We stopped to ask a gentleman standing in front of the hotel if any coffee shops were open. Enter Tony, the kindest most amazing man. He explained that all the shops are closed on Monday and Tuesday.. Then he told us to wait a minute, and he got a coffee pot and brewed us a cup! We were blown away by his kindness. As we chatted with him we discovered he wasn't even working! He had just stopped in to check on something for his boss. THIS is what small towns America is all about! Kenna is quite amazing with her presentation and the quality of food exceeds any expectation we've ever had. Unfortunately, a quick getaway this time quickly turned into an unpleasant experience. After dinner both of our keycards stopped working. We called the Inn for assistance and knocked on the main door but received no response. Luckily, another patron of the Inn easily slid a credit card into the room door jam and unlocked our door. We were lucky to have someone help us get into the room but equally concerned with the fact that the room door had to be left open/unlocked for the remainder of our stay to avoid future lockout situations. Additionally, the lack of effort it took for someone to open our door is more than concerning for safety reasons. To top off a lovely day and a hiccup with our keys not working the Inn elected to charge us extra (above our nightly rate) for unknown reasons. Again, calls to the Inn were not answered or returned. I don't usually take time to write reviews and would have overlooked our room keys not working if it wasn't for the unknown charges on our card. It's sad to experience what I would call a potential for a 5-star review be handled so poorly due to a lack of any response from the Inn. I hope this review prompts the Inn to improve the quality of communication and duty of care for their patrons.

Tracy and Jeff were wonderful hosts with the best service and backstories we've seen in Weston. We were able to text/ call them personally at any time of day if we had a question or needed anything whatsoever. Hands-down the best B&B service I've ever experienced. Our room was wonderful, intimate, and cozy. It is also the only romantic couple-focused room stay in Weston. It featured a two-person tub, hand-picked antiques collected over many years, and some of the coolest architectural features I've ever seen. They brought breakfast right to our door, hot & ready AND at whatever time we requested. It was also DELICIOUS!!! So many options to choose from and they make it all themselves. You can see from the photo what a spread it was and how GREAT it looks. The saloon bar also had many yummy drinks and is directly next to the room we stayed in. It also had tons of antiques that you could tell were intentionally selected over lots of time. They have architectural salvage all over their property and have all kinds of restoration peices for homes, shops, and everything in between. One of the coolest, well-rounded stays of all time with 5-star service, great food & drink, and a ton of things to do and see on their property alone! It is also about a 5 minute walk from everything downtown so we didn't end up having to drive anywhere. I would reccomend The Coal House Lodge to anyone and everyone I know (and already have) ten times over if I could. This is our favorite place in Weston by far, I'm already missing it, and I want to go back next weekend!

Stumbled upon this quirky little spot while walking down Main Street and decided to check it out…read more From a distance, the covered bridge caught my eye, and I thought, "Why not investigate?" It had a vibe of a deserted pumpkin patch--random picture ops like phone booths and other oddities scattered around that didn't seem to quite make sense. There was a sign for a general store, but it didn't look open, if it was ever a store at all. Then, we found some double saloon doors leading to what appeared to be a bar. A sign inside said, "If you want a drink, call Jeff." Now, I don't know where Jeff was or what he was up to if he wasn't tending bar, but I wasn't about to find out. We snapped a few pics of the dusty artifacts, but didn't venture too far. After all, we were on a quick weekender, and the idea of a trip to urgent care for a tetanus shot didn't seem like the best plan. All in all, it was a quirky stop with some decent photo ops, but I read there's a B&B on the property. Can't say I'll be booking a stay anytime soon, though!

A couple of the beds were on the firmer side, and a few pieces of furniture felt a bit small (almost kid-sized), but it was still a cozy setup. ​The Breakfast: We were treated to a freshly baked morning spread featuring a savory quiche and homemade scones. As a huge food lover, I was genuinely jealous of the massive kitchen--that gas range is a chef's dream! Isobel was so kind to answer all my questions and dive into the history of St. Joe and the house itself, clearly a huge passion of hers. My wife and I stayed in the Romeo and Juliet suite and it was so cozy we had a hard time leaving. I was impressed how clean and functional everything was given the age of the home, Isobel left no detail untouched. Isobel was always available to address our needs. I showed up to breakfast an hour early one morning by accident and that didn't matter, she adjusted for me. The next morning I showed up an hour late to breakfast, when I went downstairs expecting to only have coffee available, she still prepared and served us our breakfast which was so kind and not expected. My only concern before arriving was the location not being very central. Turns out I was wrong. My wife and I could get to any of the restaurants downtown or off Fredrick in 3 to 5 min drive. Everywhere else in town could be driven to within 10min. We'll be back. (PS - Glory is wearing a jacket in photos only because we were on our way out the door. The home was set a very comfortable temperature and our room had an independent thermostat just for us.)

We couldn't stop talking about how adorable it was - one friend even stating she wanted to live there! There are three beds, each slept two of us comfortably. One bathroom with shower and tons of towels and washcloths. Full kitchen area as well as dining table that fit all of us. There were several board games but we didn't use them. Each bed area has curtains that can close for privacy. There is a ton of space. There are a lot of stairs to get up to the loft, this wasn't an issue for us but worth mentioning. The host baked us fresh blueberry muffins and delivered them before we checked out! We are already talking about doing this again soon!

Decent-sized city when you are heading out to the highway from Kansas City towards Omaha. In the northernmost and westernmost part of Missouri and it has a small town feel while still being one of the larger cities in western Missouri. Police departments up here can be a bit iffy, but it's still a pretty place other than the freezing winters - it seems like a nice place to live and very safe.

H O L Y T O T A L E C L I P S E…read more This is just for the City of St Joseph, not public transportation. Plus, it was Monday 8/21/17, crazy day. I drove to St Joseph without a specific destination and located a small park right on the Missouri River. SCORE There was hardly anyone there yet, and I parked next to a couple who lived less than 10 miles from me in MN. Small world! There were portapotties and a food truck vendor, and a gazebo close to the river. The down side was that the parking lot was under a highway overpass. When it got dark there for a few minutes, the light sensors kicked in so it wasn't night time dark. Back to the city services, I felt quite safe as more people arrived to my secluded spot because a gaggle of bicycle patrol officers were present. Every 20 minutes or so a speedboat with water patrol sped by on the river. The city seemed quite prepared for safety control. When the BIG MOMENT came, and for about 12 seconds of cloud cover separation we saw the real deal. People were hootin and hollarin, firecrackers were going off, and I think there might have been a couple fireworks. We were right off the downtown area and I think it was coming from there. I was so emotional after, I got turned around trying to get back on the road home. I ended up driving allover StJoes, and it was NOT pleasant. I seemed to be in the seedy part of town wherever I drove. I think most of St Joe is kind of run down ghetto. I never did see a "nice" part of town. When I passed a run down house with a confederate flag as a curtain in the front window, and young guys in wife beaters drinking beer in the front yard at 2 in the afternoon, I drove as fast as I could to get out of there. Fortunately, there was a police presence everywhere. GPS just wasn't working well. I did end up at the Museum area, which was delightful. Traffic wasn't too bad getting out of town, but getting back to MN on I 35 was a nightmare. Maybe the St Joe traffic control should have been in charge of the Interstate too. Thousands and thousands of vehicles. WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A H E A R T B E A T
