I've been coming to GTC Merchants Walk Cinemas for years, and it continues to impress me every single time. In fact, my manager has even hosted a couple of client appreciation parties here, and we've never once had an issue. When I say never, I mean they even beat out Studio Movie Grill in both pricing and service. The seats are an absolute treat--super comfortable and honestly a pleasant surprise on my most recent visit. My dad came with me that time and absolutely loved it. Their variety of alcoholic beverages is another big plus and makes the experience even better. Between the clean seats, quality screens, and the friendly atmosphere, this theater checks all the boxes. Went to watch Project Hail Mary with my mother and my medically required and task trained service dog. We don't live in the area as we are on vacation. We get there and ask about the handicapped/ADA accessible seating as we were told by friends in the area that the seating in the theater wouldn't accommodate my service dog unless we sat in the handicap accessible seating. I asked since the seats were full that if the people in them were not actually in need of the seats that if they would move them. They said they would not even though on their website it states that if someone purchases the wheelchair accessible seating (which we were planning on doing) that they would move the people not using the seat. If you are disabled and utilize a service dog and god forbid need anything I wouldn't recommend this theater in the slightest. As someone who is visiting here and had friends rave about this theater this is pretty disgusting and disappointing. read more

The first challenge with this theater was finding it. You basically have to enter this huge shopping plaza, drive to the back corner, pass beyond the plaza into a secondary plaza dedicated to just the theater. It's like they ran out of room initially when building the plaza, or the theater was a late add. It was just an odd arrangement. We paid for our movie (the front ticket counter just has a sign that directs you to the concession stand to buy tickets). We were directed to our theater and found our seats. I assume all the auditoriums here have the recliner seating; ours did. The only oddity there was the controls. Most of this type that I've used have a single toggle to extend / retract the recliner. This one had two separate button sets. The first one allowed you to recline about half way. Then you had to operate the 2nd one to make it fully recline. In fact, I think I could have reclined practically to lying down, but I was afraid that I'd fall asleep. It was fine once I understood how it worked. I noticed a lot of noise from the adjoining auditorium's sound system before the show started (it may have been Dune Part 2) but I didn't hear it once our show started. Also, the heating / air circulation system seemed a bit loud - especially before the show. I don't think it interfered with the film, though. We were here due to it being about the only place to catch a particular film before it left theaters, plus we happened to be nearby; the area is not at all close to where we live, though. If I did live closer, I would consider seeing more films here, but unless there is some special circumstance, I'm unlikely to drive there for a film that is in wide circulation. read more

Visit date: 11/27/22 Excellent theater! We had never been here before, but it was hard to find a theater playing the film "Glass Onion" the weekend of Thanksgiving. In other reviews folks mentioned the employees being great, and that is certainly the case. Friendly & personable staff to say the least. Prices are in line with other theaters that have similar features - like recliners and adult beverage (FYI - $6 for a 16oz draft beer, totally reasonable). They don't serve meals, and there is not food/drink service to your seat. But that was fine for us, we grabbed snacks and drinks on our way in. I have to say that the popcorn was pretty delicious, extremely fresh, versus other theaters that I visited this year. One additional note - other Yelpers were spot on with the cleanliness. The restroom was probably the cleanest I've ever seen. This might be our new movie theater, do not hesitate to give it a shot. read more

This was our first movie date in 3 plus years. As Indian Jones fans, we wanted to see the new movie on the big screen. The majority of the experience was great: young persons behind the counter-polite and helpful; Assigned seats in fancy chairs- very comfortable; Cleanliness of theatre and bathrooms- spotless; Interaction with the manager of the theatre- so negative that we won't go back EVER. After ordering popcorn, you slide down the counter and add seasoning and butter yourself. In executing that part of the popcorn bag, the liquid came out of the spout at an odd angle and drenched the side of the bag. My partner when up to the counter and spoke to the manager and asked for another bag to dump the popcorn into in order to avoid a slippery, messy bag. He was short and grouchy in demanding the why of a new bag. He handed her a bag and she moved towards the trash can to dump the popcorn into the new bag. I held it open and she dumped it in. We tossed the bag in the trash and walked towards the usher to hand over the tickets. This is where things turned from helpful to just jerk behavior. The employee who handed out the new bag watched the entire effort on our part to be tidy. As we walked away, he yelled out "I need that bag back" AFTER it went into the trash can. Again, he watched the entire transaction. What a jerk move- he could have mentioned that when the bag was given. Let me just share that sticking one's arm in a deep trash can is not an enjoyable endeavor. Customer service completely missing from the most senior employee. Apparently, his desire to be the powerful person in charge is the leadership he demonstrates to other employees. read more

It is such garbage that is too extreme for Tucker Carlson, FoxNews and NewsMax. They made a decision to play, I don't even know what you call it a "faux doc, so I will make a decision to never go back and support them again. I was just going see a horror movie rated R last week and I was asked for an ID. Why? Oh, only because the theater thinks I will be traumatized if I am not of age to see a movie. My friends and I were very abruptly shocked by the fact we couldn't see our movie. To ID teenage girls who make most of the revenue to your theater is just upsetting for you. As a sixteen year old girl I am perfectly capable of seeing a rated R movie. My parents both gave me permission to see it, what is the difference of making them watch it with me? Let me tell you, absolutely nothing. Let me just say I am very concerned for this theater and it's future. This hasn't been an issue in the past I don't know why it is now occurring. read more

The beautiful music of Philip Glass was ruined by this theater's sound system that broadcast loud static throughout the Met's live broadcast of the opera Akhenaten. The theater management initially denied they were the source of the problem and insisted it was being broadcast this way. They said there was nothing they could do. I spent 15 minutes getting through to the Met's tech managers. They canvassed other theaters and said that this theater was the only one experiencing issues. Theater management finally admitted the problem was with them and they're trying to fix it. read more

Ten years ago, this used to be the place to go. It was always crowded, sometimes even on week nights, and even though it is hidden far from the road (I can't imagine how people who've never been before find it, because it's basically behind the shopping center) people lined up to come see new movies here. Now it's essentially become a crater where locals roll in every now and then to see movies in the absence of a crowd. You definitely get an I'm-back-in-1994 type vibe from the arcade games in the lobby and the dark carpet, the short hallways that lead to their handful of viewing rooms. The theaters themselves are also straight from early 90's. Like a prototype for what the stadium seating behemoths would become, though set back then on a budget, and now just not really that big. Still, a dark room for seeing a movie doesn't require a whole lot, and this place is quieter than most, so maybe it's worth its weight. read more

Solid movie theater which has had upgrades recently. Came here to see a movie with the kids and noticed that their seating now allows you to lean back and move the footrest up and down. Nothing spectacular about the theatre, pretty average if you ask me. As usual a lot of young kids watching the new movies. Thankfully we were watching a movie none of them wanted to see. They did have ticket machines in the lobby, so we didn't have to wait in long lines, that was a plus. Other than that an average experience in an average place. This place is nice and clean but unfortunately very poor customer service. We had tickets to a late night showing and as we go up to the concessions we ask to order a pizza, the kid gives us a look and says the ovens not working, I then as for nachos and he said they don't have any, I then as for a pretzel and he stated "we can't do those either" , basically all they had was popcorn and drinks . We then proceeded to the bar to order an alcoholic beverage and complained to the bartender about the lack of food. He's response was "they can make nachos and pretzels... they get them from the back , we have lots of newbies up at the front that don't want to work". So basically they were lazy and lied to us about being able to order hot food for our movies, really bad management that they are able to get away with this and because late night movie goers to the short end of a stick on their experience . After we complained before our movie with only our drinks then customers proceeded to come into the theater as well with us with hot food in hand further proving that we have been lied to, would never come back to this establishment nor recommend. 9/4/19- Matt S. This was my first time visiting GTC, the staff was rude. They saw me come to the register and proceeded to finish their conversation. Then looked over at me like what do you want. I asked about the special popcorn and drink deal for members on Tuesdays they told me it's $10 online it's advertised as $3 but I didn't argue bc inflation. upon entering my phone number they told me I wasn't a member. I advised that I definitely was bc I signed up this morning, then they said oh it takes 24 hours and didn't give me the promo. Then when I came back to order a drink for my daughter I was given the same drink at a different price this time it was $5.00 instead of $7.50. Also as I was walking up I overheard them say "negra man" not sure if they were talking about a customer but it's definitely not something a customer especially an African American wants to hear before interacting w/a store employee. GTC Merchants Walk Cinema is a smaller movie theater that is rarely really busy, perhaps because of its almost secret entrance that reminds me of Batman's entrance to his bat cave. But the less busy and crowded a place is, the more comfortable I feel there, So the small crowd of people that usually gather there is very nice. Not to mention, no one really wants to go to a crowded movie theater, because typically when a movie theater is crowded in a suburban area like this, it means that there are a lot of high school kids there hanging out in the parking lot or in the actual cinema itself. But I think that all of the movie theater staff, with the assistance of the wonderful Cobb County Police, have run off all of the young whipper snappers so that the tame older people like myself can come watch a movie in peace and quiet. read more

Holy Renovation Batman! This place looks and even smells great. It is an older theater and had some of the older theatre issues. BUT NOT ANYMORE! They are all fancy now. Huge concession area, bigger bathrooms, all stadium seating (I think) and digital 3D available. Wish it had better matinee pricing but it is competitive with other theaters. This is the second time I've been to this theater. Both times were positive experiences. The theater is older, but it is clean and in good repair. The seats are comfortable, the sound is good, and the movie quality is top notch. I didn't give it 5 stars because the matinee prices are high and it is fairly difficult to find hidden behind a large shopping center. But overall I recommend it - we will be back! read more

I too, grew up in East Cobb, and spent the Eighties going to this theater. Once, long, long, ago, you could see it from the street, then someone got the brilliant idea to build a shopping mall in front of it, obscuring it from those who don't know any better. So, now, I am sure there are plenty of newbies to the area who get a tad bit frustrated trying to figure out where the darn place is, but I really like this theater. They play decent movies and it is so peaceful now that the kiddies have relocated to the newer theaters a few miles away. It isn't state-of-the-art, but it's a good place for crotchety grown-ups like me (woah- did I just call myself a grown-up? I'm getting old!!) who cannot stand giggly teenage girls in skimpy clothes flirting with boys who have cooler cell phones than me. read more

Since this is the closest cinema by me in Marietta (besides the 1.75 one), I've come to accept it for what it is...a functional no thrills no frills type theater. There'll be no coke freestyle machine or video games here, but you'll get a short wait to buy your ticket outside and at the concession stand you'll get OK service and hopefully not overly salted popcorn. As I'd had a run in with a ridiculously salty batch of popcorn here before, the next time I went I asked could I try the popcorn... I took 1 bite and oh baby was it salty as hell. So I asked for some that was lightly salted... (That stuff could've killed an elephant.) But they were very nice and in a few short minutes I had popcorn that was pretty much not salted at all, but that was better than I see spots... is my heart stopping... overly salted popcorn. Anyway all the theaters are decent sizes, even the smaller screen rooms. Sound is decent, but you may hear the movie next to yours if it's some loud action flick. The seats are okay, they definitely don't recline, but they're plump with plenty of leg room and a cupholder everywhere. Usually parking isn't a hassle here... But if school is out... and it's close to a holiday... and they're showing one of the most popular sequels around... then expect parking issues on the weekend. But seeing as how there's an entire shopping center right in front of the theater, problem solved, just dont be a lazy ass and not want to walk... So, I've have no bad experiences here. I like this place and it can definitely be a get away in the middle of the day during the week when no one else is in the movies with you. But truly, as I enjoy going to the movies alot, I'm a fan of this place indeed. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My daughter and I went to see A Wrinkle in Time this afternoon. We never go to the movies because it's overpriced but I wanted to have a fun afternoon with my daughter to celebrate her good report card. We were the only people in the theater other than a woman who brought her young child and an infant. The baby cried off and on for over an hour. I finally got up and went to alert someone who works in the theater. I apologized and said I realize it's awkward but the noise is ruining the movie. They apologized and said they'd take care of it. They proceeded to completely mishandle the situation. They sent someone in right behind me who then stood right next to the lady. Finally she got up and very loudly asked if there was a problem. The GTC employee told her that we complained about her baby. Seriously? She then started yelling and said to me "B**** I PAID MY MONEY TOO!" And "The baby is sleeping now so." The GTC employee then walked out. He did absolutely nothing to handle the situation and allowed her to stay in spite of the verbal harassment and noise. He put me and my daughter in an unsafe situation with someone who is mentally unhinged. She continued huffing and puffing and calling me a b**** after he left. We were stuck in the movie theater with this person who was raging and unpredictable. When we left the theater she was waiting for us in the lobby- to do what? I'm not sure. I asked to speak to the manager. I was met with an extremely rude, hostile, argumentative incompetent person named Matt Schoeb. He wouldn't listen when I was telling him what happened. He cut me off over and over and wanted me to leave. He told me the lady was calling the police on me because I was videoing her. Of course I'm videoing- this lady is verbally harassing me and is basically stalking me and my daughter in the lobby of the theater! Yes! I'm recording! He gave no apology, no refund (not that that would've fixed anything) and when I told him we wouldn't be back he said "good." It was truly the twilight zone- he treated us like we were the scum of the earth. I never once said anything to the lady- I didn't treat her with any disrespect and I was actually pretty calm when I talked to the manager in spite of him pushing my buttons and treating me like I had done something awful. He refused to give me his bosses contact information. I'm absolutely horrified. Never ever go here. The employees are severely lacking in common sense and human decency. Pathetic. read more
