WOW! What an unforgettable experience! As we were coming…read moredown Sylvan St. from 6th Ave. the house (sporting a beautiful blue exterior) came into view on the right and conjured up feelings of coming home. Backing up into the off street driveway to unload through a fenced in back yard we noticed several places set up to gather and enjoy the outdoors including a covered porch. It was also decorated with many nick naks giving it a personal touch. Walking into the kitchen, we found it to be delightful. A lot of space with ample cabinets and drawers chock full of a chefs dream of every tool and amenity (including a very well stocked spice rack) one needs to cook their family a wonderful Thanks giving dinner. The cabinets were well stocked with snacks and all of the breakfast essentials. The downstairs includes 3 entrance ways, (front, back and side). The swing on the front porch is great to relax in. A foyer, living room, formal dining room seating 6, a complete laundry room with a restroom shower, washer/dryer. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms with very comfortable beds, a complete washroom featuring a spacious soaking tub. There is an abundance of lighting fixtures throughout the house for those of us who are not fans of dimly lit areas. There are hundreds of little every day nick naks and decor items that make a house feel like a home sprinkled throughout the house. You will want for absolutely nothing. Everything has been thought of and provided for you right down to the smallest of things like an array of bubble bath items for you to enjoy! Forgot to pack something? Don't worry about it. Chances are Brickside Beds has provided it for you. If I didn't know better I would have thought that Martha Stewart herself planned and decorated this house! On a scale of 1 to 5 stars this experience was definitely a 10!

Sofie and I enjoy the B&B places to get a flavor of the area. A good B&B will allow one to sit with the natives, have conversation and enjoy their hospitality. For that, I'd never serve up less than 5 stars when I am hosted by good and kind people. Country Dreams Bed & Breakfast is "far from the madding crowd"... or at the end of a 2 mile dirt road where the sounds you will hear are cows lowing and frogs croaking. We were treated to a fine sunset in the evening. We enjoyed walking about looking at the long horns and seeing the pond change colors at twilight, sundown and sunset. It was a natural show that gave me pause to think: this happens every day! We came back from our walk to discover some warm cookies waiting for us on the table! They were especially delicious because we had no dinner. This place is not at all close to any restaurants - so plan on eating before you get there or bring something to make a sandwich with. There were some movies and a player in the community area, so we watched the Walk the Line movie about Johnny Cash. Nice. I always wanted to see that movie while we ate nuts and cookies. Breakfast was fun talking with the family - 3 generations discussing the days events. Country Dreams is a nice place to spend the night, but more important, it's an experience. Who are the people of Kansas and what are they about? You can get an idea at Country Dreams. Good people. Good country.

We LOVED the food served for dinner and breakfast, and the pool was WONDERFUL, as was the hot tub. Tricia is just an amazing and wonderful woman and was so happy to help us in every way, in fact, everyone was incredibly welcoming and kind. When they hand you your keys, they say "Welcome Home", and they mean it! Very kind and open-minded people and I would highly recommend this bed & breakfast for anyone staying in Northeast Kansas! Oh and if you stay there, be sure to get the one-hour long massage for only $45 - their massage therapist is the BEST I've been to - in my life. Can't recommend highly enough! The only downside is that there are only privacy locks on the inside of the doors - at the time of this posting there was no way to lock the door from the outside leaving me a bit anxious about leaving my belongings in my room. However, nothing was stolen or anything, it was just different than most B&Bs or hotels.

The food was great, everything was very clean and well maintained. We have had our retreat here for the last two years that I know of and when we asked the group if they wanted to do it again it was a great response from everyone. Homemade bread, rolls, and cinnamon rolls were to die for. Staff was great.
