I've come here a couple times to see exhibits and to early vote which is very easy to do here. They offer many special events here with plenty of parking and easy access. We live only a few miles from the Trickster Cultural Center and have never been able to go. We've…read moretried to go many times over the years but never looked at their hours of operation. We finally were able to go in on 2/26/22. And, the wait was worth it. We were the only people who were not volunteers or employees that day - we had the museum to ourselves. The building was much larger than it appears outside. You enter into the front room, which is a combination of artifacts, art, jewelry, and a gift shop. There is a room open on the north side which was, for the most part empty. This is their special exhibit room. There were some remaining items from a prior exhibit, which were very interesting. There is also a room upstairs with various items. The most interesting were the quilts and a Native American dress exhibit. Most of the museum is built to honor Native American veterans. This whole theme was fascinating. I fancy myself as an American history buff. Frankly, everything was new to me except for a display case explaining the "Code Talkers." (If you aren't sure about the code talkers - check Wikipedia or see the movie. This was fantastic. There is no entrance fee so you can just enter, but there is a place to leave donations. When you do go, make sure to donate what you can. Much of their funding relies on this.

This window has been in my family for 50 years now. It was in my house when I was growing up and…read morehas moved with me twice. I had installed it into my present house and my wife and I enjoyed looking at it every time we walked into our bedroom. Last year I noticed the glass was coming out of the leading holding it together. Upon further investigation I realized that the wood frame was rotted on the outside causing the issue. The glass was literally sinking out of the frame. After searching the internet I stumbled across Art Glass and Studio. I'm sure glad I did. Lawrence (Law) was a pleasure to work with! He was honest and realistic about his timeframe for assessing the situation and actually getting the work started and finished. I really appreciated that he let us know that he is a busy guy handling a number of projects at the same time but would give our window his utmost attention when our time came. He gave us plenty of options for the repairs working with our budget and suggesting different methods for reinstallation of the window. The option we chose was to make the window a decorative piece instead of an actual permanent window. That way if we move again or our children want the window to stay in the family after we're gone it will be easier to move it to the next place. When it came time for our window to be worked on, I removed it from our house (my choice to save money) and took it over to his shop. Law started on it and kept us informed as to how it was going. Once started, he finished it quickly and it looks great! In this day and age of "bait and switch" it was such a pleasure to work with someone who actually does what he says and does great work. This window was built around 1870 and thanks to Art Glass and Studio (Law) it should have another 150 years of in it. I highly recommend them

A hidden gem! I was originally intending to stop here for a short nature walk before an event but…read moreended up doing a much longer visit once I realized the amount of different activities there are too do here. The Nature Center is a nice building with fun interactive displays as well as an assortment of different wildlife like fish and tortoises. It also provides indoor bathrooms and spaces for different activities. The nature trails are paved very well, providing a very easy walking path largely free of elevation changes and challenging terrain to walk on. Very easy in comparison to what you see at many forest preserves, and on par with nicer parks in terms of path maintenance and quality. Along the trail are also tons of fun stories about a seahorse and jellyfish named peanut butter and jellyfish. These are fun ways to incentivize walkers to walk the entire train and be entertained at the same time. There are also an assortment of birds such as barred owl, red-tailed hawks, and more to see in a variety of outdoor displays. I was very happy with how well spaced out these were and as a result, it was easy to casually watch these beautiful animals without feeling crowded at all. Overall a hidden gem and great free way to experience both nature and animals.

There are always incredible birds to see: owls, hawks, falcons, even turkey vultures. which keeps things exciting and gives us something new to talk about each time. It's such a special place for kids to stay curious and engaged. My girls are always intrigued by what they might spot next, and I love how it naturally gets them interested in wildlife and the outdoors. No matter how many times we go, we never get bored. It's peaceful, educational, and just a really cool experience for the whole family.
