RATING FOR OUTDOOR SCULPTURE GARDEN…read more We were in Guelph for hubby's work assignment; and as a good Yelper/budget tourist, I had to scope out interesting and free spots to explore in the city. It was a holiday weekend so the museum itself was closed; but the outdoor sculpture garden is always open, even on holidays and weekends. The Donald Forster Sculpture Park takes up 2 1/2 acres, and is the "largest sculpture park at a public gallery in Canada, featuring 39 works by prominent Canadian and international artists" - website. There are many trees to shade you from the sun, but only a few places to sit if you want to rest. I adore outdoor sculpture gardens because they combine art and beautiful landscaping. The sculptures were easy to locate since they were in the museum's perimeter. I was happy that I able to find all of them without much effort; and since they were positioned close together, I could take my time admiring each piece. So I got two and added a $5 quinoa, arugula, apple slice salad. I thought this place was way to classy for the tater tots but for only $3 I threw them into the meal and was pleasantly surprised at how well they paired with the goat cheese dressing on salad. Most of the time the music is good and I have heard some really great bands there. Trivia night is always a good time. Nice large patio out back for smokers. Heated too!
