The only bad thing was waiting a bit for some steam to escape so it could cool down enough to eat! The flaky pastry was amazing and we both ate every bit of our pies. It was everything you would want- tender steak, rich gravy, well cooked potatoes and peas. Service was good as well, so no complaints for our visit on any front. It's an unofficial local nexus for Fence Records, the small indie label started by a friend of mine over a decade ago, and chances are if you pop in here on a Friday afternoon you might just run into someone you know. Over the years the Ship has seen its share of music, and like any local pub worth anything it has a healthy cast of regulars who'll you'll find propping up a bar stool everyday. The nautical theme is par for the course in this seaside village, but there are loads of really neat historical shots framed and hanging on the walls that are worth checking out if you're ever in there.
