Today members of the Meadowbrook garden club were invited to tour The Scripps Mansion. We were given an eye opening insite to It's Era, Art & Family by the learned Hilde, a seasoned Dosen from Meadowbrook Hall. We enjoyed the gardens and oooed and ahhed over the EuropeanTudor style architecture designed by William's brother-in-law Clarence E. Day for the residence. The many baths were tiled in iridescent ceramic tile by Pewabic Pottery. All the georgous doors were hand carved by the Haden Co. of NY. The house is not at this time open to the public, although they do have occasional special fund raisers and charitable happenings. read more
