The staff at Pinetree was great! From the medical and nursing staff right down to chefs and techs. The person who finally got me there spent about I'd have to say three months trying to convince me. I was afraid... But it got down to where I had to make a choice, live or die. Many of the staff were previously addicts themselves. I am 55 and I was a private pay as I didn't have insurance. When I left I was determined to stay on track and I hope and pray that I can. I currently have not had a drink in eight days. I've only been home for one day though. I think I was most afraid of having withdrawal symptoms, but the staff knew what they were doing and other than being tired, I didn't have many. It was really helpful to be around other alcoholics. They knew exactly how I was feeling. They were very careful about Covid and did an instant test and one that they sent out before they would put you in a shared room. I chose not to go onto a group setting where as many others were because they had health insurance. I've struggled with alcohol for quite a while but for some reason this time, I know I can do it. The good news: all the employees were really nice, but new. Good choice of free snacks. Food was good. Nice outdoor space. Watch out, they tried to keep my drivers license when I tried to leave within the terms of my contract. Fortunately my Dad and brother are attorneys. There are cameras in many other bedrooms that I don't think are adequately disclosed. The building is freezing cold so bring extra warm clothes. Sent my son in law over there but didn't stay long. The story I heard was pretty alarming. My gist of it was that this place is badly Woke, far Left. A male patient getting strip/cavity searched by a gay male staff member. (Apparently they saw nothing wrong with this). A wrong pronoun used accidentally so lets get seriously offended. Look at the patient sideways and judge if from a traditionally political Red community. Apparently, if you happen to be white straight male Christian conservative, these guys will treat you like garbage. If this is you, you may want to seek help elsewhere. read more

Pine Tree is the only Recovery Center I have been to. The staff has been great and nothing but helpful the whole way through. The food was amazing. I have learned a lot of helpful tools here to use out in the real world. I'm also doing their PHP program. Pine Tree has been great. read more

i have been in treattment at pine tree for about 25 days now having come here for detox right to residential. it has been the most amazing experience ive had. for someone who has struggled with addiction to drugs and alcohol for 30+years it has been a god send!! amzing staff, they all know what we have been thru and arent just saying they know they've been in our shoes...always a great spread of top of the line cooks! if u are struggling or someone u know is then please give them a call!! read more

Upon arriving to Pine Tree Detox, I was in very bad shape. I was well on my way to an early grave. The amount of care and love provided by the team in detox made me feel like that is exactly where I needed to be. Everyone is always willing to assist you in any way. The food was also fantastic! The cable television was great and the beds were comfy. Because of my fantastic experience in detox, I decided to do the 28 day residential program they offer. I was nervous at first but the clients, along with the staff made the whole transition very easy. The clinician I received was a great help to me from the very start. He offered insight to me that I will remember for the rest of my life. There wasn't one staff member there that was ever in a bad mood, not kind, or unhelpful. I made friends in the 28-day residential that I know I'll have for a lifetime. The whole experience amazing to say the least. I throughly believe God put Pine Tree in my path and in doing so, saved my life. Thank you! read more

Pine Tree is truly an amazing recovery center for those who have either been in recovery before or just starting their journey for the first time. The staff is filled with extremely intelligent human beings who want the best for you while you go through this experience. They help you understand what's in front of you with their own extensive experiences and knowledge especially when it comes to the big book and learning the ropes of AA. They don't treat you just as a patient, but as a human being because a lot of them have been exactly where you are now. please if you love your family members, or your thinking about going here don't! I sent my partner here ,he was here for seven days on day five he was sent to the hospital with a heart rate of 170 , they called me to tell me he went to the hospital so I of course called the hospital , they did an EKG then released him back to the facility , that next day they decided they were gonna send him to there sister company southern Maine recovery. no follow up on what was going on with him nothing! the facility didn't send him with his meds he had to call his doctor to get meds , mind you this isn't local to us. a couple days later he asked for his smart watch he didn't care about the phone part he wanted to keep track of his heart rate, but they refused to give it to him.... that night at 4 he died .... they should have followed up and instead they did nothing and now they avoid my phone calls. they are very negligent . do not send anyone you love here!because of there negligence we lost our person! read more

When I was in Pine Tree detoxing, they told my husband that I could call him whenever I wanted to which was the furthest from the truth. I was only allowed to call him twice during the 7 days stay. There he sat thinking I did not want to talk to him, which caused stress at a time I should not have had to deal with this on top of all the other stuff I was going through. This did nothing to help my marriage or recovery! read more

Some of the staff that I have met so far are great my husband is in the recovery center it seemed wonderful while he was in detox they called me everyday to let me know what was going on. After a week of recovery I was wondering why I hadn't received a phone call I then had to call them because we had upcoming court dates for him a few pertaining to me as well. He is only allowed to call me two times a week for 15 minutes I have five days till one court date and have not been able to actually discuss it with my husband other than the fact he said he couldn't go while there. I was hoping that I'm going there was going to save our marriage and thankful and hopeful if he gets help but not if it is going to inflict important things that need to be taken care of. I have become frustrated not being able to talk to him about these issues,, and now it seems like his recovery is going to cost us a divorce. I'm just sad and depressed over pine tree recovery not taking care of issues that are utmost important. read more

Had the worst experience with this place. I was greeted by a nurse who was very jittery and uncertain. We went into the room to do a Covid test. She told me I would have to sign a "shit load" of paperwork. I asked, because I wasn't feeling like my best self, if my husband could look over the papers. She said no. There was no way that they could do that. She said I would have to strip naked in front of two nurses and they would have to examine my whole body. I asked if there was a way to do that that might be less humiliating. Like looking at one area while another was covered. She said no that it had to be done. By this point I was so upset that I went back out to sit with my husband to discuss. I voluntarily checked myself in as I needed help withdrawing from clonazapam that was prescribed for sleep. I had never abused this medication, but she treated me like garbage. I can only hope that someone in a more vulnerable position, who went there to get help for something more serious than a chemical dependence, would be treated with some level of compassion. She came out to the reception area, where three men had just come down a flight of stairs to the left laughing hysterically, to tell me that as a grown adult, if I was responsible and capable of making my own decisions, my husband shouldn't need to look over anything. I ASKED that he be allowed to review because I AM a grown adult, who was well aware I was not in the best frame of mind, and it was the more responsible thing to have someone I trust look over paperwork rather than blindly signing it. Particularly if there was anything financial. When I asked, she said "most of them weren't financial". Sorry- not good enough. I asked what medications I would be given if any as I was legitimately concerned about going in there on one medication and being hooked on four more when I came out. She said they use Suboxone and other "comfort meds". I asked specifically which medications fall under "comfort meds". She said they were "just medications used to help patients get more comfortable. Again- not good enough. I was told information about the woman I would likely be rooming with. That, like me, she did not abuse a substance but developed a dependency based on long term use so we should "get along well". I would think this information would be private for her sake unless she chose to share it herself. Shame on them for not respecting patient privacy. When I asked what the 48 hour personal belongings waiver was, she told me it was to discourage people from wanting to leave early and that if I did, I wouldn't be allowed to take my things home with me. I would have to wait two days and then go claim them. When I told my husband about the strip search- which I fully expected given the sensitive nature of the establishment and considering the safety of all patients, the nurse corrected me and said that I could wear a grown. That was a sharp contrast between what she said in the intake room. Wanting help, I asked once more if the search could be done in a way that would not retraumatize me from a past assault, she coldly replied that they had made enough "concessions" for me. Those being a diet free of refined sugar, and to be allowed to call home once per day. For 1000$ a night, It didn't feel like too big of an ask. She repeatedly told me how rushed and busy they were. She said she had just graduated from nursing school. It showed. I sincerely hope this review is used to prompt positive change. This is an already difficult situation and it doesn't need to be made worse but staff that are cold and callous as opposed to caring and support. I could not have been more disappointed in this experience and with the staff at Pine Tree Recovery Center. read more

TOTAL BS all over my exit forms. NO documents provided during my stay, AT ALL. Not for the 1/2 dozen meds they give you w/o explanation, no treatment plan. They make you sign everything on a tablet w/o reading it & then you're SOL whn you leave trying to find outpatient care. I legit had to make a SCENE to be heard, spoke with admin YESTERDAY to get things cleared up & was reassured things would be rectified. They weren't. A "therapist" whom I never met told DHHS I refused recommended treatment (my discharge says residential rehab) when I was absolutely NEVER told rehab, or ANYTHING at ALL, PERIOD. I wasn't even ALLOWED to look at my paperwork until I signed out & left, no doubt so when I read the inaccuracies I can't do anything. Legal docs signed prior & after basically screw you. I was never given info about A some virtual IOP I was supposed to be set up with when I spoke to admin Carrie yest, nothing abt guardian, literally smoke & mirrors. They bounce you from 1 LCSW & NP to the next EVERY day, with no set schedule/plan, save for random untitled groups and AA after 7, mostly spirituality based advice & stereotyping. Many who don't know or care about background, etc, while claiming to support you. NEVER received a formal subs abuse eval, or treatment plan. Instead of connecting me to my local MAT, they had me call Better Life (I think) to get Suboxone & when I had an adverse reaction IN HOUSE they switched me to a taper w ZERO help setting up MAT after. They DIDN'T EVEN NOTATE IT ON MY FILE! I was just given a list of numbers! Several times I had to refuse unsafe meds & nurse Amy, treated me like a med-seeker & almost purposefully gave me NSAIDS and a serotonin agonist when I VERY CLEARLY explained why I can't have either, or I cld LITERALLY go into renal failure. Wasn't allowed access to my phone to get dr contacts for 11 DAYS! Wasn't given my back n knee braces, & NO help w/chronic pain except disposable heat packs, tylenol & subutex (til they taper it off). I spent my ENTIRE 13-day stay w 3 subluxated ribs, elbow, and left hip, & if I expressed any concern I was doped out w vistaril, backofen & clonadine [after telling them my blood pressure sometimes drops too low on these things (OSH and POTS)]. Cut off cold turkey from PRESCRIBED ADHD medication & NO alternate med.. i cld go on. Place is clean, food is amazing, & some staff rly are good people, but the whole set up is a 1-size-fits-most plan w little real casework & now Im w no aftercare & a few printouts full of lies. Now I may not be able to see my little girl after DHHS was told I was non-compliant -100% FALSE. If you have no drs & need quick rehab, this might work for you, if you aren't given wrong meds by biased nurses, not in need of counseling, worship & don't ask questions. If you need individualized care, know your rights. Prior to arrival, I requested specifically, for safety, my private appts w med & counseling be recorded in acc. w/HIPAA & my right to record according to ME's '1party consent' law. Was told 'no', w/NO reason why i was denied, except "you just can't." If there is proper care & HIPAA compliance (as it would be in private), there should be no reason to refuse. Now I know why. They would be in trouble. I have ptsd due to malpractice that has almost resulted in death 3x. It happens here too. I will be seeking legal counsel to get this addressed. Erika & Christina: so grateful for your kindness & empathy, especially after my panic attack due to the aforementioned chaos. It isn't easy. This is a good place to go for detox and recovery but not a good place to work, at all. The chef , I do not have any kind words to describe him. Sometimes he makes good food. Most of the time, he's harassing vulnerable staff. The management and HR team is biased and corrupt. Look elsewhere. To work for them is work full of fake smiles and empty promises. They do NOT care about their workers well-being's. read more
