better, beat) but the rubberized asphalt that cleans pollutants was a big seller for me. Malarkey's website explains in better detail. My project for a 2 story 1800 sq ft house took 2.5 days and was quick and efficient. They left everything very clean and none of my plants were damaged. The roof looks sooo much better. I can immediately see what a better quality these shingles are than the original, cheap version the builders choose to install. I can see the increased thickness and the colors are rich (I chose black) and stand out nicely with my forest green house. I highly recommend Gruwell if it's important to you to have an efficient project; friendly, responsive, no pressure project manager/owner; and eco-friendly materials like Malarkey. read more

I had a roof leak, they came and fixed it two hours later. Two years later they installed a new roof, quickly and professionally. Ten years later I had a leak thru a bathroom vent. We got a very competitive bid from Gruwell (out of a total of 5 bids). Had to wait a bit for them to get to us (bad weather, mostly). But once they arrived, things moved very smoothly. They were very thorough and took care of a few problem areas we'd had with the previous roof. We also had them install a new skylight in a bedroom and had three others replaced. I cannot say enough good things about Gruwell Roofing & Restoration. They performed two jobs for us, and the results far exceeded expectation. The first was the patching of a leaky roof of my former house during the rainy season, and the second was the complete replacement of the roof on my new house. In both cases, they were punctual, professional, and delivered the result within the promised time frame and estimate. In the case of my new home, they suggested that the old roof lathing be replaced with plywood, and they installed it in an extremely timely and cost effective manner. Further, I was traveling for work during the roof replacement so I did not see the work. But, when I came home, the new roof was beautiful, and there was no trace that workmen had ever been on the property.
