I just now saw the review given by the couple who were also scammed by this con artist. I had the…read moreexact thing happen to me. He was suppose to install tiles in two bathrooms, put a lock on the shed and a few other little "handy man" items around the house. I became very concerned when i recieved a voice mail message at 8.30 am stating he was running late. About an hour later he called back and i missed the call. Called him back shortly, and he began telling me that i need to answer my phone, as he wasn't going to come to my house if i wasn't going to be home. Keep in mind work was suppose to begin at 9.00 am as was scheduled by him. He then informed me that because i didn't answer my phone, he went on to something else and wouldn't be able to come for an hour. I had already took the a.m. off from work, and took my dog to daycare, as i planned on him being at my house at the 9.00 am scheduled appt. Like the couple who were also scammed, i gave him a down payment of $140.00 and was prepared to pay another $140.00 after job complete. Anyways, he arrived to my home almost 2 hours later from the scheduled time, and again blamed me because i didn't answer my phone. I informed him of the voice mail message he left stating he would be late, and again expressed my concerns about trying to pass blame on to me for not answering the phone. In hind sight, i really believe he was just trying to keep the $140.00 without doing any work. It took him about an hour to place the tiles in both bathrooms. As I reviewed the work i was completely astounded by how poor it looked. Huge gaps, little pieces placed to try to hide the gaps, floor tiles uneven and this is quite evident. Expressed my severe dislike of the work, and asked him what he thought was a fair price, seeing how the tiles were not correct, the fact that after seeing the tiling, in no other way would i allow him to do some more work on the house. He informed me that regardless of my concerns, he was still to be paid the additional $140.00 because it stated on his proposal, After asking him to justify why I would pay the other $140.00 he became very confrontational and rude. To get him out of my house, i paid the $140.00. About an hour after he left i called my bank to stop payment on that check, he had already cashed it. I contacted both Angies List and the BBB to file a complaint. It's no real surprise he wasn't BBB accredited. At this time the BBB has sent him my complaint, and are waiting for his response. Again like the couple he scammed in the previous review, i strongly recommend not using this agency, unless you also want to be the victim of a con artist. I usually never write reviews about companies i use for home repairs, positive or negative, but this man is a blatant scammer, and i really think it's important for other's to be aware. We will see if he does the right thing by returning the money, however i'm not really gonna get my hopes up. I also took photos.
