Avoid Guardian Protection Services - there are many other options that are better, more affordable, and have better customer service. Their call center customer service line is horrendous - they really do not care about their customers at all.  Like many others, COVID has hit our family and we are barely able to put food on the table and a roof over our heads.  Guardian Protection offered no support or alternative/cheaper plans for the last year of our contract (the first contract I signed with them was 3 years - my fault for not reading the renewal when we moved to a new home that it jumped to 5 years). Today I called to cancel my service at the end of my contract - exactly three months from now. I was told that I could not cancel now - but I had to call back 30 days from the end of the contract.  If I do not, my contract will be renewed on a month-to-month basis.  So, in other words, I call back on exactly  April 20th, or I'm stuck for another month.  I asked that a note be put in my account that I'm canceling now, and giving 90 days notice, but was only told, by Matt, that I needed to call 30 days prior to the end of  the contract. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, Matt took my number (which is already in my account, so....?) and told me a supervisor would call today. Still waiting... read more

I have had my security system for a couple of years now. The system is expensive. I was experiencing difficulty with my mobile video device. The app continued to state device error. I called the help desk and I was transferred to another number, waited 15 minutes then hung up due to nobody answering. I called back several more times no answer. I decided to see if I can get my device to work, I accidentally set off my alarm. NOBODY FROM GUARDIAN PROTECTION called to check up on me. I called back and managed to get a hold of a lady. Big commitment. Unfortunately when I signed my contract things were a lot different for my family. We've managed to hang on financially as much as possible during Covid. But ultimately we had to move from our home recently. Guardian does not care and still are holding me to my $750 early termination. I signed a 5 year contract not knowing we were going into a pandemic. I would not recommend Guardian Protection for this reason. The lack of empathy is terrible. read more

My husband and I are building a new home. Our builder works with Guardian Protection. We've not ever utilized home alarm services with this provider and have no idea of the service protection they would provide but the interaction that we encountered with Home Technology Specialist, Steve Wolff, today was less than acceptable when I contacted him to reschedule an appointment. Steve informed me that he was upset for having to schedule our appt for a Saturday because he doesn't work Saturdays and that we were inconveniencing him even further for having to reschedule. He was unprofessional and spoke to me in a rude tone of voice. Thanks to Steve Wolff, we do not wish to do business with Guardian Protection. We do wish to invest into Steve Wolff by offering to pay for business etiquette classes. read more

Absolute garbage company. Their equipment quit working at the same time they stopped sending me bills. I should have looked into it more but I assumed that our contract was up and the services weren't being provided any longer. One and a half years later, they call me and said they are sorry but their system messed up and they hadn't been sending me bills but they have my bill for back due services (that were never rendered as we weren't using the system due to it not working). They sent me a bill for $1500 plus late fees for something their system wasn't billing me for. Spent months on the phone with them back and forth (while they continued to bill be unknowingly adding to the bill and late fees). Finally a manager calls me today and says they can take $4 a month of for the broken doorbell saving me $48 on the $1900 (now after them taking months to get an answer) bill. DO NOT USE THIS COPMANY. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM AND RIP OFF. read more

That may be fine if you are okay with 60 months but if you are not they will still slide this paperwork in and that is deceitful. Second, relocation services - if you relocate to an area or home/apartment that can not take the services and you still have time on your contract. You will have to pay the rest of the contract out - plus early termination penalties. Third, early termination penalties/renewal. I find these appalling and they do differ per State - as Guardian Protection Services will use to the full their advantage at a per State level. First ETP (Early Termination Penalties). So in a 60-month contract at month 58 I call and want to cancel - I'm willing to pay the $90 for the two months and walk away. No, that does not work their early termination penalties we're over $1000.00! Next, renewal - in some States it can auto-renew for 12 months or more, and some it auto-renews for 30 days - check your State. This means you have to call in exactly 30 days before your contract expires. Fourth, final on my list is costs. A 4G LTE connection - the type that Guardian gets costs under $5/Month. The hardware that Guardian Protection Services installs is likewise very inexpensive (and I might add we had a very bad install - the motherboard - battery, etc. is just hanging not fastened to anything). All of that is $45/Month for a base security system - two keypads - three doors - two glass breaks - smoke detectors - carbon monoxide detector - that's it. I have 12 windows on the lower levels that have nothing. In calling in to cancel they said they could take off $5/Month. Check them out on Glassdoor as well - how do their employees like what they do and the company they work for? AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! We signed up nearly 3 years ago and at first all seemed well, until our Skybell stopped working properly and nothing was done to fix it. Now we want to look at other options only to find out that despite stating we did NOT want a lengthy contract, we got locked into a 5 year contract and have to pay a $750 extortion fee to get out. Home security is a really weird thing. You want the absolute best you can get, but deep down you hope you never have to use it. As a single adult with a disability who lives alone, I'm definitely not paranoid about my safety but after having had a couple break-ins at my home I also committed myself to at least doing what I can do to maintain a safe environment. After the ending of my contract with my previous provider, I opted to explore the market a little bit given recent advancements in home security and the growth of the digital revolution in the industry. I initially opted for AT&T's Digital Life given my positive history with AT&T in terms of U-Verse, but after a couple of false starts and failures on their part I decided to go a different route. While I'd certainly heard of Guardian Protection Services, it wasn't until I saw their sign at a local business I particularly respect that I decided to explore them further. The timing was good with Black Friday and the holidays leading to special offers galore. While Guardian isn't an advertising heavy company, they do have a pretty strong web presence and I was able to find a deal that sounded intriguing and would allow me to provide my home with the security I desired. I I submitted an e-mail inquiry to find out more. I submitted the request on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and was contacted the following Monday afternoon. I consider this to be excellent timing - it's not obsessive as I despise companies that call you right away, but it's also not a significant delay that allows you too much time to explore other options. The person I spoke with was friendly and helpful, but not pushy or doing an incredible hard-sell. We arranged an appointment for the next evening and Vernon, one of Guardian's local representatives arrived on time and in an "unmarked" vehicle (but they did have I.D.). Vernon was friendly and helpful. He was aware that I'd responded to an online ad, but wasn't aware of which one (which I think is a good thing - it allows him to suggest what will work rather than going with the expected). He checked out my home, made suggestions, and we discussed pricing. He made a couple extra recommendations, I accepted one of the two, and he did his best it seemed to get me a system that would meet my needs within my budget. He created an option with medical alert that truly was helpful given my health challenges, though he presented it in a way that was not condescending. He was friendly, personable, and professional. He talked about being with Guardian for a considerable period of time and his affection for the company was obvious. After discussing pricing, options, the system itself, and time commitment, I opted to go with the offer despite my having reservations about a five-year commitment (which is my only true concern with Guardian - five years is simply unreasonable given the changes in technology and service limits). They primarily install during the week, but do have some weekend options. I scored a Saturday morning install within a week and the person did as arranged by calling me 30-minutes before arrival. The installer took between 3-4 hours to install the system and spent the needed time to ensure I understood everything. When I wasn't quite happy with the positioning on one system option, he changed it without hesitation. He was friendly, helpful, and obviously knew his stuff. He also knew how to explain the system in a non-technical way that made it all user friendly. I was genuinely impressed. He also spoke highly of the company in a sincere way. I am incredibly happy with Guardian and if I could, it would easily be a 4 1/2 star rating. However, I can't quite justify a five-star due to a couple of administrative issues that I think do matter. While I am a believer in "you get what you pay for," I truly think the five-year agreement is a bit extreme as it doesn't allow for advances in technology and/or simply changes in life circumstances. I realize there's a cost to systems, but it seems like there would be a more customer friendly way to address the need to be fiscally responsible. I was also informed that after 90 days there's a deductible on equipment/service issues. This seems contradictory - I have to pay on the equipment for five years, but you'll only guarantee it for 90 days? That bugs me. Admittedly, the deductible is only $25 (I believe) but I think it sends the message that you don't stand behind your equipment. These are minor quibbles. I'm definitely a fan and excited to have the new system in place. With this system, I feel far more secure in my home than I did previously and I appreciated that from the first phone call to Vernon to install, I feel like everyone went above and beyond and did so in a way that was upbeat, friendly, helpful, and caring. I have a system that will be monitored for less than $50 a month and my home and health are much more protected. read more

We have had this service since 2002. After all of these years of running smoothly we experienced trouble with the system-which would be expected ending the year 2019. This is the first time we have had a technician out since it was installed. His name is John! He addressed the actual problems and because of our system not having the newest technologies we would need to run extra wires to our new wireless land lines. He thought about our options then was able to get a super kind lady Mary on the phone from the company that allowed us an upgrade with no extra fees since we were planning on continuing with their service for many more years. The extra batteries to be replaced and equipment were waived and we only had to pay $15 for today's services. We will have wireless communication now which means no land line is needed and we are able to use a cell app! My monthly bill will only be increased by $5 or less. I have never had a service provider come into my house and go above and beyond like this! I would recommend this company to everyone needing a great trustworthy security system! read more

Be very careful when setting up your service and read the contract. Our contract was for 5 years and despite selling and moving from the existing house our 'early' termination fee was $1100. Despite the fact that the new owners set up service with them they would not allow us to cancel our service. So we continue to have to pay $44.95/month for the next year while they are being paid by the new homeowners as well. What a scam! read more

If you are thinking about using Guardian, DON'T! They have the worst customer service and all they care about is $$$. You are charged every time a technician comes out even if it's their fault the system is not working. Our keypad stopped working and they charged us $100 for the guy to look at it and then said we had to replace it for $350?!!! I wish we never had signed a contract with them. DO NOT use Guardian unless you want to be locked into a (5) year long contract!!! We purchased a home through M/I Homes and wanted to install a home security system. We were subsequently referred to Guardian. We met with the sales Rep with Guardian who mentioned the contract terms were flexible when asked. Forward 6 months and the service tech came to review the contract and explained it was for FIVE (5) MONTHS!! I was extremely upset and contacted Customer Service who mentioned I had no options other than to pay a $1.9k early termination fee. I told her this was completely unacceptable as their sales practices were very deceiving! The sales rep rushed through the contract and simply said sign on each 'x' and did NOT mention anything about a 5-yr term! read more

Horrible experience, strongly would not recommend. I had a new Fischer Home built. Part of the process is to sit down with these jokers. They rope you into signing a contract. Our sales guy said it was a 2 year contract, later we found out it was a 5 year. Then we agreed the OnQ panel (looks like your fuse box) would be placed on the exterior wall of the homes basement. They wired it all in and placed the box dead center of the basement and will not move the box. Since we had this all installed, the equipment malfunctions and the cameras (the worst ever, I strongly advise against them if you don't listen to any of my warnings), the cameras are junk and will randomly go off all throughout the night. Better alternative is the RING. I've tried talking with the sales people, even corporate and they try to problem solve, but nothing ever comes of any of it. Good luck and if your reading this, you were warned. My housing addition is still being built. I have a sign in my garage window that says Guardian Homes is a SCAM! BTW, my house is on a main corner up front. read more

People, if you are considering Guardian, please take your business elsewhere. The customer service here is absolutely rotten. Not only that, the equipment is unreliable. A home security system is an extremely important part of your home. Do not trust that tall order with Guardian. I flip houses for a living and have ALWAYS used Guardian in the past. Their customer service and equipment has progressively gotten worse and worse. For example, I sold two security systems along with the houses that I recently sold to my home buyers. The buyers wanted to take over the contracts (you'd think this would be a big bonus for Guardian!). However, their experience trying to transfer the alarm contract over to their names was a nightmare. To add insult to injury, after the contracts were eventually successfully transferred over, guardian keeps charging my credit card. And they can't seem to figure out why this keeps happening. Trying to talk to a human being and customer service is like being in the twilight zone. No one seems to know what's going on and they are always saying that "another department will need to call me back". There are a lot of other home security options out there to choose from. I would not recommend Guardian. read more

The people who answered the phone when we called were less than helpful !! Are you telling me the only way to shut off my alarm is by putting my password in the mail???? So I an supposed to sit here with the alarm blaring for 4 days til the mail comes?? By the way they NEVER offered to send someone out !!! To fix their equipment! We had to cut the lines to the alarm system for it to stop! We have asked over and over for the owner of the company to call us only to be told they can't do that ??? Really it seems they can't do much of anything! Telling me you wil give me the email address of the top management/ owner so I can email him??? Like I think that email message is actually going to him !! Lol if you were legitimate you would have the owner return our phone calls as you keep dropping the ball and we get nowhere on the phone with customer service except run around over and over! STAY AWAY at all costs! We own a business and if someone calls and wants to speak with us we don't tell our employees to give them some story !
