Each couple had our own private bedroom and bathroom suites. Everything was neat and clean and so homey! There's a full kitchen and nice sized living room. The owners were in communication when we arrived, and when we left, and anytime in between that, we contacted them. They were always available. It rained the weekend we were there, so we spent time sitting on the front porch, at times watching the rain, watching movies and eating popcorn, or driving through the Flint Hills. It was so relaxing.! I would definitely recommend aunt Kate's cottage or one of the other Lark Inn Guest Houses if you were looking for a nice place to stay in the Flint Hills of Chase County Kansas.

This place has a great Addams Family vibe -- very gothic-Victorian. There are several different…read morehouses on the same street which are part of the B&B, and we stayed in the main one, a 1920s Tudor-style mansion which was once one of the most valuable homes in Topeka. The living room was designed after a Tudor-era library, with lots of dark carved woodwork and stained-glass windows. The owner seems to be on a mission to save her block of this urban neighborhood in Topeka which is safe but has seen better days. As the rundown-but-beautiful houses on her block go on the market, she snaps them up, renovates them, and adds them to her little mini-village of bed-and-breakfast venues. She's a one-woman neighborhood rehabilitation program and has obviously made this her life's work, down to collecting decorative items to lovingly put her idiosyncratic touch on every square inch. Our room -- The Chester, named after the original owner of the mansion, Chester Woodward -- included a private full bath and a small gardenlike private rooftop deck with a hot tub. The room is cozy rather than spacious but very comfortable. Every night the owner brings out a homemade dessert (the night we were there it was a lemon-cheese ball to be spread on homemade sugar cookies the way you'd spread a savory cheese ball on crackers -- I'm so stealing this idea) and her morning breakfasts are lavish. She checked our convenience for breakfast and was clearly prepared to serve earlier or later depending on our needs. She was also happy to give us pointers on where to eat and what to see in Topeka. The Saturday night we were there she'd arranged for a couples' massage team to offer massages for guests. We didn't take advantage of it but other guests were. I would definitely stay here again if I were in Topeka overnight.

It is a little farm oasis right in the heart of the Little Apple and just a stone's throw from the KSU Alumni Center and Student Union. We stayed in the Van Maanen suite, which was very private and comfortable. The mattress was SO comfortable! It's also the perfect size for a family of 4! Breakfast was homemade, delicious, hearty, balanced, and ample, with a variety of drink offerings and plenty of coffee! I highly recommend the Anderson B&B and hope to stay again some time!

Some days we ate at the crack of dawn others right before lunch time, you just let them know when you want to eat and your place will be set and if your up in time, the candles will still be lit! We stayed in the Van Mannen suite, it was spacious and well thought out, the shower was perfect size with a super high shower head which pleased my man of 6'5" who did not have to crouch to shower :) the bed is memory foam and delightfully comfy with lots of pillows to choose from. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and we plan to stay again this April for the Fort Riley Military Ball. Thanks Dawn and Phil, for a great experience!
