When the sound coming from our washing machine sounded like the machine that Kramer from the Seinfeld TV Comedy series dumped cement in, I knew it was time to start shopping. With all due respect to retailers of these products, when you add the cost of a new wash machine, delivery and installation charges you are looking at a sizable investment. I also knew that my purchase of a washboard as was used many years ago would not suffice for a daughter that runs a full cycle for a handkerchief. However since we are moving in a few months with no plans on taking the washing machine, stores that sell refurbished, open box, scratch and dent appliances seemed a viable option. I located one a short distance from my home and decided to see what was available. I checked the reviews of the many outlets and ASA Appliances with all 5 star reviews was my choice. With not much of a storefront I walked in and met owner Victoria. Her customer service convinced me I made the right choice. She walked me back into the cavernous building and pointed to a machine that fit the description I had discussed with her. The honest price that included delivery, installation and removal of my non functional washer had me satisfied and signing paperwork for delivery. The final surprise was supplied by her worker Alfredo. Within less than 30 minutes of his arrival, my washer was on his truck, the new machine installed and working and he handed me my long lost pen he found when removing the old machine. CLOTHES DRYER REPAIR When the sound coming out of the…read moreelectric clothes dryer sounded like rocks rolling around in a tin can I knew it was perhaps on its last cycle. A trip to Home Depot and other appliance shops indicated I was looking at $500 to over $700 for a a new compatible dryer plus delivery and installation to replace the noise maker at home. Not knowing what the malady was with the my noise making Whirlpool dryer I decided to call a repair service to see if they could resurrect life back into a machine that had given up. Based on the five star reviews, I selected Tampa Bay Appliance Fix in Brandon. The first good news was that they would be able to send a technician out that afternoon. The second was that the service call fee would be subtracted from the repair work. Five minutes after technician Tim Hart arrival, the drum from the dryer was lying on the floor exposing the worn out parts causing the problem. He had new replacement parts in his van and 30 minutes later the dryer was working soundlessly doing its job. Thanks to the professional work of Tim, the lady of the house was happy and I saved over $500 not having to buy a new dryer. Because it was an older GE long vent dryer it has two blowers and the parts for the secondary blower are very difficult to source. He fixed the switch to get the dryer running again, but we decided against trying to fix the secondary blower fan. Instead, we purchased the newer version of the GE long vent dryer.
