At the time, I called around to at least 4-6 different places in the Albany area to understand the cremation options available, at a very stressful time obviously. Roy was BY FAR the most compassionate, patient, responsive, and clear about what to expect. Seriously, you just don't want to deal with the impersonal or callous attitudes that came across in my first phone call with some of the other places that offer cremation services. There wasn't even the smallest hint of anything other than the ideal level of genuine helpfulness from Roy. On top of that the prices were extremely fair, and the environment and decor in the Simple Choices funeral home is very comforting. Looking back, it also feels good to have supported a business & team that is committed to doing the right thing for people at their worst times. They live out ALL the values stated on their website. Oh, and I should also mention just in case anyone's looking for this detail in a review - our family isn't Christian, and Roy was nothing but pure kindness and understanding on adjusting the decor in the funeral home for our small family viewing. Roy & team, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your excellence at serving us at such a difficult time. If we could leave you a 6 star review we would!

It was time to call a wildlife specialist. The positive reviews I was reading for Upstate Pest & Wildlife Control were convincing enough for me to call them. They were able to schedule a visit for the next day. Jake from UPW&C (no relation to Jake from State Farm) arrived on time and assessed the situation. He was friendly, very informative, and knowledgeable. The cost for the services he proposed and explained was reasonable. He was able to set traps that same day. Jake returned after a couple of days to check the traps. While the traps had not caught anything yet, and we hadn't heard critters any longer in the ceiling, he made modifications and adjustments to the traps and planned another visit the following day. Today, after assuring that there were no more squirrels in the soffits, and no new points of entry, he removed the traps and sealed the soffit hole. (Note: one trap did have part of a squirrel's tail.) I definitely recommend this family owned business if you have problems with wildlife pests. Their entire operation is very professional and reassuring.

A trap was set and we had Bucky the groundhog the next day. Matt closed up the hole for us. When we heard it again a few days later, Matt came back. There was nothing, so we think Bucky's SO escaped for good. Matt is responsive, responsible, changed his schedule when I asked if he could come a day early and he got the critter. Pest control isn't something we think about, but when we needed it, we were more than pleased with Matt's service. Pricing was reasonable and the process was simple. We'll use Upstate Pest & Wildlife Control again if needed and we highly recommend.

Horrible Service. We purchased a new mower from Jack Miller…read morefor over $5000 about 5 years ago. It needed some repairs in Aug. '18, called up to see if and when we could bring it in for repairs. JMemployees told us to bring it right in and it would probably take a couple of weeks. Called in Sept. and was spoken to abruptly, called 2 weeks later, again same thing. Called in Oct. and was told they would call us. April 2019 still no call!!!! So, again we make another call....AND we are told.. "oh, I guess we should bring it in for repairs." So, does this mean that for all this time, JMemployees didn't bother to even look at our mower. Called beginning of May, and was told Monday, then Monday, was told Friday, then Friday was told ... and on and on. FINALLY, May 16th we were able to pick it up! Our $500 repair ended up being over $1400. And to add more salt to the wounds, NO JMemployee helped us(which was just our son) load the mower from the back of the yard, where it was blocked by several snowplows. And if JMemployees had put even just a drop of gas in the mower, maybe this would have been an easier task. When we were finally able to mow the deck fell off and the gas tank was not replaced, as we had thought, it was just a terrible caulking job. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!

I'm estranged from my father and didn't feel comfortable asking him if my mother's cremains had been interred yet so I called the caretaker to inquire. Not only was she painfully uninformed, she was also very nasty on the phone and expressed zero compassion. Just overall very rude, crude, and callous. This was surprising to me because you would expect someone who's very job requires dealing with grieving family members to be a little more sensitive, but then again, nasty attitudes are par for the course in Fulton/Montgomery Counties and just one of the reasons I left the area. That said, it is a nice property and really one of the few options in the vicinity. Just try to avoid interacting with the caretakers/managers at all costs.
