Fire Katherine is the frist thing I thought when I left after not even being in to store for 5 minutes bc I was basically followed I swear that customer service was absolutely horrible and I almost screamed when she was fs more than just following us and also she judged me and looked me up and down as if she is Regina gorge and she's not she just looks like gorge this place was super small and easily crowded so Gucci Rome fire her NOW before u lose more customers. While in Rome, the first luxury brand store I wanted to go into was Gucci as I've had an idea of what I wanted to buy. To my dismay, my customer service experience here both times were terrible. Yes, I gave the store two tries. Thank goodness my awful experiences here didn't stop me from visiting other luxury brand stores nearby because the staff at every other boutique I shopped at were much better than the ones working at this Gucci boutique. If you want to experience great customer service, I highly recommend asking for Halyna at Dior. She stood out amongst the rest as she was very professional and pleasant to work with. She truly made my shopping experience luxurious. As you can guess, I waited outside in the cold with everyone else in the long line. When I finally got in, I saw many sales associates just standing and talking to each other at the front of the store. My Gucci sales associate introduced himself and asked what I was looking for. I told him the three items I wanted to see and from the beginning, he was already looking at his watch and stepped away out of sight the majority of the time I was shopping, so when I had a question, I had to look for another associate! One of the item I asked for was located in their other boutique down the street, so he guided me there and handed me off to another female associate. I got the same cold shoulder treatment from this female associate. I wasn't in either Gucci boutiques for long and stepped out without notifying them because why would I want to give my business to someone who obviously doesn't care and even bother to be nearby? However, since the prices here are much cheaper than in the States, I came back trying to debate between three bags from three different brands I wanted to spend my money on. The second time around, I had already made a purchase from Dior, and was carrying a big Dior shopping bag with my purchase in it. The sales associate at the door commented that I was there earlier and wasn't so and so helping me. I told her that I have no clue, because no one actually helped me. She gave me a new sales associate and again, the cold shoulder treatment. I guess this is their work culture at this boutique. Since my sales associate was nonexistent, I went to help myself and took the bag I was interested in off of the shelf. Magically, right away another sales associate came and told me I can't take things off the shelf, but can ask for assistance. The lack of customer service experience here spoiled my mood to shop anything Gucci while in Italy, so I just left. I will say that I bought several items from all the other luxury brand stores I stepped into including a top tier bag from another boutique. I don't know if Gucci's sales associates get paid on commission, but the fact that they are so rude and don't even care about their job and expect others to drop a pretty penny for lack of service is ridiculous. I mean, at least by the second time around, if you see that a customer had already made purchases elsewhere, wouldn't you know that they're willing to spend some money if you just did your job? I did notice that the majority of customers who shopped at this boutique left empty handed, but I'm not surprised because I did too. I read other reviews and am both sad and surprised because the experiences were so different from mine that I'm wondering what happened to their staff. read more

My first experience shopping at a high end store (by choice, I've always wanted to buy a luxury purse either in Italy or France) and that dream finally came true! Shopping at Gucci was a dream come true and amazing experience as it's conveniently located near the Spanish Steps. This review is for Simone Casale! It's long overdue. I was here 5 months ago and Simone was the best at helping me with a few purchases while I visited Italy. The store itself was clean and busy the day I went in. I had been walking around Rome for a few hours and when I came into the store I was hot and tired. Simone was welcoming and even offered me sparkling water. He was also patient while I tried on several items. He didn't product push and was honest about what looked well and what didn't. He was also informative about the tax credit one receives for travelers when purchasing luxury goods. The store is located right across from the Spanish steps. There's a couple of Gucci stores within a mile radius and this one is fully stock than the other store. The sales staff are very welcoming and they serve espresso or water upon your arrival. I love coming here with my daughter cause they always make you feel special and treat you like royalty unlike other high end places. What a fantastic experience. My wife and I came here to purchase an anniversary present for my wife - she always wanted to get a handbag at the flagship original Gucci store. The flagship store was just as good as I remembered. Located just across the way from the bottom of the Spanish Steps. The staff was very attentive and went out of their way to run over to a off sight area to retrieve items that were showing as out of stock. They also made a very good effort to assist with VAT paperwork. Prices are good versus the U.S. stores and website. While it is almost always crowded it is certainly worth a visit. read more

Reasons to go. 1. History baby! This Gucci boutique opened in 1938. 2. Visited by celebrities. 3. Because this is a flagship store, they did put a lot of thought into presentation. I'm not the retail game but I still appreciate the creativity involved in decorating this boutique. 4. Merchandise that you can't get elsewhere or at least I've never seen in the stores like baby Gucci wear. A whole mini room with itty bitty GG Shoes! Eek! This is a large Gucci, because I believe this is the flagship store. This meaning that it is two-storied with a lot of unique items. But first, typical Mediterranean weather may have it so that it rains throughout the day but stays a constant 75F, meaning that you will have an umbrella. I was too fixated on what I was going to purchase (oohs and ahhs since i'm in the OG Gucci store) to notice that I was holding my umbrella the whole time. It was dry, but a nice SA directed me where to put my umbrella and I obliged. Americans and their mannerisms, man. Ended up leaving with 2 pairs of flats as all I brought on this trip were boots. I wanted a pair of gucci driving shoes. They told me that Gucci does not make men's drivers. It's only one of their most iconic menswear items... I showed them a picture on google and they finally acknowledged that maybe Gucci does make drivers. They then told me they were discontinued item and the only remaining pairs are in a store in Barcelona. But they won't ship them to me because that store is an outlet. I showed them that men's drivers are readily available for ordering on their US and European websites. They told me those are a new version / model number. I clarified that I don't care what season or SKU is--the design has literally remained the same since their inception. I said then great, I'll buy the drivers with the new SKU. But, they said they don't have my size in stock. I asked whether they can ship them to me or if the store receives regular shipments; they said they were unsure. They then claimed it was an American only item and Gucci doesnt sell driving loafers in Europe? I am 100% sure the flagship Gucci store in rome can source a pair of one of their most ubiquitous items in the most average size. When you're looking to spend $600 on a pair of drivers you would think they could would be remotely knowledgeable or resourceful. I was in a pressed button down, nice chinos and was polite and patient the entire time. Unsure if they were playing mind games and didnt want to sell to me because I was early 20s and American or if they are truly incompetent. Later went to the Gucci store elsewhere in Europe and they actually knew what driving loafers were, had them in stock, and were willing to sell them. Unfortunately, their 9 was too small and 9.5 was too big. They said their are manufacturing inconsistencies and each pair is sized bit differently. read more

Excellent product selection including almost the entire Gucci line, including the latest seasonal styles. The store is divided into two sections, for uomo, and donna, and each are nicely laid out and designed. There are always plenty of knowledgeable staff assistants to help. The store is busy all day long but most are serious customers rather than gawking tourists. I purchased a couple items for my daughter and as usual the customer service was excellent. There's a second, smaller Gucci store just around the corner; I visited this one, too, and didn't quite understand why they have two locations. The second was not very busy and may be used for training their staff and testing new products. Now here's a solid word of advice that will save you big money. First, Gucci does not have sales. They may have done so in the past, but no Gucci stores anywhere in the world are having sales, not even in Italy during the summer "Saldi" season in July. However, there's a smaller Gucci boutique at the Airport in Rome, that sells mostly women's products (handbags mainly - NO MEN'S SHOES!) for vastly lower tax-free prices, upwards of 30% less than out in town. Be prepared to be pulled aside for secondary inspection when you pass through US customs, and don't bother fibbing, they know everything you bought already because you have to scan your boarding pass when purchasing a the airport's duty free stores... read more

I've been to Gucci stores all around the world, yet none come close to the service and knowledge at this location. In my opinion, nothing is more important in retail and personal interactions combined with knowledge of product. The lack of pretentious employees was reason enough to purchase from this location. My fiancé was treated like and queen and by the end of the experience was treated like a close family friend. Two employees Stand out, Carla (store manager) and Giuseppina. Both were kind and hospitable offering various kinds of drink and chocolate that were unbelievable. Life experiences were shared, dining advice was given, directions were readily available on top of the great customer service. I suggest seeking both of the employees that we were blessed with. The Gucci flagship store, located at the foot of the Spanish Steps, is gorgeous with both a contemporary and Dolce Vita charm. Often I have seen lines formed outside of this store. Gucci's product line and current collection is amazing. The quality and craftsmanship scream from every item. I bought a pair of pumps that are more like artwork than footware. Buon Natalie to me! I figured the flagship store would carry all products but there are items that I have seen and wanted in Holland and the US that are not available here. Also, I have attempted to have Gucci restore handbags that I purchased years ago that the store thought could be repaired. (Unfortunately, the Repair Service in NJ leaves much to be desired and you must be patient since it takes nearly seven months to recondition a bag; it takes three months to simply get an estimate; the hold times when you call the After Sales Specialists are in excess of thirty minutes; the Repair Services does not not return calls; and the shipping policies are inflexible. Store General Managers admit they are "horrible" and they are working on improvements.) Gucci After Service knocks a five-star rating down to four stars. (Gucci After Sales Customer Service is a zero star because they don't even respond to on-line comments.) Back to this store...they offer shoes, accessories, and runway ready-to-wear. They also offer items exclusive only to the Rome location. The store only had summer sale items for two weeks. Gucci makes beautiful products by an incredible design team.
