Backwoods 222 I…read moreattended a wedding at Backwoods 222 in Gower, Missouri, and the event space is very nice. It has two bedrooms upstairs that can be used for a his-and-hers setup or for people staying for a weekend event or conference. There are breakout rooms without doors and some rooms downstairs with curtains. The kitchen has a freezer, refrigerator, double sink, microwave, and large trash cans. I can't remember if there was a stove. The building has three levels and was built in 1863--it used to be a museum. It's about five miles west of Gower and 15 miles from Trimble. I attended on November 21st when it was cold and rainy, so we couldn't use the patio, but pictures show it's beautiful. The bathrooms really impressed me--clean floors, clean toilets, and well kept. Aimee was onsite most of the event, and she was very helpful. She emptied the trash before leaving and was very compassionate and concerned about the guests. What stood out were the handwritten ICE (In Case of Emergency) signs posted around the venue with the address and directions to give police or emergency services. She also had Kleenex and hand sanitizer everywhere. I can tell she loves her place and keeps it very clean. She also has a room full of decor like vases, centerpieces, "bride and groom" items, and things for events. I live in Raymore, Missouri, and it was worth the drive. I would highly recommend Backwoods 222.

And although we asked if there was any chance they would run out of either, and our server said " no chance," they ran out of the pie. With only 3 pieces left for 6 of us, 3 had to go with tiramisu...both choices were good, but not great. I would might go back to Plattsburg just to drive around to see the many, many historic homes, predominantly fancy Victorian style. But I'd eat at a different restaurant. The architectural treasures may be a well-kept secret, as none of us homes-tour-and-historic-architecture junkies knew about them or about Plattsburg's rich history before learning of the tour. Ask someone there what was discovered about one of their famous, never married, supposedly childless forefathers at the town's first big reunion when many ancestors got together!
