First let me say that I gave this job to Gabriel because he seemed to be ambitious and pursued the work. Others I had come in to give me a bid didn't really seem interested, and their work was very costly in comparison. I'm not prone to choosing the least expensive, I can usually get a feel from the person and discussing the work with them as to what kind of job will be done. The work was moss removal from the north side of my roof, window washing, and gutter cleaning. I never met with Gabriel in person. He had me send photos of the work I wanted done, and then gave me a bid. That was my first mistake. What followed was scheduling the work, which was to be done on a Sunday. When the day came, I had no pre-work contact the day before and then received a text that morning at 8:38 letting me know that his employee called out. Gabriel was going to try and find someone, if not would have to reschedule. Got another text at 11:48 to reschedule. Did so for the following Saturday. Saturday came, again no contact day before just to confirm, and received a text at 9:31 stating had to make a "pitstop" and would be on "our" way. Showed up maybe half an hour or so later without employee. Was informed he would proceed without the other person. First did the moss removal, which all the debris ended up on my back concrete area. When Gabriel was finished, he proceeded to use a blower to blow the debris away, and it was being put on my lawn and freshly bark mulch covered areas. I happened to see this and went out and told him I would prefer he didn't do that. So he proceeded to brush it off with the brush he used on the roof and clean up. He later said it was "protocol" to do it the way he was but understood why I wouldn't want it done that way. Gabriel then proceeded the clean the gutters and wash windows. He stated earlier that he would send me photos of the roof and gutters to show before and after since I couldn't really see from the ground. I was on a phone call for most of the time Gabriel was working on the gutters and windows so wasn't really sure what kind of job was being done. I've had a number of workers come to my house and never felt that I needed to supervise. But in this case, I guess I made another mistake. When Gabriel finished, he tapped on the back door and let me know and said that he had sent the invoice for payment to my email. I told him I would pay him right away not using the options he had provided in the email. He said he would tap on the door again after he finished up. The back concrete area was still somewhat dirty, but I figured the coming rain would wash it away. I was still on my phone call when Gabriel tapped on the front door to get payment. So I paid him. He chatted a few minutes with me, and gave me his card and was on his way. Again, didn't really think I would have to be out supervising his work. Come to find out later, it was another mistake on my part. Shortly after Gabriel left, I received the photos of the roof and gutters. There were only two gutter photos from the back of the house where the debris from the roof had settled. I kept thinking about it, and something was bothering me about only receiving two gutter pictures. It was already dark, but first thing this morning, I got on a ladder (which I really don't want to be doing anymore) and looked at the front gutters. They were all still full of debris. I then looked at the windows, and he only washed the ones that didn't have screens on them. Overall my experience with Gabriel was VERY disappointing. I realize things weren't great after his employee skipped out on him again, but I shouldn't have to be the one to suffer for it. I gave this young guy a chance because it seemed he was a go-getter, but in hindsight, I made the wrong decision. I guess the old saying came true for me, "You get what your pay for." I also considered his reviews when making my decision to have him do the work. I'm glad he has done such a great job for others, but for me, it was a HUGE miss. New info as of 11/18 - After Gabriel's offer to come back and finish the work he didn't do, I thought for a while on it and decided I would just prefer a refund for the incomplete part of the job, which I calculated at $81. His message back to me was about the no refund clause and then he stated, "I'm willing to compromise on refunding you if you're willing to take down the Yelp review and promise not to leave any other harsh reviews. If not we can find time for me to come back and resolve these issues." He originally offered this Saturday but is now booked and not sure when he can make it. I have added some photos of the roof which was supposed to have moss removed, the sludge that is in the gutters that he didn't bother to clean, and the moss he blew onto the lawn, which he cleaned by blowing it into the small trench between the lawn and the concrete. read more

I needed a very steep, mossy roof with skylights to be cleaned this year. Earlier this year I had a similar size house with a steep and mossy roof cleaned by another company. I had received a cancellation notice from my insurance company if I didn't get the work done, and was under serious time pressure. That company (not Good As New) charged me a LOT. I was in a bind and had to accept it at the time. So when I contacted Gabriel about this other roof (which was even steeper than the previous one and and also had moss and skylights) I was dreading sticker shock. I was amazed when his bid came in at half of the other roof cleaner. (I also felt a bit sore about that last one because I was charged more considering my situation. But this all ends well.) Gabriel was so honest and transparent with me. I'm a female landlord and accustomed to handymen talking down to me- Gabriel is refreshingly respectful and straightforward. I asked for a copy of his liability policy declarations and he provided it. And he did a great job for us. The roof and gutters look so nice now. Once he finished that house and I saw the results, I had him bid my family's other rental properties. I never want to be in that insurance pinch again! Gabriel has now finished five of our rentals which included a two story duplex and a full two story triplex. He ropes off and is very careful, which I really appreciate. I have a few more rentals that still require cleaning, and I sure hope he has time for me after I post this review! Having his help to get my family's rentals' roofs and gutters clean and presentable has been an immeasurable convenience and for me as a property manager.
